this season may be shaping up to be my favorite yet. didn't think season 3 could be topped, then season 4 happened.

fantastic ending

Good episode and ending.

Don...you knew the risks, you can't flaunt your swag like that and expect it to last.

Outstanding start to the season, makes the wait for Sunday that much more difficult.

Don is so fucking despicable. I'm openly rooting against him now.

With that said, this season has been amazing so far.

He's awesome.

Just watched the 11pm rerun and this episode was OK. Not much happened really, with the exception of the affair thing. Of course it's pretty hard to top the last episode, which was a total emotional rollercoaster.

When did awesome start to mean selfish, life-wrecking douchebag?

What happened with Dawn?

Two separate times, her non-presence in front of Don's office affected things.
It was odd because I can completely understand them not having her in the episode because of her contract or whatever, but it was so pointed that she was mentioned multiple times but never showed up.

I have never been on the "Don is unlikable", "Don is the worst", etc for this show. I've always found him to be a conflicted, deep, and dark character that was fascinating to watch. I don't feel that way this season, I now see him as unredeemable at this point. So glad Sylvia is done with him, and I didn't feel bad for him at all.

Nice episode outside of the Don powertrip with Sylvia. The plane was fucking hilarious. Also, I died at "Ted can fly my mother to hell".

Yeah this season pushed me over the edge when it comes to Don.

he is one slick ass motherfucker despite being a broken man

Also I'm still chuckling at Peggy thinking Don did the merger to get her back, haha.

Slick is just another word for despicable.

And you are wrong if you think Peggy didn't play a large role in Don wanting to merge with Ted's company. We all saw his smug ass face when they broke the news to Peggy.

Yeah, lots of Don hate material here. Something bad is coming for him.

Hope Bob Benson's decency isn't a feint. I've liked the actor ever since those 10 minutes Lone star was on.

Ted Chaough is also becoming a favorite character. And not (entirely) because I finally know how to spell his last name.

1. Ted is obviously the anti-Don. I figured they were hinting at it, but it's pretty clear. Also,I'm loving Ted more and more. He is an awesome character and someone we can actually root for.

2. Bob Benson being useful! I think he was sincere and I liked it. Also Joan looks better not made up (or IRL made up to look not made up I suppose) on her face.

3. Roger firing Bert again was hilarious. The way he enjoyed it so much was lol. Figured Slattery directed this episode. Also, I am going to use his line IRL "you stole my goodbye."

4. Wow Pete. Douche big time today. I wonder how dementia was looked at in the 60s. Also, there's only 2 ways for this to go with Pete. Either he finds a way to bring in a huge client and totally redeem himself or he's through. He knows it, as well.

5. I love how the episode was about things mostly coming together. Pete being forced together with his mom. Sylvia going back to her husband. CGC and SDCP coming together. Joan possibly with Bob. However, it was juxtaposed against Don having everything break apart. He loses Sylvia by the end. He thinks he has Peggy back but the relationship has changed (she demands of him to lay off Ted), meetings happened without him, and Ted asserts control over him (the plane). And most of all, it seems like his relationship with Megan is falling apart. he doesn't care what she says, he doesn't even care to console her about Bobby Kennedy's death. He's alone again.

Extra: I liked how Bobby Kennedy was at the very end of the episode. They already did a whole episode with the specter of MLK Jr's assassination and so it was nice to not retread the same ground (especially with JFK having once had an episode) and making it a point to end the episode with rather than have it throughout.

Great episode tonite. the Plane ride, Bob being fired, Don getting shit turned on him.

Good times.
