Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

Ok, I need a definitive answer:

Can I turn off my PS4 while downloading a game in the Background? I can't pause it because it's in the background, and I don't want to put into Rest Mode.

Or should I leave my PS4 on for 4 more hours? Is there a problem o leave it on downloading or is it safe without risk of damaging it?

Why don't you want to put it into Rest mode?

Just let my friend SharePlay Destiny for like 30 minutes while I picked up around a bit and took a shower. Really neat.

But it got me thinking again about a question I'm sure has come up plenty of times. How do you think publishers felt/feel about Sony implementing this feature? Conceptually, it is no different than a friend coming over to your house and beating a game over several visits.

But with this, everyone who owns a PS4 can do that. Granted, depending on connection, the video quality may suffer, or there may be some latency issues, but with a good connection, none of these are issues. But regardless, that will be good enough for a lot of people, and I have no doubt a lot of people will beat a few games this way.

I kind of want to SharePlay and beat my friend's Ground Zeroes, just because I can. Also wanna see how it feels at 30fps.

I was looking for the PS4 themes on the UK PSN store and these popped up. I went to sign in so I could add them to my basket and they vanished...

Just want to be safe, actually.
And I haven't restarted it after the update, and people say that Rest Mode will only work properly if you restart it.

I didn't restart. I just put it in Rest waited a few minutes (for no particular reason) and turned it back on.

The odds Rest messes up for you are slim. The odds Rest actually bricks your PS4 is even slimmer. By a lot. Most likely you'll just have to unplug.

Go to "New this Week", then scroll down and pick Themes on the left navbar and they should show up.

Really liking the update. Took a thumb drive out of my camera bag and put it into the PS4- turns out it already had music in a folder called "MP3."

Started racing in Driveclub with my own music instantly. Nice.

Tried to link my PSN to my Google account. First time it didn't do anything. Second time it looked like it went through, got an error, but then still allowed me to edit the movie title and stuff. Tried uploading and it failed.

With all talk about performance, I don't think anyone expects this to be a serious alternative to actually owning titles.

You say that, but here's a direct quote from the GTA V content announcement comments on the UK blog:

Anyone know the deal with shared play on this? Could I potentially play online if a mate has it and I do not?

Not owning, but playing and beating something you might have rented or bought really cheap. I agree, it's not a substitute for owning, but for many people, it will be good enough to beat a game. As I mentioned, I am aware of the performance issues, but this all seems to come down to connection. But yes, I think in the end, most people that would beat a game like this probably weren't going to buy it otherwise, or would not buy it new.

God.

Damn.

That's annoying.
I still don't understand why with something like Toro they don't just release it across all regions. What actual harm does it do, aside from earning them some more money?

Is there a legitimate downside to doing it, or something stopping them? I'm assuming licensing in this case isn't a problem.

Where do I find the proper way to launch Live from Playstation?
The only place I can see is under what's new section and you need to search for it to get in and even then it can only show you streams from one game at a time that you can choose rather than having a featured list like before.

It's in your library

Sony, like God(s), works in mysterious ways.

Shouldn't it be on the home page? Unless you haven't used it in awhile and it fell into your library.

Can't access those outside of the UK. I'm on the UK store but can't find them anywhere. I don't see a "what's new this week" on the left at all and there's no spot for themes.

If you search "theme" on the UK store it comes up, along with some Dynasty Warriors themes, make sure to limit to PS4.
