Lost: Via Domus...

Brandon F

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Getting into Lost finally(Blu-Ray!), liking the show so far, but still in Season 1.

So when do I play this? As in where does it best suit the canon to go through it? Also, does the forest sections REALLY look better than Uncharted as Klepek's 1up review implies??

I believe you should play it after completing season 3. It covers some areas you haven't really seen in the series, with a bit more detail. My friend who played it basically said it was a "what if" scenario, so anything that it implies shouldn't really be considered "canon". Also, you should know that none of the actors did voices for the game, which gives you AWESOME scenes like this:

HAahha oh god, Lockes voice actor.

It's between seasons 3 and 4 I think. It's an awful game, but there is something kind of cool about seeing the locations.

I'm sure there will be a real Lost game once the show is over though. One that actually is canon.

I believe it runs at least part of the way into the 3rd season of the TV series, but I'm not positive.

And no, the jungle scenes definitely don't look better than the ones in Uncharted from what I remember.

played it, beat it a while ago.

the graphics were actually quite decent and it was cool traveling to different locations on the Island including one location that is often mentioned on the show but never shown. the story is alright and the ending actually made me think if the TV show will end the same.

the game itself is not that much fun except for the flashback sequences but there are some good ideas. if you're a huge LOST fan, then it's worth playing through.

It fits into the story very little and branches off by itself that it doesn't really matter.

There's a few S3 characters and locations though I think.

Not fully true. Desmond and Ben lent their true voices to the game.

I agree with playing it after watching season 3.

While as a game it's really not much fun, the side story is at least somewhat interesting if you're a fan of LOST. I don't regret investing 5 hours into this game, I even got 1000 gamerpoints for doing it :P

Play it after the season 2, and only if you are really big fan of adventure games - so that you can stomach some of them even if they are not that great. Game has its moments, few good moments, but it's worth it if you like adventures IMO.

After watching the first two seasons which my friends tell me are the two best I have to say no. Weeds > *

I dropped Weeds in the middle of S2. I'll probably pick it up again, but ehh, not really hungering for it.

And S2 of LOST is often called the worst season. Not that it's bad mind you. Just least greatest.

Edit: More on-topic, I've heard in the various LOST threads that the game sucks.

There's no way somebody said that. The game looks like ass. I need a link, right now.

the game was mediocre but not super terrible for a licensed title. it's a rental.

I've played it in full. It's an okay game, I'am a Lost fan and everything... but not unmissable by any means. It's a rental at best.

For whoever's following the series and finished the game,
it's funny how the game itself has shown the timeshifting thing way, way before the TV series did.
Given that there was input from the TV series folks plotwise, could that foreshadowing be intentional?

It's okay.
Not nearly as bad as some are making it out to be. It's fun to be able to run around on the beach w/ the wreckage, everyone's huts, the forest, being chased by Smokey, etc.

But, it's not canon. Like people have been saying, it takes place towards the end of Season 3 so you can play it after watching Season 3 and you'll be good.
It's a rental.

1-3 are so much better than 4 and 5, it's kind of disgusting.

There have been several exceptional episodes since then (<3 The Constant <3) but the story has spiraled out of control. I mean, it was always zany but there's just no direction anymore.

There's a hiliarious clip on YouTube with Jack running in circles due to a glitch, and a Scatman song is playing.

Find it, and I shall show you the way to the island.

Aw fuck...don't tell me this! I was under the impression that Lost has been GOOD the past couple seasons, which is why I started watching. I don't want this show to devolve into a Heroes-esque suckfest, I wouldn't have even bothered. :(

don't listen to him he's crazy. if anything, its even got tighter plots and we now know what the story is all about.

I disagree with his claim. It's going good now.

I really enjoyed it, for a 4(?) hour game. It's not canon, but it doesn't have to be, technically *cough*. It does fit in with the Lost universe, though, so Lost fans should at least rent it.

I disagree with him wholeheartedly. I actually thought that the plot in s2 and s3 started to drag a little bit. Once they agreed to end things after season 6 (near the end of season 3?), the show is just so much tighter.

It's his opinion. Not many (AFAIK) agree with him. Personally, S5 has been the best season.

Lets not turn this into list wars again.

Dude, 3 was godawful. 2 was okay but disappointing. 5 was the best since season 1.

that guy is retarded. LOST maintains it's awesomeness all the way through. not even close to Heroes :lol

he clearly is upset that the show isn't going in the direction he wants it to go, but it's stupid to think the show has no direction. if i were you i'd bail out on this and all LOST threads before people spoil things.

To answer your original question Brandon F, yes, this game does have easy achievements...

Really? How is that implemented into the game?

From what I heard you never play it. You avoid it like the Plague. No matter how much of a Lost fan you are.
It is pretty shitty, I'm a fucking HUGE LOST FAN! I got it on newegg for 10$ then traded it in at Gamestop for 6, so 4 dollars wasn't to bad! Also if your an achievement whore you can easily get 1000 without even trying!

You're delusional. I liked 3 just fine, and it ended with the best finale of the entire series. The next two seasons do nothing but handle the loose ends from that episode. And I've also come to realize that the show has been a chain of broken promises and forgotten plotlines.

I guess I'll stop.. I know how batshit insane the Lost threads get here so GAF probably isn't the best place to discuss this.

every season of LOST has gotten worse and worse, it went from amazing in S1 to piss poor when they went into the future. It started answering too many questions with piss poor answers.
