It's a steppe creature though and that's primarily white.
Rhinos have been primarily green though.

Budget EDH deck attempt number three: After doing some goldfishing on XMage, I decided I wanted to play a ramp deck and that Xenagos is hilarious. This is my first draft of it - mana dorks and some mana rocks to try getting him out on turn four, then a fatty on turn five, then death from above. I also like that RG lands are generally cheap so it wouldn't totally break the bank if I got a decent manabase for this. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm sure y'all are tired of this shit anyway.
Play Triumph of Ferocity and Greater Good (Sylvan Library is too expensive) for some much needed digging. I also like Green Sun Zenith as a silver bullet but that's on the pricey side. There's also Worldly Tutor. Add Savage Beating for extra combat steps. Seems better than Furnace of Rath and Dictate of the Twin Gods. If your group plays a lot of blue, Vexing Shusher and Spellbreaker Behemoth are nice to have. Finally, you have to have Ruric Thar. He can be your lieutenant! I also really like Spearbreaker Behemoth.

I usually don't join the doomtrain that chugs through the mtg community during spoiler season (this set is worse than a butthole full of wasps! rabblerabblerabble!) but....man this set does seem well... waspy buttholey.

I'd love to be surprised though with an awesome limited game and surprise value cards.

Is there a reason there are no white Eldrazi cards beyond 'White is the colour of good', even though they keep telling us it isn't and it shouldn't be viewed so simplistically?

Creature - Elf, Shaman, Ally - Rare

Haste

Tap: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool. Use this mana only to cast creature spells.

They come because I call, they stay because I listen.

1/1

I hope that's a lotus cobra... but then I'll be sad since we wont see it reprinted
Pretty cool it has haste though.

EDIT: 5c Allies baby! Also, if the picture isn't working for you (it isn't on my work computer and occasionally doesn't load on chrome on my phone) heres the link to the site: http://www.planetmtg.de/articles/artikel.html?id=6941

They really want standard elves to become a thing. In modern I'd rather have the cantrip elf though

I want 4 for my ally deck though, don't tell me it's a rare.

Come on it's a 2CMC mana dork you can only spend on creatures. If I don't get an expedition or at least 2 Kiora's from all the packs I'm going to buy I'm gonna hate myself.

That's the first mana dork I can remember that has Haste. There has got to be a way to abuse this in a combo deck somewhere

If I wanted to abuse a dork that gave me mana straight away, I would use Burning-Tree Emissary.

EDIT: I'm watching the Modern Super League replay from last night, and I'm getting a lot of joy out of watching Patrick Dickmann show how good Bounding Krasis can be in Temur Twin. Also, Dickmann finding the right line in game three as both of the casters are talking about two less-optimal lines was awesome. I'll be honest - I didn't see Patrick's line, but it was great.

Long oversight we didn't have Giraffe creatures yet

I don't feel like I'm sticking my neck out too much to suggest they have Reach.

I don't get that art. It looks like they were trying to go for sexy/ripped but his body and abdomen look all wrong. Like they are lumpy or like something is crawling/slinking underneath that guys skin.
It's not that amazing in Standard Elves unless they print another 1CMC elf that's playable.
If B/W elves moves into black more they could use gnarlroot trapper. He ramps into this card nicely

When I say another, I mean other than Trapper which is currently the only 1CMC card that's playable in elves post-rotation. Thoughtseize and Elvish Mystic are both rotating out. Elves will never be good enough with only 1 1CMC card to play.

Hey I figured this might be a good thread to ask this question:

Does anyone know what the contracts that artists get for doing illustrations for games like Magic look like?

Feel free to ignore if this is a little too off topic.

Bant Wombo Combo could run Emrakul/Some fatty as an additional win con, right?
T1: Forest, Dork
T2: Land, KotR
Turn 3: Retreat, tap, start cycle/finish cycle, have 20 Mana floating, Cast Nissa's Rev,find Emrakul, Draw 15/gain 15, play your land drop, untap the hierarch, pay 15 for Emrakul, swing with extra turn

It's super Christmas land though.

Edit: Yes, I know Chord of Calling does it for 18, but this gets the cast Trigger.

The third card is what makes this janky. Just swing with the giant Knight.

It's a set fee per piece, and you give up all rights to the piece. I can't remember how much per piece though. It might vary based on what kind of card it's for.

I don't know why some people thought there wouldn't be enough ingest/processors without seeing all of the common/uncommons. MaRo has said plenty of times if your theme doesn't work at common it can't be your theme, so getting nervous after seeing the rares is a little weird.

I think a lot of the cards that will make this set "feel" eldrazi-like will be at common/uncommon.

I think I've read that its around an average of $1000 a piece, but I could be completely wrong on that number.

That happened with Dragons

Drana is the Brimaz of the set - big value creature that gets out of hand if you let her live too long.

In limited the processors lose a lot of value if you're behind in boardstate.

Like the new Voidmage, you need to have an ingest creature and at least gotten through once or one of the exile spells to bounce anything. It being able to trade with 3 toughness creatures is a small upside.

I really like the white + processor synergy though. Making all your exile enchantments removal instead and getting extra value off of them.

Drana is the Brimaz of the set - big value creature that gets out of hand if you let her live too long.

for which archetype though. Isn't Anafenza just better for Abzan, Esper Dragons?
