Last thought, Betty is a damn consummate professional when it comes to cheating. She did that shit slick. Left the door open as a hint, left in the morning. Even made some pithy comments.

If you're gonna cheat, that's how it's done.

The way he broke up with Peggy paints him as a slimeball.

well i must be missing something then because i didn't see anything about it indicative of a slimeball. if anything i'm surprised he put up w/ her for that long. they're just living in two different worlds.

Betty was kind of looking to cheat anyhow and she knew from experience Don wont say anything.

Abe is a moron. He lets his idealism blind him to feeling of everyone around him. It's easy for him to be so judgmental when he is doing it on someone else's dime with zero personal responsibility.

Even though the scene between Betty and Don was really good, I'm really disappointed that she cheated on Henry. He is so understanding and forgiving of her, no matter the situation, and she treats that so flippantly.

Also, Roger, don't you dare mess up Joan & Bob. You can't waltz into her life every time you need a confidence boost.

I wasn't sure if Peggy was making a move at the end to find some emotional support in Don after being shut down by Ted or if it was just supposed to be an unconscious thing from before she left.

Yeah I read that as more or less the point of that scene, I think the line between deliberate action and unconscious habit can be effectively blurred.

it wasnt entirely convincing on bettys part

i could see don going through with it cause hes bored of megan and just got dumped by lindsay weir but i dont really get where betty was coming from

i mean shes had like 2 scenes this whole season and one of them is cheating with don

She did it because she knows she can. She thrives on attention, and now that she's back in shape and men are paying her notice again, she's testing her boundaries. Don isn't going to tell anyone, so she has free reign. Plus, it's a way for her to exert power of him, because she doesn't have any emotional attachment to Don anymore.

But Henry has loved her through all her mishaps, even when she demonstrated some truly vile behavior. It's a bit sickening how Betty now just takes that for granted.

Honestly, the Joab storyline would be boring if they didn't have some kind of conflict.
Eh, I think Joan and Bob deserve to have some happiness. I'd rather the dramatic tension for their characters come from somewhere else than someone trying to pull them apart. Roger has been down this path too many times, he needs to move on.

The way he broke up with her was despicable. He confessed to using Peggy as a case study to write his article.

Its apparent they are living in two separate worlds. His views doesn't make him a slimeball. The way he broke up with Peggy by confessing his inner-feelings in the way he did is what makes him a slimeball.

Are people really posting about being disappointed in BETTY for cheating? Have you not seen any of the episodes of the show containing Don?

The disappointment in Don is a constant for me. He's a black hole of disgust, and I've expressed this numerous times.

But Betty and Henry seemed to be really a solid relationship. I was hoping that Betty would realize that Henry has unconditional love for her, but obviously that's not enough for her.

i think it just evolved into that as he saw the story potential in their situation, which i have no problem with or his confession.

Lot of stuff happened in this episode. At first I thought it was too all over the place.

1. I hated how Don and Betty hooked up at first and how predictable it was but then the restaurant scene right after made it worth it. Betty with Henry and Don alone and him looking around realizing he just got used. Plus, it seems to be a catalyst to bring him back close to Megan, which means a real change for him.

2. Bob Bunson!

3. lol, I don't know why I didn't see Peggy stabbing Abe coming. Hilarious scene. I knew early on the breakup was coming. It was about time, honestly.

4. Nice to see Duck back and seemingly in decent shape.

5. The ending cinematography with Peggy was excellent along with the music choice.

6. Almost a lesbian scene for Megan. That was also hilarious and I didn't expect it.

7. Bob Bunson!

Uh that fuckface basically pressures her into living in a hell hole where meth heads take dumps on her steps, sirens are blaring at all hours, riots, stabbings etc. AND THEN he has the audacity to call her a coward when she is forced to sleep in her living room because the window was broken by a rock thrower. Abe is such a fucking clueless bleeding heart moron. Christ.

I'm all about bob benson and him playing the long game in the office. Dudes gunna run the company by the end of the show. Just watch.

And Betty is back in prime mode. Someone hook her up with a white nighty for next week.

Nice guys never win.

Terminator was my favorite movie when I was 4, so maybe I just can't understand the perspective.

It's also been a while since I saw Planet of the Apes, so maybe I just don't remember what would cause fear or whatever.
I mean Bobby liked it too.

Folks know and accept Don is a slimeball, I think its just that some people have difficulty when there's no 'good guy'. Don is the asshole so surely Betty must be the good one right? Nope..... most everyone on this show has some pretty horrible shit going. That's why I like it, lol.

I don't get how Planet of the Apes is scary.

Yeah, how could a movie about humans being rounded up and having their ability to speak removed and thrown in cages by big loud hairy creatures possibly be scary to a four year old. And really they'd just laugh off the idea of their species' impending extinction by nuclear war while, by day, learning how to duck under a table or a desk in the event of a nuclear weapon exchange.

I mean come on, toughen up kids.

Weird episode, but I loved it. Betty and Don scenes were excellent. At first I found the whole situation with them hooking up sort of odd. I don't know how to describe it. A little predictable. But them talking after the deed and the short scene the next morning when Henry showed up was all great.

Speaking of Betty, goddamn. January Jones looked so fine. Back on top of the mutha fuckin' game for sure.

Rest of the episode was fun to watch as well. Felt bad for Peggy and Roger in their respective situations, though.

Although Roger used the "who" line this week, I still think 2 Coffees is going down the elevator shaft.
Lmfao. I totally forgot about that elevator. What season was that? Or was it multiple seasons? Where it seemed like every episode hinted at that elevator shaft being pure evil. I was certain half the office was going to die in there.

EDIT: I love Joan with Bob, though I'm still not totally clear on who the hell Bob is. Maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention, but I feel a little clueless about what he is at the agency and any sort of background information on him. Actually worried about what Weiner might unleash about his character. Dude seems a bit too nice for this show.

Sometimes, I wonder if that's Bob Benson seems too nice, or that's we're not used to seeing someone nice on show working in advertising, since most of the men have demonstrated poor character and that leads to people assuming Bob will turn out the same way.

EDIT: Yeah the carousel scene was great, though I enjoyed the pilot.

I get what you mean. It's absolutely the show. That's why I mentioned Weiner "unleashing" something about Bob. Within the context of Mad Men I've been trained to expect some sort of crisis or issue with every character. Whether a personal flaw or something in their family/career. I like it, though. Either we get some crazy reveal about Bob's character, or we're thrown a different sort of curveball when he just ends up being a genuinely nice guy with no dark secrets.

"Who is Bob Benson" is an interesting Google search :lol guess I'm not alone in wondering about his character. I don't really read TV reviews or articles or anything so I figured I had just missed something about him earlier in the season and everyone else knew who he was. But I'm seeing all kinds of speculation. Like him being connected to the government and trying to investigate the whole Dick Whitman issue (probably a stretch, but an entertaining idea nonetheless).
