Looks like December's FNM Promo is Gitaxian Probe.

Do they usually give out non-standard legal cards for FNM?

They have in the past. I guess it's not "normal" but it is done. There was some crappy rhino card who years ago that wasn't standard legal. I think tec edge and a couple others were too after they rotated. It's cool but I have 0 interest in it now that new phyrexia rotated, I'll never use it again.

Back when Extended was still a thing, most FNM cards were extended staples. Thinking back to 2010, we got cards like Bloodbraid Elf, Rift Bolt, Quasali Pridemate, Wild Nactl, ect. Going back further, they were all extended cards. Standard FNM cards is a more recent thing.

Okay if your creature is hexproof, and the enemy casts an ability that can do damage to all creatures you control or something to that effect, does that hexproof creature take damage?

Or does hexproof only block things that specifically target it?

Hexproof only stops things from actually targeting it. So if your opponent casts Day of Judgement, its going to destroy the Hexproof creature.

Yeah. Hexproof only stops things that specifically say Target on the card text. So something that hits everything still hits it.

So if it says target player, and not target creature, all of the creatures under that player are effected, even if they are hexproof?

Edit: Also, if a creature is already tapped, and your opponent casts a spell to tap a creature (and then it cant attack the next turn; sleep card) what happens? Does it have no effect on an already tapped creature?

Yeah, it just stays tapped. (It also stays tapped through the next untap after that if it's something like Sleep that taps it for essentially 2 turns.)

"CARDNAME deals 3 damage to all creatures target player controls" hits all creatures, even with hexproof yes.

Has no effect. I think the tapped creature might actually be an invalid target, but I'm not sure about that. I know that it has no effect because of Lorthos, the Tidemaker.

EDIT: Nah, its totally a valid target, it just has no effect. Just remembered that "tap target untapped creature" effects exist.

Soooooooo did a draft. Guy next to me is a friendly guy. We always have nice banter.

He passed me jace, knowingly.

What do you do?

After the matches I traded it back to him for one of his pulls, $5 dreadbore.

Is it possible he knew you'd trade it back, playing on your niceness with phony niceness?

Just kidding, really, sounds like a good dude, and it was nice of you to trade it back.

I've done similar before. My shop is pretty lax with rules unless you're blatantly doing something wrong but one kid who just started and was younger passed me an ajani from m13 when he was crazy expensive in his first pack and I passed it back to him and told him he should take ajani.

There was a husband and wife who would come up to our local game store. They would bring their two kids, and the whole family played Magic. During one of the drafts, the wife, a very sweet lady, knowingly passed the w/b Sorin (when it was still a hot card) to a newer player who really liked Sorin.

So yeah, people are sometimes super-generous when they draft.

Why are there no dual colored Green/White cat legends? I want to make a Lion King-themed EDH deck but there are no solid Commanders in the theme. Dang it

Its not really feasible for game stores, but in my group we re-draft the rares at the end specifically so that people make their picks based on deck composition, not card value

Seeing as how we're practically guaranteed a blue/red one in this block, white/green and blue/green are the only two 2-color PWs left to happen.

Well we know the 2 Gatecrash Planeswalkers, Gideon and this new G/R one. I'm assuming Dragon's Maze being a small set will only have the one (the B/R guy), so no G/W Garruck for awhile yet.

Someone told me that there was only going to be 3 Walkers this block, but I would have sworn MaRo said on Twitter there will be 5. Can anyone confirm one way or another?

I wouldn't expect G/W Garruk (if he happens) until they continue the Garruk/Liliana plot threads, so the block after RTR or even the one after that, depending on where they head next

No one here is interested in buying cards for money are they? I think I may be getting out for a while and just wanted to make sure before I put most of them on ebay. I just have stuff from standard really.

Dude, just hold on to them. You'll be back and then you'll do what everybody does and go "I shouldn't have sold them"

Haha, I sort of want to switch to online anyhow if I do come back in I think. There's very little that's holding me to sticking with the paper game but I'm not sure how you would sell cards eventually with that.

That sort of depends on the card. I mean, look at Primeval Titan.

I'd definitely hold on to any dual lands you might have, Zaraki.

Primeval Titan getting banned in almost every format it could be relevant in after rotation didn't do it any good, which I'm still upset about, but I understand your point.

Most duals I have are the core set duals that are like $1 a piece.

Edit: Those preorder prices are absurd.

Ah, I was referring more to stuff like Zendi fetches, or Scars duals. That said, if it were me, I'd keep at least a playset of some of my favorites for casual decks or whatever. I always kick myself after parting with duals (which is why I'm jealously hoarding shocklands).
