I love S5 for many reasons (Miles), but the main thing I loved about 1977 was how it crammed all the themes of three FUCKING AMAZING seasons of Deadwood into about seven episodes.
Ben, when you declared Some Like It Hoth the best episode of LOST ever, it created a separate timeline wherein I cant trust your feelings on LOST anymore
Hurley leading the Losties this season simply confirms that his simple and selfless act of decency in trying to rewrite a cynical story about broken families into one of hope is and always will be the core of the fucking show.
I bet by the end of the series I will be proven completely right.
:lol man that picture is cheeky and sneaky as hell.
olo = why are both o's written so weird. deliberate mind fuck. probably lots of red herrings in there but I bet the one clue is in the top right which has been purposely cut off.
Reveal Hydra Island, Main Island is in BAD?
and its _____olo restore Black Rock. why does that first o look like a zero though?
all possible words that end in olo, only one stands out to me:
I kinda feel sad now that I 90% KNOW there will be a new Jacob at all. I always retain a sense of open endedness over whether that was real or some kind of trick/trap/diversion...or simply a deluded plan destined for failure and concocted by an insane madman.
The reviews for this episode seem to be on one end of the spectrum or the other, so I'm expecting something rather huge to happen (given the comments coming from Darlton) and some fans will like the direction, and some will not.
DarkUFO just stated in the comments of a recent post that The Constant also received pretty mediocre scores from his sources prior to airing! Some things just don't work well on paper.
So, What They Died for theory:
It shows why the X-time people died? I think people had mostly figured this out, but Desmond seems to have confirmed it.

Yeah, I think so. He got close to pure love via a near-death experience, he believes that by actually dying he will achieve it. That, along with the death of all of the other losties, is his "sacrifice".

I'm really looking forward to next week's episode. Part because of the review, part because I rather like the Hurley episodes, and part because I'm expecting quite a bit of mythology just because of where we are in the storyline and Hurley's current role.
Yeah, but the reason to go back to those characters off-island should be to directly tie their stories to the sideways mythology, probably with a Desmond visit. Things should be a lot more interesting from now on in the sideways world. No standard "this is your life" stuff, which was interesting, but we're approaching the end now and Happily Ever After seemed to set the sideways mythology conclusion in motion.

I wonder if "The Last Recruit" refers to Desmonds journey to enlighten the 815'ers, rather than on-island activity. Makes sense given that it's rumoured to be multi-centric -- involving the gathering of everyone (-1) in the flashsideways.

They should really just rename this show Desmond, because no matter how good the rest of it is, Desmond always tops it. I hope they release a special Desmond blu-ray thats just all the Desmond episodes for 4-5 hours of non-stop Desmond. Desmond Desmond Desmond. Desmond.
