Sawyer is one of my consistently favorite characters. I think they way he is written and developed is maintained excellently throughout. Especially the contrast between his happy go lucky blubbering stud, his hardened self loathing, his crazed drive for revenge, and his tender sorrow for what he had become.
I think though that Desmond is my favorite character from the show. His roll was so much more interesting than everyone else, and I felt he alone was able to keep his head above everything that the island threw at him.

That smirk actually pisses me off. It feels like she's trying too hard to be a bitch. That's actually the biggest thing I hate about her. lol
I have no beef with libby but
she seems so much older than Hugo which made the whole thing feel really awkward to me.
I guess. To be fair, he wasn't given a lot of time to be fleshed out. I actually hated Shannon more (if we are comparing the characters). At least Boone was taken on by Locke as an apprentice, and was kind of cool towards the end.
I still think the worst character on the show was probably Kate. Just in terms of overall awfulness. And thing is, Kate was incredible in season 1. It's a real shame the writers dismantled her character, and she just became an object for the love triangle plot.
Well, I guess we have to consider Paulo and Nicki too. But at least their demise was quick.

If there is one thing i've learned, everyone has their own tolerance levels for people and their traits. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people vehemently hate a character on TV, that I or a lot of people love, but then turn around and like another character that most dislike.
When LOST was on TV, my family hated Juliet. They thought her smirks were rage-inducing. To be fair, she was playing a
character who's motivations were ambiguous, even to herself. She was just trying to get an upper hand however she could. Whoever could get her off the island and back to her sister, that is what she was going for. I think her character came a long way after season 4 (especially in 5).
I guess that might be one way you can justify her being attracted to him. I agree with Dave's assessment that the whole thing always seemed far-fetched, though sweet.
We have to keep in mind, the writers had bigger plans for her originally.

Libby was in the same mental ward as Hugo. So who knows if there was more to it, then that. But there was obviously a point to showing that scene -initially. So while it might seem far-fetched, it kind of made sense, given both were crazy.

The story jack told again? Kate is too whiney to understand. He was operating, the nerves came loose and he was so afraid he, the fear was so real and he didn't know what to do so he "blank". And then he wasn't afraid anymore. What was the blank? I forget now and I can't understand kate.
He let the fear take him. But only for five seconds. That's all he gave it. One. Two. Three. Four. Five.
True. I wonder what would have been different if not for the drunk driving business. I was fine with seeing Ana Lucia go, but it seemed like they had bigger plans for Libby.

yeap those scenes... I really like the one with john and jack in the forest in the first 6 or 7 eps in s1 cant remember the ep... but it was soo well done.
she was never redeemable for me after that ... really hated her character.
