I wish it wasn't coming from the horse's mouth, but seem like Warner folks are happy with the film

I don't need screenings to get hyped about this movie from what I have seen and read. I'm going on my own views/opinion this time around. I don't need hyperbole like best movie of the year, I'm sick of that sort of shit.

I just need better than Superman Returns esp after that bleh was praised in screenings and it wasn't just WB praising it at the time if I recall. I learned my lesson in 2006 and was greeted with Stalkerman and Piano Boy.

This annoys me "The movie is complete, minus the 3D post-conversion, which is currently taking place" ... Fuck the 3D post bs, wish it could come out sooner :(

Not to delve into it, but Superman Returns was well reviewed post-release, too. It was just the average comic book movie goer that's soured the rep more than anything.

I remember WB's early viewings of Green Lantern having piss-poor buzz, if that's any consolation of integrity over these things.

Oh I know it was (which hyped me up even more despite being spoiled about the piano, which I still didn't want to believe at the time and had to see it for my own eyes) Went and saw it opening day and left feeling so utterly disappointed. I hyped that movie on GAF for so long and got maybe a couple of moments of enjoyment from it.

Green Lantern looked like shit first teaser/images, something Man of Steel hasn't imo.

I'm not ready to believe in Zack Snyder. He hasn't hit the mark since 300.

You will believe a man can direct a new great Superman movie... should be the tag line.

I think Snyder has done a great job in the movies I've seen, but that's probably just me. The direction of Watchmen wasn't it's problem, and I thoroughly enjoyed Sucker Punch. The action scenes alone should make this Superman worth it.

So I poked around Rubies Costumes website to see if they had their MOS stuff or catalog up and they did but it was behind a dealer only section of the site. Somehow I managed to break it and get access to the catalog and here's some of their MOS offerings. lol

Looks like more Bale rumors are coming up. If they are true, it sounds like Warner Brothers is so confident in Man of Steel that they'd try and end it with a Bale cameo.

"Ever since Man of Steel started doing test screenings, early reviews have started leaking out. All the reviews seem to have one thing in common. They are all extremely positive. In fact, Nikki Finke of Deadline slipped in her own feedback on the Man of Steel in a post about Jack the Giant Slayer bombing. In mentioning upcoming movies, Finke referenced, “the hotly anticipated Man Of Steel which by many accounts overdelivers. (That’s the buzz following its first internal screening.)” We assume overdelivers is meant to be a good thing and that she isn’t criticizing the movie for being too good."

Who wants a pair? lol

Now we're taking fucking Nikke Finke's impressions? The woman doesn't watch movies. And her striking up another cynical 'Let's watch this fucker burn' campaign against Jack like she did with John Carter is one of the many reasons I hope she contracts an aggressive form of carpel tunnel.

I don't think it's her impressions *that site said her feedback, but I don't think she was implying she saw it going by what she wrote*, I think she was taking others peoples views and just throwing that into her bs talk. Also Jack looks god fucking awful and I don't need her telling me otherwise. John Carter is fucking awesome so she can go fuck off for that.

Feels like you want this movie to suck or fail hard. Go pop in Superman Returns and look at some pretty scenery :P

That's what she wrote. Not sure if that means she saw it, too vague imo.

Why is watchmen dismissed so much? I enjoyed it quite a bit. I haven't read the graphic novel. Can't get past the dated illustrations. Did it crap on the story or something?

Watchmen was pretty good. The problem is it was adapting "one of the best comics ever" (not my words. I haven't read it myself :p) and there were high expectations. Many people didn't even think it should have been made at all.

From what I know, it's slavishly faithful outside of the ending.

Everyone hates Snyder it seems. I happen to think he's the perfect fit for Superman as long as he didn't write it and he didn't.

I could care less if Sucker Punch sucked a big one. Ive enjoyed the rest of his films, including Watchmen.

the casting in watchmen was horrible.

i'm glad the studios reigned him in and didn't let him cast flunkies like malin akerman and that other woman who's in all of his films.

instead we got somebody legit to play lois

Fuck are you talking about? I was one of the first on the Snyder Man of Steel bandwagon when people were getting all uppity about him getting the job.

I just hate how much stock is put into the first impressions that come out because they're ALWAYS the same for hotly anticipated flicks like this. Internet journalists and bloggers eager to be linked and retweeted over and over again and high on the idea of being able to pass on their own assurances to masses of people who are made happy at those assurances.

The GAF impressions we got earlier are perhaps the only down to earth impressions I've seen so far.

