Many of my deaths are due to this. You'd think I would have learned by now...
When people said the game is actually really fair and the high majority of your deaths are self-inflicted... yeah... they were 100% correct. :{

What about the mini bosses that are tougher than some of the actual bosses?
To be honest I treat every damn enemy in this game like a boss.
From the slash-fodder, to the minis, to the heavies.
Playing with fear has been an advantage for me. Well, until I act like a dumbass and get cocky/rush through.
I think I see myself become spoiled by the drake sword, the minions have become one hit fodder now.
that will change soon![]()

What should be my next weapon as a Wanderer?
Blahh I'll enjoy the payback while it lasts![]()
Classes don't matter in Dark Souls. There's no "next weapon as a Wanderer." If you give us an idea of what type of weapons you like using, we can advise you on what stats to upgrade to take advantage of that weapon type. Alternatively, if you tell us which stats you've raised so far, we can recommend weapons that are logical fits for that build. The truth is, you have access to a dozen weapons right now that, when properly upgraded, will outclass the Drake Sword. It's just a question of which one you'd like to start forging.
EDIT:
Given that you've said you want to focus on melee, ask yourself whether you'd like to wield heavy or light weapons. Heavier weapons like greataxes or greatswords will require lots of strength. Of the lighter weapons, you could decide to use a spear (good for beginners since you can strike while shielding), a straight sword, or any number of other items. Some of the lighter weapons are best with DEX, but it varies.

Bit of advice: Bows make the game SO much easier. You can cheese so much shit with bows. They're good for luring enemies to you one by one too.

Early in the game, how do you upgrade weapons to out-damage Drake or Black Knight Sword? I'm in Blighttown at the lower level and I don't see how I can upgrade any weapons to give me higher dps or even comparable damage to make me better off than the Black Knight. I know later on these will easily be outclassed, but early on, how so?
roughly how many standard arrows does it take to kill that big red drake/dragon that firebombs the bridge?
Man, he just wrecks my ass when I try to get him in a stand-up fight.
early on before the game was patched you could do it with 150, maybe 200? AFTER the patch he regenerates health at a certain point so fast it's impossible without a monstrously powerful bow.
You're going to have to take him head on. Have fun!
That sword sucks. IMO go with Man-serpent greatsword +15
I'm afraid I don't know exactly what it would take to outclass your Black Knight sword or Drake Sword. I know some people like to carry the Black Knight Halberd for the whole game, so it wouldn't surprise me if the sword were similarly useful. On the other hand, basic and intermediate upgrade items should be available to you now. You can raise your weapons to normal + 10 or Magic +5 / Enchanted +4 if you're willing to farm. Shards are easy enough to come by. The chunks will take more time. And titanite chunks are pretty limited until after Anor Londo.
Ok just beat the bell gargoyles had to summon an npc, felt like cheating at first but there were 2 of them so I got over it![]()
Lvl 23
Vit15
Att12
End12
Str16
Dex17
Res14
Int12
Faith8
I have 8K souls, gonna use em before i loose em
i have been using the man serpent greatsword the entire second half of my current STR playthough. sword is awesome.
you dont need chunks to get to +10, just large shards, which you can farm before anor londo. you need chunks to get to 15, and you are right that they arent really common until anor londo.
edit:
your stats seem too evenly distributed. if you are playing a melee character you should probably focus on either STR or DEX and VIT and END. RES is useless, and you only want ATT and INT if you are using magic (pyro only requires ATT).
Roger, pity there is no re-spec
Ohhh fuck I accidentally started a fight and killed Solaire, i went and commited suicide and that didnt bring him back fuck i feel terrible

He's cake.Fuck the Gaping Dragon wtf
He's cake.
Stay back until he rushes you (He telegraphs this for seemingly an eternity before he moves), stand out of the way, then run in and get some hits on his tail while he just sits there recovering. Back away when he stands upright, repeat.
knocked the dick off of Pinwheel. Got the Mask of the Father (kind of disappointing; wanted the creepy Mask of the Child).
Didn't even summon Leroy, either.
Out of the many challenges in this game, Pinwheel really seemed like a gift from the developers.
Those wooden-wheel skeletons, on the other hand, FUCK THEM.
oh man I was dreading going back to those anor londo archers- they killed me more than anything else in the game first time around.
THIS time, fog ring + hawk ring + poison arrows makes a joke out of them. They'll never see you coming.
I tried to beat him repeatedly, never did succeed until late in the game.Tried to fight the big red dragon on the bridge again.
Got completely murdered.
He kept spamming his jump straight up/blast down fire move. I would get knocked down by the fire blast (even when blocking), slowly get up, have half a second to drink a flask, rinse, repeat.
Got some good, damaging hits off his foot/leg at the beginning. Then he started to cheese my ass. Grrrr.
They're all easy if you kill them before they kill you.Anor londo archers are easy to kill when you have the right timing to parry his attack.

You can see how much anything scales in their respective stats. There are letters at the bottom going from S to E I believe with S being the best scaling. I think they always scale with your stats, it's just that some weapons scale better than others (50 str or even 99 won't do much with an E scale weapon for example). Scaling might also drop after 50 rapidly in all stats, I'm not sure.Am soul farming in the garden for about 2 nights now trying to get my strength to lvl 50.
Swinging the dragon king great axe is going to be goood.
How do you know when a weapon's damage scales with your stats?
I've just started this, and I am wondering is it worth paying for and installing the expansion DLC now, or waiting untill I've finished the game before doing that? Will I appreciate the extra content more if I wait?
Loving the interconnected world, too. Visually the game seems to be quite an upgrade; impressive.
I didn't die, not even once, to the Anor Londo archers. Just took it easy from "cover" to cover and then ran up until I was close enough to kick them (well, just the one to the right) down.
I was watching this parody music video earlier today and it reaffirmed my decision never to play this game. It just doesn't seem like fun playing through something that pointedly difficult.
The expansion has some of the strongest bosses in the game, so it's not a bad idea to wait until before you fight the last boss to buy it. But be aware that buying the expansion only grants you access to it, it's already installed due to online so you might have to fight invading players that use some devastating black magic on you.I've just started this, and I am wondering is it worth paying for and installing the expansion DLC now, or waiting untill I've finished the game before doing that?
