"How's the city?"
"Dirty."

One of my favorites from S5, maybe my #1.

Also all this talk of Bad Bitch Betty coming back strong this season has me excited. Hope she kills Megan.

This isn't everybody , but I know some people hate Don because of their own cheating fathers. I know at least one of these in real life, and I think I've seen that here, too. Some stuff is too close to home.

bitch I'm taking calls.
I liked Faye a lot too, but she just wasn't good with his kids, which is ultimately what made Don veer away from her. It was sad when he finally fesses up and calls her and she starts to cry.

Great episode. I'm going to watch "Lady Lazarus" (5.8) and "The Phantom" (5.13) before the premiere on Sunday. I'll probably try and squeeze in another one or two from "Dark Shadows", "Christmas Waltz", "The Other Woman", and "Commissions and Fees" if I have a chance.

- NY Times: The Man Behind ‘Mad Men’ Is Back: Matthew Weiner Talks Season 6
With every ad campaign won or lost by Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, every whiskey swigged, every cigarette smoked and every errant lipstick stain that turns up on the wrong collar, “Mad Men” draws nearer to its end. That AMC period drama begins its second to last season on Sunday with a two-hour premiere. As audiences prepare to get reacquainted with Don Draper, the enigmatic executive played by Jon Hamm, and his colleagues and family, Matthew Weiner, the “Mad Men” creator and show runner, isn’t taking any victory laps.

I liked the Don/Faye relationship. I wonder if that's why I'm not too fond of Megan.
I still think Faye is going to come back to bite him in the ass somehow.

He told her his secret, and followed that up by cheating on her and getting engaged to someone else while they were still dating.

I have to think there will be ramifications for such douchebaggery.

- SF Chronicle Review: 'Mad Men' goes through doorway to the future
Whatever will happen in the finale of "Mad Men" in the seventh season, Don Draper's journey has been and remains maddening, in a very good way as far as what makes a great TV show. The show is, of course, already a classic because of great writing, direction, performances and design, but also because Weiner has consistently nurtured it as a piece of literature. In so doing, he has more than proved that television has the potential to delve as deeply into character as a great novel often does.

I love how Mad Men coming back is such an event. There are other shows on TV with bigger audiences or more awards, but this seems by far the one most considered a cultural touchstone.

The two-hour premiere sure does meander a lot, not very compellingly unless your investment in Mad Men is utterly undiscriminating.

EDIT:
- Jace Lacob for The Daily Beast: Triumphant, Lyrical, and Way Existential
[The season premiere is] gorgeously written by Weiner and directed by Scott Hornbacher.

- Andy Greenwald's review for Grantland: The End of Men
The reason Mad Men is set in the '60s isn't because the clothes were better (though they were) or the misogyny was worse (though it was). It's because the distance allows us to see the characters the way we're unable to see ourselves: as unwilling actors trapped on the unforgiving treadmill of time. We knew long before they did that JFK would be assassinated, that Dylan would go electric, and that the Beatles would blow their minds. There's an air of inevitability and sadness hanging over these final seasons, whatever years they encompass, because we know that the peace and love of Haight-Ashbury is bound for the drug-filled doom of Altamont, that Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream will be derailed by a bullet on a hotel balcony in Memphis. But most of all we know that, like us, every one of these brilliantly realized characters, so alive and vibrant in the moment, so desperate to stay afloat amid the riptide of history, will eventually grow old and die.

AMC's "Mad Men" returns for season six this Sunday, April 7. As fans anxiously await the premiere, the show's creators and stars are largely keeping their lips sealed about what's ahead. But on HuffPost Live Tuesday, actor Ben Feldman, who plays copywriter Michael Ginsberg on the show, hinted that the upcoming season could surprise some fans.

Very disappointed that there was no Megan on all fours, cleaning. Very.

I've been trying to board the Mad Men train for the past 4 years, always failing miserably at the 6th episode of Season 1. I love the production design, love (some of) it's characters, appreciate the writing, yet... I can't get into it. It's enormously frustrating.

Anyone here that's now a fan went through the same situation? I guess it's a stupid question, but I really want to get into this show.

- Entertainment Weekly Review: Mad Men
The worst thing about ''The Doorway'' is its size: Like Betty's frumpy frocks, Mad Men's supersize episodes aren't flattering. Weiner should stick with tighter, denser storytelling packages.

On my season 5 rewatch, on Far Away Places right now. Roger's LSD trip is fucking amazing, Bert's face on the money, seeing the baseball game in the tub.

she's not the only critic to be complaining a lot about this lately, weiner needs to lighten up. Not that it matters to me though but it sucks for them.

Eh, I appreciate the fact that Weiner tries to keep things under wraps. Critics need to stop complaining about this every year.

“Mad Men” is like Don Draper’s dream ad campaign: It makes us crave even more of what’s not there. 3 out of 4 stars

Contrary to some here, I really enjoy Megan's character. I'll be a sad panda if Don goes back to his man whore ways behind her back.

I also don't think the relationship was meant to last. There was that point last season when Megan was talking about how long she need to be gone (3 months?) if she landed one of those theater roles. Later saying she would chose Don between him and her acting career...but end up resenting him for it. The whole thing really mirrored what happened between me and my ex, actually

I think Megan will end up needing to leave at some point. Don will feel abandoned, go drink his his sorrows away and end up banging some floozy out of bitterness. By the time Megan visits or returns, Don will be distant with her and the whole relationship will slowly and painfully go down in flames. I hope I'm wrong :(

Not even going to take that long, Don fucked 'are you alone' chick right as the credits rolled clearly

I'm not so sure, f0rk. I saw that bit as more metaphorical than literal but I guess we will see.
I think Megan will cheat on Don before Don cheats on Megan.
I think this would be an interesting route. It's unexplored ground, especially since Don has always been the cheater up until now so it would be interesting to see how he reacts to it unprovoked.
