Remember when Claire's mother was in a vegetative state, without any hope of ever recovering, and then she somehow was in perfect health (and played by another actress) just so she could take care of Aaron-the-inconvenient-toddler?

The 1 and only plot hole in the show.

Then why fucking polar bears? The wheel room was frozen and cold. And there were arctic coats in the Orchid. Which season 5 would suggest they never used.

OH GOD THE WRITING

They didnt bring the polar bears to the island to turn the wheel. It was different scientific experimental purposes. As Ben says in season 4 finale: "silly experiments".

Once they found the donkey wheel they used them to turn it because as Charlie would say "Polar Bears are the Einsteins of the bear community" lol

There would also be no human sacrifice then.

It was cold and frozen because Dharma made it so.

Widmore's arc was fine.

He was a man who desperately wanted charge of the island and to one up Ben in everything.

In the end he still wanted that power and pretended to care about Jacob was telling him about Desmond, but just used it as an excuse to come back to the island. He rubbed it in Ben's nose that he spoke with Jacob. Ben owned him. "He doesnt get to save his daughter"

Locke was confident because he found a family who cared for him.

So after Locke lost his "family" at the hippy commune which he always desperately longed for, he became a depressed old man, taking out benefits for depression and then lost his legs.

Yeah that's definetly a plot hole!
That's basically how I always saw it.

Unless I'm forgetting some other details, it seems like a legit interpretation.

I dunno, that stuff seems preeeetty important to me. Then all of Widmore's formerly intriguing ambitions - that the writers had built up year after year - get thrown under the bus when Jacob conveniently "shows him the error of his ways" (off screen), before he's subsequently killed off. And I'm led to believe Charles' ultimate purpose was just to bring Desmond back to the Island so he could complete a simple task? Well ok then, why should I have cared about his involvement in the first plac.

You dont read between the lines. The show is not divided between seasons 1-5 and 6(or whatever way you want to see it) The show is coherent.

Widmore hasnt "seen the error of his ways" he is using the Jacobs needs Desmond for his own selfish gain to get back to the island.

You mean like in season 1 where the whisper is Frank Duckett? A dead man who cant let go of his past because of what Sawyer did to him???

Or how about in season 2 where you hear "hey sis" which is obviously Boone speaking to his sister Shannon right before she dies. You mean like that????
Like random nonsense, really. The whispers often announced the Others' presence though.

Hahahaha! You so crazy!

LOST is only as coherent or incoherent if you choose it to be so.

^ This sentence is the most important sentence anybody could read in this thread.

The ultimate truth if you will.

No, I mean like how you have still-living members of the Others whispering as they watch the survivors. But apparently that didn't happen because it was always ghosts.

In the end he still wanted that power and pretended to care about Jacob was telling him about Desmond, but just used it as an excuse to come back to the island. He rubbed it in Ben's nose that he spoke with Jacob. Ben owned him. "He doesnt get to save his daughter"
Nice invention. If you think Widmore's arc was "fine" or if he even had an arc by the end of the show, I don't think you know what an arc is. A character has to progress from one point to another. Widmore didn't do that.

Or maybe he did, because he mentioned Jacob helped changed his mind and stuff, but it's told to us rather than shown and not even told completely because he's murdered two seconds later.

It was sloppy storytelling and just another plot point the writers wanted to plow through at the expense of themes and character.

Well as in life, not everyone is redeemable :)

Oh, Drealmcc0y...

"What if he shoots us or something" #LivingWorldProblems

DUDE you cannot take what those transcripts say seriously... I already said most of its just garble with the occasional words that stick out like sore thumbs.

I mean can you honestly say you can hear those words if you actually listen? Ive listened to them believe me

Bullshit. Next thing you'll tell me Hugo could only see the dead when it was convenient.

Edit:
Oh wait.
I liked how Charlie appeared to Hurley (because Hurley was suddenly special that way, don't ask) to tell him that another ghost would appear to Jack. Makes sense!

Clearly, the white light at the end of the show is a place where the characters go to play pranks on their former selves by acting all mysterious and shit. It's the only explanation.

Erigu is just a sad, negative evil cunt, who should probably just kill himself.
Cute.

Yeah.... read my others comments kthx
Yes, like the one where you said every whisper, even the ones made by living people, are actually dead people unable to move on.

edit -
While I may be Jacob, in this situation. Im just a normal guy who loves the story that changed his life for the better.

Erigu is just a sad, negative evil cunt, who should probably just kill himself.

Good day to all and all a good day.

Oh man! I come in for some good natured banter and this is the result? :/

Heh, I think we've actually had this conversation before.

Your idea of "reading between the lines" is concocting pure fan-wankery, and passing it off as fact. You go too far sometimes. You make up your own convenient loopholes so the story magically makes sense again to you, instead of just acknowledging that the writers might have fucked up more often than we would've liked.

Your head canon regarding Widmore's out-of-character actions in S6 is too loose for my taste. It's not really supported on the show.

Also I'm not the one who put up this great divide between S1-5 and S6. Darlton did, but maybe unintentially. I don't find what was presented in S6 to be a logical extension of what was presented in S1-5. They went off on a weird tangent for the story's final chapter, abandoning many interesting threads from earlier seasons, in favor of some trite good vs. evil fairy tale.

Just like the Prometheus thread. Just saying.
Im actually new around here.
No shit. Or I don't think you would have called out an established member as a "cunt". Have a think mate.

Just don't get yourself ejected, mcc0y. I like you.

I'm sorry guys I was just fooling around I've kind of made peace with my disappointments with LOST a long time ago and just wanted a bit of debating for the fun of it :(

If this is where it leads I'll refrain from now on.

For the record, seasons 1 to 4 are some of my favourite TV ever and I will never take that away from the writers, directors or cast. Ever. They should be proud of that.

Then again, I think the first half of Prometheus is also quite well plotted, falling apart in the second-half, so maybe I'm seeing a pattern here.

I call all my friends sick cunts. What's the problem here?

Just like the Prometheus thread. Just saying.

The funny part is that Lindelof's intentions is 100% all about making the audience converse whether for the good or bad. That is what he wants more than anything.

Don't apologize man. Shit's hilarious. The only thing I'm not liking here is your lack of duck.

I call all my friends sick cunts. What's the problem here?
Erigu is not your real-world friend and "cunt" can safely be considered an insult anyhere outside southern England.

Curious, huh?

By the way, I was a bit disappointed to see that they'll only include the first and final (shooting) drafts of the script, on the Prometheus disc. I would have been interested in Spaihts' final draft, so we'd know which parts were Lindelof's.

Sort of. You know that I love Lost and am pretty confident I can piece it all together in my own head, even if I can't convince you to do the same. I'm over it. Prometheus was just a mess.

It was in another life, brother.
Ha ha. Nice.

Edit: Oof. See ya later dude.

Cunt isn't a casual bit of slang in North America like it is in the UK and Australia.

Please don't bail, your kind is needed around here. As long as you criticisms are legit, it's all good. Who cares where it leads.

My overall love for LOST is unconditional, but sometimes, it needs a good spanking for being a little dumb.

Peace out, mcc0y :/

I think he is being honest about that though, I have seen other actors in interviews struggle with the overall arching plots of the shows they played a part in. For a lot of them its work. I reckon a lot of them really DON'T watch the entirety of shows they act in.

I'll find out later, but I'm not so sure they ever say she has no chance of recovery. She came out of her coma and accomplished more than just being a caretaker.
