I watched gameplay videos and demos multiple times to know that the game is for me. As I get older, I have moved away from the idea that reviews are law and what they say is exactly how I have to feel and that I'm going to run out and cancel my preorder because some random site gave it a 7. At this point I just use them to make sure the game isn't a broken mess, and even at times you cant even trust them when it comes down to that (IGN Master Chief Collection Review.)
A recent game that I ignored "average" reviews for was Until Dawn, and it turned out to be one of my favorite games of the gen. I've just given up on reviews and all of the bragging/nontravercies/fighting that comes with them. I can't wait until tomorrow to buy this and Phantom Pain.