WTF do you think the :P face was for. I'm fucking around with you cause I saw your Singer Returns post earlier today in the X-men thread. I know Solo is the one wanting this to fail.

I get where you're coming from, but I'm glad it's not awful word of mouth like Green Lantern was getting from inside and out. Obviously the trailers tell us we might have a great Superman film and that's all I need. I just linked an article, I didn't say I was taking what she said to heart. I find her as annoying as you do.

Because Snyder and WB took something so sacred and ruined it!

No really I don't know. I guess it has to do with the fact that the creator of Watchmen didn't want it to be made into a movie. How he wrote it so it can't be made into a movie. And then they did. I thought the movie was great. Lifted right off the pages.

I enjoyed it more than 300. Never watched Sucker Punch so don't know if its as bad as everyone claims.

Remember all that hot buzz around GL? Or John Carter?

Watchmen had me all the way until the last 45 minutes. The ending to that book is crucial and multi-layered. It just ultimately seemed like such a stupid move to people who've read it. Why keep it faithful and then change the ending like that? What was the point? The ending worked so perfectly in the books and is what makes you sit back in your chair and say wow. There was no real reason to change it too other than "we didn't want to see bodies in New York because of 9/11." That and a few other things held the movie back.

As a big Watchmen comic fan though, I truly admire what Snyder did with it up until the owl sex scene. I think it all went downhill for me there.

THAT being said, as soon as he was mentioned to direct and NOT write Superman I was BEYOND excited. FINALLY, the world is going to see the bad ass Superman that kicks ass that I know and love, with a good character story to make people root for him. Instead of hearing the constant "durr he's overpowered and people should be able to tell it's Clark!"

Super stoked for this movie.

I would literally cry if that happened. I mean I would break down in the theater. It would be to much awesomeness for me. I'm getting emotional typing this.

I'm starting to get super hyped for this movie. I grew up LIVING AND BREATHING Superman.

I'm still trying to get used to the new actor playing superman, though.

Oh, and that Amber Heard photoshop floating around as Supergirl? Yeah. Make that shit happen LOL

Remember how I said hotly anticipated?

Seems like a lot of effort to discount any positive buzz.

There was tons of positive buzz around Avengers too and that turned out much better than anyone thought.

Don't see the point in being so dismissive of early screenings. It shouldn't make up your mind on the movie obviously but I don't see why initial screenings being positive is taken as "fake". MoS could have have piss poor initial impressions (right now) and still make tons of money. No one is going to remember what some initial buzz was back in Feb/March around the time movie is being released with the PR machine in full swing.

I hope not.

I'd lose my shit in the theaters and I have a rep to uphold.

Yeah same here. Don't know how it will work with Bale back or anything, but I would lose my shit if that happened and I saw a trailer or end of MoS scene like that.

Post-Credits: Bale and Cavill walk into a warehouse and look at each other, unzip and piss on a picture of Joss Whedon. I'd see it ten times in theatre and buy the tie in novel.

Potential spoiler, I guess. I mean, it's Superman and Zod on set waiting for the cameras to roll, but the set itself might be a potential give away.

Jesus he's huge.

Looks like he could break the planet in half

fixed.

you really should read it. the illustrations are good and professional unlike today's cross hatch experts that can't turn in a book on time. I mean, comic artist.

Credits end, open scene of cafe in Italy
A shot of a man drinking tea at his table. The camera set on his hand holding the cup, when the tea starts to ripple as you hear a whoosh and a landing.
Then looking down at the table you hear the sound of footsteps approaching it. A man walks into frame and puts a picture of Rachele Dawes on the table.
The camera pans up to reveal one Bruce Wayne as the tea drinker.
Change shot to close up of Superman as he says "Are you familiar with time travel, Mr. Wayne?"

I've honestly never understood the hate. I think it's a fantastic adaption (and in my opinion the ending in the film is better than the graphic novel). It's certainly one of the most interesting comic book movies we've gotten over the last ten years. It's beautifully shot, has great art & set direction, a lot of which is ripped straight from the book. Hell Snyder went out of his way (much like he did with 300) to frame many of the shots identically to how they were framed in the book.

I like this one...

....they don't even have to make a justice league movie. they can just leave it at that...

They can piss on a picture of Whedon while holding a lengthy conversation about how they didn't get the hype behind 'Firefly', but man that Summer Glau chick was hot.

I wanted to check out watchmen on a few occasions but dat run time... :(

I should just suck it up and watch it. Looks like a beautifully shot film and it will get me even more hyped for MoS.
