Of course the gears of war games are well renowned but I want to decide if they're good or not and after playing through the first three, original trilogy, 360 games, these games are real winners.



I love shooters, also third person shooters. If you've read my LTTPs, these kind of linear shooter campaigns I love. Right now we're in the era of walking, talking hero open world simulator with polluted maps, and characters that never shut up so I enjoy these type of too the point, games.

Almost 15 years since release this Gears 3 game actually still looks good (unreal engine 3) when I look at it it looks like a modern game.

The story makes sense, you're saving humanity, killing evil queens, putting out fires etc. but to me gears is fun because of the enemies, and there's a long list of them:

Locust
Grenadier Elite

Kantus

Bloodmount

Beserker

Brumaks

Corpsers

Grenadiers

Drones

Palace Guards

Lambent
Polyp

Lambent Wretch

Former(Lambent Humans)

Lambent Drone

These lambent fuck everything up, these glowie mother fuckers.

91/100 I think it's higher and easily the best gears.

I think the multiplayer and horde mode are necessary components of Gears, and it all feels very clean and just refined here with 3.

The DLC for Gears 3, I wasn't worried about paying $10 bucks for this awesome piece of gears lore, you get to see a locust up close and it's exciting.

Overall, the adrenaline gears provided is amazing to me even now 15 years later, the story feels big.

Playing the game in coop mode with some friends. We went through the whole series.

It had been a while since we last played the campaign in Gears 3. The whole series is special. Each battle feels intense. Killing those enemies, helping your friends, being part of the big spectacle. And the personal story. Seeing Dom losing his wife and giving his life for the team, it brought a level of emotion that many young men weren't used to. Who didn't feel a wave of emotion watching our friend suffer. The developers did an amazing job. For us, it defined that generation and it still holds up to this day.

Once the campaign is done, we're moving to horde mode. That's a whole different level of fun.

I'm excited for the new Gears. But very cautiously optimistic with anything coming from Microsoft. Its set in the past so I think it'll be hard for Microsoft to make Dom question his identity or for Cole Train to ask if for a safe space. But you never know with Microsoft.

And have splitscreen story mode.

This game is good. I still think L4D2 is the best Xbox 360, but this game is not far off. The online multiplayer is also good.

What did GAF think of Gears of War 3?

Fantastic end to the OG trilogy.

Dom's scenes and them bringing back the orchestral Mad World was *chef's kiss*.

Best game in the series in my opinion. One of my favorite games of all time. I miss when Gears was epic (no pun intended).

Might do another playthrough of the OG trilogy soon.

Was always more gears 2 horde player. I just never felt horde in gears 3 click with me

But the campaign and story across all 3 games is just as good as it gets and something that is almost never repeated across multiple game series. These days. I'm still amazed that they were able to tie all 3 games together and make you feel invested till the end

Looking forward to hopefully enjoying all over again, if they remaster for this gen

I wish I couldn't find out the hours I spent on multiplayer with this game—my favourite game in the 360 era.

I finished them as they were first released, but started them up again last year when the trilogy rumor began. They all look so good already and run so well on the Series X. I'm not sure I'll pay full price for the remaster, but it is an amazing series.

I have played this game to finish coop about 4-5 times now. Will do it again in a few months.
