LTTP: Binary Domain

I think my favorite segment was
when you need to wait for Shindo while he's taking a dump.
We need more moments like that in these games

There are so many great moments like that.

Cain: "I see! Bathrooms are places where organics can rejuvenate themselves!"

Also reading the endings where
Cain survives
makes me love this game even more. Never got that in my 2 playthroughs.

Picked this up during the Amazon sale, but it's completely unplayable. CTD whenever I fire my gun using gamepad (but it's fine with mouse?) Anyone else have this problem?

Okay, so I got PC version from Amazon, and the other day it was working perfectly. I played through the tutorial and shit, etc, and then I quit and left it alone. Today I'm trying to play some multiplayer with friends, I start the game, and I hear "SEGA" but there's a blank screen, then it immediately minimizes back to the desktop. The game is still running minimized, but once it click on it on the taskbar, it minimizes again.

WTF? I can't get it to start!

Picked up the 360 version yesterday after reading the tremendous amount of positive responses in this thread and the OT.
Pretty much what I expected, as shooting the robots to bits is THE best part about the game, and it's done VERY well. Otherwise most everyone's turning a blind eye to how generic everything else is because it was done by the Yakuza dude.
Can't believe some are claiming this is better than Gears of War.

You're not running an AMD card with RadeonPro are you?

Others turn a blind eye to how generic Gears of War is, too.

I've also read comments that had the same reaction as you in the beginning, but they had a much more positive reaction later in the game.

(I havent played it yet) but from what I've read, the game grows on you.

I'm hoping that's the case. I mean, it's by no means a bad game, it's just that nothing stands out as being really special or above average outside of decimating enemy robots with gunfire. The dialogue is pretty good as well, although characters are a bit too chatty.

By the way if you want the true golden ending:

Have everyone (save for
Kurosawa
so that means it includes
Shindo and Cain
) at least three bars full worth of Trust.
What happens is that no one dies
.

Also I love the ending -
hybrids are hunted
because
lolreligion
.

The game is very good. I have no idea how the fuck it sold so poorly. It screams deserving a sequel to me. Yes the audio stuff sucked, but the rest of the game is rather enjoyable.

LMAO, I'm having a massive framerate drop whenever there is a big explosion. I just killed the spider bot and when it exploded, I thought my laptop froze.

Gonna buy the ps3 version instead.

It turns out my problem from the other day was that my current desktop settings set my monitor's display at 59hz instead of 60hz, so when I tried to launch the game in 1080p 60hz it wasn't working or something. I dunno. Weird. I fixed it pretty easily.

Then you'll just be fighting the spider bot at 18fps, and 10fps whenever you go near it. Lol.

Wut, I have a constant 60 fps in my rig.

Just got it from Gamefly. It's pretty average a few hours in. Will keep going, but not that into it yet.

I will admit that Big Bo has a certain charm to him, though.

It starts to pick up big time. Some decent twists toward the end.

Unlike most games these days, there was actual closure to the story. (even w/ a sequel hinted)

Playing his right now and am totally loving it. Story sucked me right in and the shooting is solid. The only bad thing is that it's quite hard to get a decent online game (for PS3 anyway). I'd love to try out some other modes but the only active type is TDM.
SP is keeping me occupied though. Really can't wait to do a second playthrough and see how my partner choices affect the story.

Is there any detailed guide on how to get all the endings, I thought I had the best one but apparently you can save
the french robot
too, he just kinda disappeared in my game.

This game is only ÂŁ10 at some site. How long is the game? I downloaded the demo and it was in French, eventough my PS3 is set to English.

Really enjoying it so far, although I can't handle playing for more than an hour at a time

Just got to the point where
I smanged Faye
Disappointed that I couldn't
tag team her with Big Bo. It seemed like something he'd enjoy

How far in am I?

Uhhhh maybe a little more than half? I did that area last night so its all one meshed memory.

Wow...this game is good. I thought third-person, Gears of War-style shooter campaigns were creatively bankrupt (and that includes all three Gears campaigns) but Binary Domain is really grabbing me so far. It has superior Japanese-style enemy and boss design, and solid mechanics, but unlike most Japanese action games, it also has a genuinely interesting and coherent story, with surprisingly decent writing.

This really looked generic crap from the media I saw and the reviews weren't positive, but I'm glad GAF had a strong positive response to it. I'm excited to play more.

I think the voice acting in this game is pretty good except for Shindo. Holy fuck what happened there? And Johnny Yong Bosch is solid. I know he's overused, but I hadn't ever heard him before and only knew him from his stint as a Power Ranger. (I don't watch anime.)

Finished BD last night. Yeah, my initial impression in the early goings was that this was pretty generic, and I was saddled with a chatty partner.

Then it all starts to hit you. The dialogue gets pretty damn good. You level up your weapon and mow through robots like a hot knife through butter. Humourous scenes leave you chuckling. And then there's the boss battles. Oh, the boss battles that feel like boss battles and not the two minute hit this thing in the glowy spot three times to win battle.

By the time the credits rolled my opinion was completely transformed. BD is a REALLY good game. Such a shame it didn't sell a good million units because it certainly deserved to.

So far, I'm a couple hours in and a few bosses down and really feel like this game is crap. I only moderately enjoyed Gears of War 3, and this game feels worse in every single aspect. Even the writing. I really don't understand the charm, especially with how bland the combat it is. With the upgrade system I really only feel like using a single weapon, and the AI partners end up only being slabs of meat that yell at me when they walk in front of my cross hairs.

I feel a little ripped off at $10, but I mostly blame Steam for that.

I'm in the same boat after a few hours, haven't been motivated to go back to it since my last post. It's okay I guess.

I'm going to start it back up tonight, see if I get into more.

I feel ripped off by your post. Give my time back, foo.

Oh, I thought it was the JP VA speaking in English.

Haha, I know, that's why I said he's pretty good. Sounds like a real non-native-English-speaker.

I'm talking about as a whole, it just doesn't feel compelling in anyway.

Taste will vary.

On the PC I find BD to be much more enjoyable a game than the original Gears. I feel more connected to the characters, enjoy the cover/blind shooting more, enjoy the speed of the characters more...and the story is more interesting.

The only thing I prefer in Gears are the antagonist. I'm not big on "robots" being the enemy, but it works in BD.

If these were the creatures in Gears, but with BD's writing/combat/graphics this would be one of my top five games this generation.

Wait you mean
There are multiple endings? Big Bo didn't have to die? Why did I do this too you, Big Bo! I'm so sorry you happened to be the only character I could test the mic controls with at the beginning of the game. I'll never forgive myself.
