To anyone who is getting the free upgrade because they bought a Mac before June 11, have you received your download code from Apple yet? I submitted my information around 11am this morning and haven't gotten an e-mail from Apple yet.

My code is approved but the support said it could take up to 72 hours to get the redeemable code for the app store.

Not so much fun :/

New Safari doesn't like swiping back to the Gaming of OT page. After loading for a second it goes black. Apart from that it's insanely fast and smooth.

ooo i forgot about gamecenter! i see on 9to5mac that cut the rope is on the mac store now. how can you play that with a mouse though? the ios versions require multitouch for the challenging ones. would it be completely different? has anyone tried it?

Sky Gamblers is now on OS X, too! Awesome!

Has anyone with a mid-2009 Macbook Pro (or similar) tried this one out yet? Any difference in performance vs. Lion?

I have 8GB of RAM and Lion's been slowing down on me lately, especially certain programs (Photoshop CS5, for one), and I'm really hoping performance gets better with this one. Pretty hyped for the new features, though.

Is it also possible for me to burn Mountain Lion to a disk and install it on my other Mac?

yes. i did this with lion by using a usb stick. the process should be very similar. edit: forgot about the size (as mentioned in the post below). use a usb drive!

i'm also pretty sure you should be able to login on the app store on any other mac and just re-download the installer to that computer though. i may be wrong though. i'm just assuming.

It's too big for a standard DVD. 8GB USB stick should work though.

there's ALWAYS ONE
The new Safari is nice, but I can't switch from Chrome until I can find a way to get Userscripts to work.

I just downloaded and installed from the App Store, went to go restart, and now it's stuck on that gray screen with the spinning thing for about 15 minutes. What should I do?

Thank you, gents.

I'd re-download again on my other Mac by logging in, but I figured I'd save time (and bandwidth, not that I need to), by simply putting it on a USB.

I installed this to my MBA mid 2011 (4gb ram) and it's really great. I don't really care about the iOS inspired features (other than seamless iCloud syncing for my documents). But the 3 standout features for me are:

1) Safari is now the fastest, smoothest browser I've ever seen. It really is spectacular.

2) Powernap is a fantastic feature, will love not having to manually update my mac or wait for syncing with the cloud.

3) AirPlay video mirroring is FAR better than AirParrot, AirParrot would lag like a m'fer no matter how much I messed with the settings. There is still a bit of lag if you're messing around with the desktop, the TV screen refreshes a split second later...that doesn't matter too much to me, what really matters is how video responds and I'm glad to say that it is perfectly smooth, zero discernible lag. Just fantastic.

I think it's faster for me, though I reformatted my drive a few days ago in preparation. For 20 bucks I'd say it was worth it.

I still can't get over how fast Safari is, my god. I have never had a faster internet experience in my life. What in the world did they do to massively improve speed?

Seriously, it's pretty fucking amazing. It's nearly worth the price admission alone.

Am I the ONLY one that HATES that felt green color of Game Center? I mean ugh...can I change it from anything other than a shitty billiard table? Because when I think of games...I think of pool......

Is safari going to get a similar speed boost on windows?

If not I'll stick with chrome as my MacBook is a secondary computer.

ergh, ffs, this download is pissing me, despite restarting it about 5 times, it keeps stopping at 53.25mb, is anybody else having the same problem or know how to resolve it.

I read somewhere that Safari for Windows isn't getting an update, looks like Apple may abandon it. Does anyone on windows even use Safari?

You clearly haven't used it in Mountain Lion. Holy shit. Makes even Chrome look slow. I'm impressed. Unfortunately all of my bookmarks are synced in Chrome. Kinda makes it hard to switch.

I'm using Safari on ML right now, lol. I always assumed that the windows version wasn't as good as the mac version (like with iTunes).

Google really has to step up their game now. Apple has clearly dethroned Chrome as the best web browser. Never thought I'd be going back to Safari.

Isn't the Safari update free for everyone? Or does the speed only show when running Mountain Lion?

Speed boost is for mountain lion only. I used Safari 6.0 before ML. It doesn't come close to comparing.

Same here, but the performance and loading speed is truly amazing. I would like to stick to Chrome because you can run it on any platform, and sync tabs across them all, but unless they do some heavy performance improvements for Chrome on Mac, I'm sticking with Safari. Never thought I'd go back either.

Comparing both Chrome and Safari side-by-side, I don't really see a substantial speed increase, although it's slightly faster.

Maybe it's a bit of a placebo, the scrolling is incredibly fast and smooth, and maybe the loading animation in the top bar makes it feel faster than it really is.

I really love using it though, and the iCloud tab sharing with my iPad and iPhone sounds incredible.

LOVING THIS SO FAR! Safari is so fast, love the Twitter integration, notifications and other little touches. Great update on first impressions!

Also, thank GOD Safari now has an integrated search/address bar! Long overdue!

Chrome seems distinctly slower on my early 2011 mbp

As a guy who studies japanese, the dictation feature is the best in the OS. Installed japanese on it, and now I can just talk to the computer to test myself. And it happens so often that I know the word but forgot the symbols, well, boom there it is. Fantastic.

Anyone having iCloud sync issues? My notes are syncing, but iMessages and Safari tabs aren't. I guess I'll reboot my phone to see if that helps.

Haha fair enough.

I doubt it.

So I got it set up. Don't see why everyone is raving about Safari. Chrome seems roughly the same speed? The Verge loaded faster on Safari though. Any good bandwidth heavy sites to test with?

Also, how do you enable power nap? It's not in the options for me. I have a 2011 MB Air
