i mean they've backed the wagons up to this thing and dumped loads of the old western vibe on this show from scene 1, episode 1, season 1...
This is "basement dwelling nerd - the video".Would like everyone to know that absolutely shitty ass music wasn't in the show.
Terrible choice for a link.
Also anybody notice this has a very "old western" movie vibe this season?
I enjoyed it for the most part.
I agree with -Arcadia- - there's something off about certain parts of the choreography, especially when moving quickly. I didn't like the scene where Ashoka was meant to be Ubisofting the guys at the start. It reminded me of some of the worst parts of the Vampires in Val Helsing. Then I thought about Kate Beckinsale for a bit. Was a good time. I liked the one on one - this is where the epsiode shone the most for me in action, it was very deliberate and felt much more like the Obi Wan/Darth fight in style (though it was still quicker in tempo)
That name for the child has just destroyed most of its 'cute' factor. Though I suspect it was intentional as although he physically looks young, he obviously isn't. The beskar spear is fucking awesome. I still can't quite put a benchmark on Mando's skill. Some episodes he seems almost comic relief, the others he's gunslinging with a sixth sense for a no look headshot.
I didn't like the sets around the forest, they looked cheap and fake. Do we assume that Ashoka killed the killed magistrate as well? The best parts were the hats between Ashoka and Mando, the test and the duel for me.
I immediately thought that Yoda's species ages really slow. The Child is probably like 90.
It's pretty much live-action Clone Wars and Lucas & Filoni had lots of Western and Samurai movie influences in Clone Wars. There's a Clone Wars episode that is pretty much a Seven Samurai copy. Then they made a similar episode in Mandalorian Season 1

...They are going to use the Netflix/CW model aren't they.
They already teased kind of whats going to happen by the end of the season. They will go to this planet and Grogu will decide to stay with Mando instead of Yedi training. Obvious af. Also disney gear wont sell itself. needs more baby yoda scenes in s3I watched the episode a second time, and whilst not as good as the first watch it's still up there.
I hope they keep the current theme of Mando and Grogu going from planet to planet having adventures and don't go too much into Rebels / Clone Wars stuff. Give Ashoka her own show, as I'm in the camp preferring blasters to space wizards. I think what they're doing is just giving fans a glimpse of these other characters and what they're up to. Maybe Fett won't come back, it might be enough just to know that he's still out there.
The absolute worst thing they could do is have Grogu start to speak and turn this into Jedi training. I'm sure some fans want that but it would kill it for me. Maybe they've written themselves into a corner. Mando can't give up Grogu, they have to stay together or there is no show.
I've not watched anything with Ashoka, but she was pretty great. Rosario Dawson nailed it in terms of being an interestingly character.
Really good episode, the Master she was looking for is obviously a set up for a future storyline (or spin off?). We have Bo Katan looking for Moff Gideon, Mando's quest and this.
Place your bets, do you think we will seea recast Luke turn up?
1: I had serious doubts about a live-action actor portraying an animated character. Rosario Dawson was absolutely great, and now we have this kind of awesome portrayal of one character from teen, to young adult, to adult, to old, wise Jedi (I guess Star Wars specializes at that).
2: Did we just get a Samurai fight, at the same time as an old West shootout? Bless this show. I won’t pretend I’m a super-fan of such things, but I love the influences they have on this.
3: I love and have strong emotional feelings for a puppet. Even the possibility of him having to leave Mando, and the bond they share, gets me.
4: The ways scenes breathe in this series, and have a ton of emotional resonance, without a lot of dialogue, is brilliant. Going back to those previously mentioned influences.
5: I thought the fights were a little weak, which seems to be a long-time flaw of the show. Maybe it’s adjusting back to realistic lightsaber fighting, after watching prequels, but I’m not 100% sure.
6: The direction is absolutely gorgeous. From the dust sweeping through the town as the hero steps up to a confrontation, to the quiet, beautifully framed moments between... Grogu, Mando, and Ahsoka.
7: I’m concerned about how much I’m starting to love this show. It’s so hard to trust again. At some point I stopped watching this because I was bored, and it was halfway decent, but because I genuinely really, really like it. That feels dangerous.
8: If darker skintones adapt that well to orange, is it possible that Donald John Trump is secretly a black man?
I think they flat-out said it in Season 1. Like fifty or something.
I think we’re going to see a deep fake younger looking Luke like they did with Will Smith in Gemini Man (which I think was very convincing) ... or ...Mace Windu since you heard his voice project to Rey, meaning he had to learn from someone and that could only happen after he survived the fall.
I doubt Luke will show up on The Mandalorian. That seems like an event reserved for Ahsoka's own series, if it ever comes.
And I'd be sorely disappointed if they never meet. Luke I think would still want to know more about his father's history and what better way than to reminisce with the only living being in the galaxy who knew Anakin before he became Darth Vader? Ahsoka on the other hand would be intrigued at meeting Anakin's son. And here's where my lack of knowledge regarding Clone Wars rears it's head, so I have to ask. Did Ahsoka know that Anakin had children?
Didn’t realize they were planning on making her own live action series!? I knew of Obi-Wan (which I’m so stoked for), but Ahsoka too? I’m so in, and that does make sense.
It's only a rumor at this point, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. But I doubt they cast a star like Rosario Dawson in the role as a one-off. But there's rumblings that Dawson signed a multi-year contract with Lucasfilm. Again though, all just rumor and speculation.
Now I’m imagining Yoda banging Yaddle. Thx for finally ruining Star Wars for meThey said he was born around the same time Anakin was, so he has to be mid to late 50’s or early 60’s.
It’s possible he’s also offspring from Yoda and Yaddle. The Jedi Council did make exceptions for Jedi of species that were almost going extinct. They allowed Ki-Adi-Mundi to have multiple wives for example to keep the species from dying out.

