I saw in the OP that you have to have:

MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)

Anyone know if this is a specific request? I have a mid-2007 Macbook, and am currently running Lion on it and have 2gb RAM. Can anyone confirm if I'm okay?

Hmm, I have to head to the airport in just over three hours and will be gone for a month. Taking my MacBook with me. Not sure if I should try to install before I go. How long does the whole process take?
Do it. Live on the edge.

Noobish question, but this I just got my MBP last month and this is going to be the first time I upgrade the OS of any computer that I've owned so is there anything that I need to do prior to upgrading to make sure all of my information is safe and able to be re-downloaded?

Well a backup of your data is always recommended, not just when you are upgrading.
As you know, all hardware fails sooner or later, so make backups of your valuable documents and items.
Which is the perfect reason to use a Time Capsule.

Besides that, I'd say there's a very, very small chance that anything would go wrong during the update. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Downloaded and installed it in about an hour seems good so far, really liking the new dock.

Same here. Once I sorted out permissions issues for the install, everything was good. Running very smoothly right now. I'm converting some 1080p video clips for iMovie import on my MacBook Air and the fan isn't even kicking in the way it did a few days ago under Lion. Hope that's a good sign of performance to come.

Has anybody here received their free upgrade through the Up To Date program yet? I registered a couple hours ago and haven't heard anything.

Not yet here, did it some hours ago as well and haven't gotten a confirmation email or anything of the sort.

I hope so, I'm not really into hacks, usually I'm content with what's offered but Airplay to me is easily the best feature of ML and to cut off every with pre 2011 Macs is stupid. If it runs poorly because we can't handle it then let is run poorly, don't lock out the feature. Plus the streaming music only feature is awesome

Doing some research it seems that AirPlay Mirroring uses QuickSync which is an Intel Sandy Bridge+ feature, so maybe there is actually a technical reason older Macs are SOL.

How long until growl supports pushing the notifications to the Notification Center?

I'm getting by with messages for now though. I managed to find a hotmail plugin.

All these updates (Pages, XCode, Aperture, OS X, iPhoto, Keynote, iMovie) are going to kill my Internet cap (I only have up until 145 GB a month for this entire household). :(

Yeah, noticeably faster than Chrome for me (still on Lion). But the tab management is still far inferior.

iOS 6
That sucks.

iOS 6 is so far away.

About 50% downloaded now. So slow. It's funny how the new buyers have to wait longer than those buying the update. Sure they save some money but that amount is hardly going to break the bank. Especially if you're buying mac stuff.

Anyone got this running on the lowest end early 2011 Macbook Pro? Lion hasn't been great on this thing, wondering if ML is any better in terms of speed?

snacknuts

we all knew her
Is it really that much faster than Lion? I hated the move from Snow Leopard to Lion, and none of the iOS crap they packed into ML is appealing to me. If I spend the $20, it will be for the speed enhancements alone. Worth it?

Apple support have emailed me saying to expect a new free upgrade code with the next 24-48 hours, in response to mine showing as already redeemed.

I guess everyone still waiting on a code can expect the same time frame while they fix whatever went wrong.

Guys, how do i get rid of Growl? ver. 1.3.1 - i want it gone completely, it's still in the Sys.pref. no matter what i drag in the bin.

da fuck is going on with my download, every time I restart it stops at 53.25 mb. Is there anyway to download this manually outside the mac app store.

ooo i forgot about gamecenter! i see on 9to5mac that cut the rope is on the mac store now. how can you play that with a mouse though? the ios versions require multitouch for the challenging ones. would it be completely different? has anyone tried it?
