Mad Max 14min of Gameplay

Really like the visuals, it looks great, though I wanna see a full main mission, I'm afraid that a lot of the content would be Ubi-style fetch and collectibles, I'm just having my reservations on any open world game nowadays, nothing personal against Mad Max.

Wondering if the publisher essentially told them to make Shadow of Mordor with Cars and Guns. Though this looks a lot more fun than Mordor.

There is a lot of scavenging for upgrades, consumables for survival, gas and loot as well. Also lots of customization and the on foot gameplay looks great. There is more to it than that.

All of which can be put under the umbrella of "Boring AC checklist stuff". My biggest concern about this game since its reveal was that it would end up falling victim to the typical open world problems of including too much minutiae and calling it content, a la Far Cry, and this video is confirming those concerns.

Scavenging and survival stuff is going to be used to pad out playtime, mark my words. At some point players are going to realize they're being forced to do way too many repetitive sidequest grinds just to get to the next story mission.

Dat pop in man, jeez, if the final game is like this I will not buy it, I stopped playing Rage because of it aswell I hate it with passion.

Scavenging and survival should be essential parts of a Mad Max game. This is a nuclear wasteland setting, after all.

Of course, if it doesn't have meat besides that, then it's obviously a problem.

It's the PS4 version as seen by the DS4 in the hands of the player. The Xbox One version was shown during the Xbox Daily show today and looked slightly smoother. All other press material shown was PC.

Not that I think the game is being misrepresented this close to release, but it being controlled using a DS4 and sporting DS4 button prompts isn't necessarily incontrovertible proof that the PS4 version is the one being demonstrated.

Even if the game design turns out to be vapid Ubisoft missions, the mechanics look crunchy and fun to me. Hits all those simple beat-em-up pleasure centers of my brain that have somehow survived through the cynicism.

How could it be that bad when it's just rendering a desert, wow. Witcher 3 renders a ton more foliage/rocks and the world is infinitely more detailed than this.

You don't travel the world in fast cars in the Witcher 3, Mad Max has to render stuff much faster than the Witcher. Still looks bad though, hope the PC version doesn't suffer from that.

Looks super fun, definitely a day one purchase for me.

Pop in is slightly annoying, but it's something I will barely notice after the first five minutes. It's all about that gameplay.

All I see is a game with fun looking gameplay. *shrugs* Looking forward to scavenging the wasteland and customizing my ride and Max.

Hmm. Y'know, I couldn't put my finger on it before but there's something I've noticed there being a serious lack of in all the media for this game, and that's the lack of motorcycle enemies. Shame, because the mix of cars, bikes and ATV's could've really liven up the car combat variety.

Again after the Fury Road high I needed this like, in May so just give it to me now!

Ironically Shadow of Mordor wasn't even a project when this first began development back in 2009. lol

Cant unsee Assassin's Creed/Ubisoft influence. Dammit.

Still looks alright though.

For good reason: Assassin Creed's original creator and creative director, Patrice Désilets, was brought on for consultation for Mad Max when they reset the project.

If this wasn't based on a super popular movie no one would give a shit. Gameplay looks really bland and from a technical perspective, it's actually pretty bad.

goddamnit since the grass pop in got mentioned i cant unsee it

so much subjectivity in this comment

For those wondering, you can go into cockpit mode:

And you have to scavenge for stuff like fuel:

Not to mention that building and customizing your own Magnum Opus will just be completely badass:

Everyone keeps saying Ubisoft, but in the actual gameplay I am seeing a lot more than some meaningless collectathon nonsense going on. It actually looks fun as hell to play and explore.

I mean, what would Mad Max do? Look for shit to survive and build up his ride and gear while taking out the threats in his search for peace. That is what this game is. The story looks good, the gameplay looks fun, and hell, there is even a thunderdome.

First person driving?

Thats the pop in solution while driving if there aint a fix.

See we gotta think positively!!

:D

1 minute in and I already hate the host in this video.

The game may look awesome but these days with so many games burning us, I will wait for the reviews. I'm sure IGN will give it a 6.5 or something.

There's something I really like about the dynamic between Max, your vehicle, and the mechanic traveling the wasteland just doing things. It's like games with a horse companion, except the horse isn't dumb as bricks and useless.

If the game is simply comfort food with a Mad Max skin, I'll be fine with that. Anything more is a bonus.
I agree. Already feeling an itch to just cruise around in that car.