Do we even have an idea what type of body Yoda even has under his robes? Was wondering that when watching grogu. Or are they just like pokemon where their born in robes.Maybe it’s all done through the force, wait... that may be even creepier.
I hope not, they need to stay the hell away from the toxic Sequel Trilogy, there is no fixing that abomination.there is only so long Mando can play the oldies and riff on Clone Wars stuff. it's ancient history. they are eventually going into the First Order and Snoke and all that stuff. the show is going to end up trying to fix the ST.
i think people are just dazed right now from the nostalgia overload. we all know where this is headed. Luke is a failure. no Jedi at all. Palpatine reboot. 1,000s of Star Destroyers. etc.

The magistrate of the town was bruce lees god daughter straight fire.
Stiff? She looks hot I don't care wtf she looks like.
That was the best anything Star Wars I've seen since the originals. And Rosario Dawson is simply a goddess. She looks hot I don't care wtf she looks like.
I think she looks better with age too. She looks fucking amazing in her 40's.If I were Anakin I would have had a tough time choosing between peak Portman and Peak Rosario.

Dammit, he looked familiar but I didn't realise it was him, or that he was so old now :/Rosario did well. Michael Biehn was a total waste. Cool ep overall.
The fight sequence at the end seemed implausible to me, you're telling me she can't just force push the lady into the water or something? Instead she even loses one of her lightsabers. Yeah cinematic tension and all that, but still. Also the immediate cut after asking about the general was too sudden I thought.

I think she was wanting to crush her without the force, she had been crushing up till that point, notice as soon as she lost one saber she stopped messing around. The fight sequence at the end seemed implausible to me, you're telling me she can't just force push the lady into the water or something? That’ll be explored in the Thrawn series after the Rosario Dawson series ends.I'm so intrigued by how Thrawn fits into all this. The new Thrawn novels depict him as an anti-hero who has a low opinion of the Emperor. He only feigns subservience because he believes the Empire is necessary to defend his own people from an external threat.
I can't see Thrawn being onboard with what are presumably Moff Gideon's plans to bring back the Emperor.
What if Thrawn and Gideon are pitted against each other? Thrawn is trying to gather the Imperial remnants under his own banner, Gideon is trying to continue the Emperor's legacy.
They could soft-retcon the sequels and have it so the New Republic is fighting against Thrawn's faction for the majority of the post-ROTJ era and the First Order, created by Gideon, are seen as just an extremist cult until the events of the sequel trilogy and are a side-threat compared to the true Imperial remnants under Thrawn.

Well funny thing about thatThis edit just makes me think of how much better the scene in Kill Bill is.
Not that I'm shitting on this one, I think the scene was fine, but putting the music there just invites an unfavorable comparison in my opinion.
Also, Ahsoka(?) doesn't seem very composed for a Jedi who was just talking about how baby Yoda has too many emotions.
Fair enough, I don't watch the cartoonsWell funny thing about that
She’s more like Qui Gon than anyone tbh, kinda old school Jedi likeFair enough, I don't watch the cartoons
