Man

Split the cost of an Innistrad and a Scars of Mirrodin booster box

Holofoil Snapcaster Mage
Regular Snapcaster Mage
Liliana of the Veil

Among many other really good cards

$141.71 minimum value of all of my cards. Awesome

DailyMTG will reveal the rest of the set on Monday.

Good to hear. That being said, WOTC really needs to spread out their spoiler seasons. Getting 70+ cards dumped on us all in one day is a bit overwhelming. Spoiler season should have started as soon as the New Year started or even earlier. Give all the cards the appropriate time to breathe.

I miss the good old days when entire sets would be spoiled weeks before the pre-release.

I'm looking for a good magic clone on the iPhone. Anyone got suggestions? Many thanks!

Try Ascension. I haven't played it, but it's a mix between a board game and a trading card game that's supposed to be very good. Also, it's made by Magic pros.

Since all the cards I have are at least ten years or older I bought two intro packs (Mystical Might from the core set and Repel the Dark from Innistrad) and a couple boosters and put together a deck I'll start with in Standard on Fridays.

I'm using three copies of Jade Mage and Undead Alchemist to create tokens, let them die and augment Unruly Mob. If Mindshrieker, Selhoff Occultist or Curse of the Bloody Tome are on the battlefield zombies are created so quickly I can finish the game in a couple turns.

I know I could greatly improve the zombie token combo if I had more copies of Undead Alchemist, but until Dark Ascension hits I'd like to avoid investing in more purchases.

EDIT: I couldn't resist and bought ten more boosters and found more copies of Undead Alchemist, Mindshrieker and Curse of the Bloody Tome. Played with the improved deck yesterday and won all three games.

I guess my obsession with this game has run its course. Havent played in months and now im sitting on hundreds of dollars worth of cards. I dont want to get rid of them but feel like i should.

You're just in time for the Dark Ascension pre-release! :D

Bail out now or else give wizards all your money

ALL YOUR MONEY

My local store is running 5 prereleases over the weekend including midnight Friday and Saturday... I'm considering going midnight Friday and dropping after a game or 2 (owner said it's fine) then turning up 10:30am Saturday... Is something wrong with me? 10:30am Sunday as well if I'm not too hungover.

Ascension
Moonga
Dungeon Sol
Kard Combat

All great, easy to learn card games for iOS. All have free trials except Ascension. A Beta for Moonga is actually on Facebook now too.

Damn, the new set prerelease has really snuck up on me. Should make for a good weekend. Maybe I'll even bother to read the spoiler this time.

I haven't played it, but a bunch of Magic pros love Ascension. It was actually created by former Magic pro Justin Gary.

It's a fun game actually. Your goal is to make the best deck. I'm trying to get the actual board game but the shipping is always so high.

Kard Combat was designed by none other than Richard Garfield himself. Cards in the game are drawn by former MTG artists from the early days too.

Wow.

Reading the comments on my Magic twitter list has been interesting so far.

First I've heard of the game actually. I'll definitely check that one out as well.

The one thing I'm not a fan of is the "sacrifice a human theme", since it doesn't show up in colors with a lot of humans so I don't think it will get to be activated very often.

Not really a good reason to make the card mythic though. I would expect something a lot bigger in scope from a mythic sorcery with cmc 8.

I'm also surprised that some cards have pretty bad flavor, such as Chalice of Life/Chalice of Death. Chalice of Death just...doesn't really make much sense. How exactly are you gonna damage your opponent with a chalice ?

ever watch indiana jones: the last crusade?

Why would my opponent drink from a chalice called "Chalice of Death" that looks rather uninviting ? The effect is also repeatable, why would he drink more than once from it ? Obviously you don't throw the chalice at your opponent, otherwise you probably could only use it once. So I guess you...throw whatever is in the chalice at your opponent ? I know I'm overthinking this, but it really sticks out for me.
its a metaphor for alcoholism.

You get 2 HP for every single card in your graveyard. Say you're fighting a mill deck, play this late game and you get your library restored and like 40-80 hp. It's a nice card, just fairly specific.

Maybe they just want to continue tricking new players into thinking that life gain is good.

Well, this graveyard deck I have has like 4 Gnaw to the Bones, which gets my life into the 100's easily at such a small cost. Sure, I'm not closer to winning, but my opponent now has to do monumental amounts of damage to kill me. Late game, I will probably win with most of my deck in the grave yard and monsters that get +X/+X based on creatures in my/all graveyards.

Just my experience with lifegain. I'm not a crazy awesome tournament player (i play mostly casual), though, so keep that in mind.

I forgot the difference between shroud and hexproof. Shroud prevents you from targeting your own creature when hexproof allows you to?

Hope to pull the UW spirit lord too. Should go good with midnight haunting/honor of the pure. Now if only I bought a set of Seachrome Coast when it was cheap. Think it's going for $16 each now. D:

Wow I hadn't seen this, lords that give shroud/hexproof are pretty busted.

Not really, it took Delver to push Illusions over the edge as playable and that deck has evolved past them. The Lord himself is still a vulnerable 2/2 (unless you get two of them out).

The decks built around him and spirit tokens will be interesting but probably not busted.

Kind of disappointed in this expansion. Other than some of the WB goodness, it falls flat compared to Innistrad.

Shame. Was looking forward nabbing Booster Box + Fat pack + 1 of each theme deck promo for 165 $ that a store runs around here, but I'll save that money for Avacyn Restored instead.

They got my hopes up by spoiling all the money cards first. Any chance I was going to buy a box is gone... it looks to be a great draft set though.
