My MacBook is stuck on start up loading screen it happen before and only way I could fix it was to erase drive and re install Lion OS. I even reinstalled sierra but still won't load. Does anyone have a fix?

Well, I had a similar problem, but it was different in that I was not able re-install an OS. It ended up being an SSD failure (thank fuck for Time Machine).

When you booted into recovery (CMD+R) where you able to run a disk check? Did that say everything was okay?

Came in expecting a new feature on Start Up, was confused, haha.

I'm no help here though. Girlfriend has a Macbook Pro I bought her...but I'm not familiar with the OS.

Can you boot in safe mode (Hold shift while starting)?

Yeah I ran first aid for hard drive said it had no issues

I'm gonna say dying HD don't believe Disk Utils to tell you if its going to die.

Edit: Or dodgy ram.

Not sure but I got it in 2013 if that helps

No but that's the only way I can fix the issue is reinstalling Lion

Is it a retina model or is it a slightly older variation?

I'm leaning this way too. If it is a older MPB, you can take the HDD out and scan it with another utility.

My money is on a disk failure still. Everything is backed up, I hope?

Slight older version. I have one more month of college and this happens fml

Don't fret, hardware failure happens to everyone.

Do you have a spare laptop sized hard drive you can swap in and then install the OS on?

That would be a big tell that the HDD has failed (and being a computer from 2013, it might still be within warranty - so manufacturer (likely Seagate) will replace it.

If you need to get this machine working right away, I would buy a 7200 RPM 1TB HDD (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DOL05OC/?tag=neogaf0e-20) as it is the most economical solution.

If you have more money, get an SSD (minimum 256 GB (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LMXBOP4/?tag=neogaf0e-20)).

The model of MacBook Pro you're using (the pre-retina ones) are easy to do HDD swaps on.

Is it this model?: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Unibody+Mid+2012+Hard+Drive+Replacement/10378
