1. God yes
2. Mostly episodic comedy
3. Probably
4. Yes
That said, while the manga is great, I still think the anime is actually better. Anime is god tier. Just skip the first two episodes if you watch the anime, since those are an awful filler pilot episode

4. any since of story progression?

1. yes

2. why not?

3. probably, but soon could mean another 50-100 chapters

4. Most of the time, only a little. Most chapters are their own thing, with an arc not usually lasting more than 15 or so chapters. Lately, as in the last year or so has been pretty much all story sort of.

Also, I actually prefer the anime over the manga. Although it will take longer to get through. Either way, its worth watching/reading.

Tomo-chan

A new chapter of Tomo chan was translated and I read it

[repeat post every day]

haha, I know right. That part was especially interesting. That Carol is such a character.

I rarely post, and most of my post are about Tomo-chan nowadays. So I'm a goner now?

Detective Conan 958

So no more Black Org chapters again? Heiji chapters ain't that bad though.

hmmm anime it is then. but thank you guys for the fast responses.

If you are watching the anime, skip the first two episodes, they are filler and they are just there to introduce the characters and they are not that good. So start at chapter 3 and enjoy, the series is my favorite and its worth it, and it just keeps getting better.

new game 32

As someone learning programming, this seemed scene was familiar to me.

ninkoi 1 - 2

Well this is kind of ridiculous. Its also much lewder than I though it would be.

Tomo-chan 324

lol I wonder how long this is going to play out..... oh I don't mean us posting chapters that will go on and on and on and on and on and on....

3. is is going to end soon?

4. any since of story progression?

1. Definitely

2. Well there are a bunch of serious arcs and a bunch of comedic tales but the comedy chapters are a sense of

a) introducing some characters and foreshadowing some stuff that will be vital when things turn more serious from time to time

and

b) building up the characters and world so that you feel more heartbreak and connection when real struggles and bonds shatter

by balancing the two the series becomes more attaching to real life, relative to other shonens that mostly jump from fight to fight without no breaks while ranting about former bonds that you never saw develop besides in the battle field

3. yes it is going to end soon likely one more arc after this

4. Yes there is and nice world building

Basically watch the anime first and then continue on with the manga since it is a great adaptation and would be easier to marathon through

From a bunch of people who I told to read Gintama and now love it to death most of them were really negative about it before since they assumed it was just comedic

I do think it's fun to talk about daily Tomochan strips but it probably is overbearing for others in a general thread, maybe a new tomo thread would help?

New Game 32

Actually that looked pretty good. Surprised to see she's picking it up, hopefully the endgame is to have her join the programming team (if only for more Nene/Ahagon chapters)

Sekai Oni end

Huh, not sure how I feel about that ending. Like, I think I get what they were going for by specifically pointing out that Azuma hasn't grown, but at the same time I'm not sure. I feel the portrayal kind of makes her lack of development out to be a good thing, when it sort of implies she had been completely broken and stunted by her fucked up family. Getting some mixed messages there with it almost feeling like a "killing is wrong, oh wait I don't care." kind of thing.

Then there's the fact we don't actually see the climax, which I really have no idea if it was a symptom of the series being in danger of cancellation and thus rushed, or if it was intentional to make it clear the conflict didn't matter and only Azuma's feelings did, which is kind of weird considering we've been along for the ride of the conflict the whole time.

And that epilogue is almost too painfully real. The couple that got several intense moments and page spreads getting to that point has broken up off-panel, and the relationship between Azuma and her mother that was made a big deal of over the entire series has become strained. I like how it's subversive by not giving us that nonsensical Hollywood romance where all's well that ends well in terms of relationships and any trouble after the credits roll doesn't exist, but man does it put a damper on things.

But despite all that, this was a damn amazing series. While it could have been a 10/10 if I didn't feel so conflicted about the ending, a 9/10 ain't bad. Keeping an eye on this mangaka and will start his next work when it gets a bit further.

re-reading it and seeing the difference from the rushing we currently have? (felt the same way when I read some old volumes)

Yeah, everything up to Ice Hell arc is just perfect. Then the consequents arc get a bit slower but are still really good, especially in how he foreshadow a lot of things, melk knives and kuriboh pots are seen like in chapter 30. Blue nitros (B.B corn , blue blood or also nobles corn), the fact that they are on another level (it easily eat the ozone herb and it spit it because it's disgusting from his point of view, being used to gourmet's world ingredient). The name of the top chefs, Zaus and Setsuno.
Some of those arcs are really slow and give little progress, especially casino city arc and the shokurin temple arc, but have decent endings. After that it get seriously slow, up until the four beast arc, where things start to go downhill. Suddendly all the characters that have been hyped until there (Teppei first appearance was just amazing as well as the first fight against a sous-chef, Tommyrod) become irrilevant incredibly fast. And then the gourmet world, with some good moments, really go to shit, with tons of chars that you think they'd be amazing becoming fodders, some disappearing (Alfaro and Grinpatch had like a scene both then disappeared Wtf), and the main chars going from being a low tier to surpassing everyone in the span of 50 chapters when in the previous 250 chars he had a steady improvement that was really satisfying to see. And the worst thing? He skipped so many tiers without a single fight. So fucking bad.

Naruto and Bleach went to shit but were never that good to begin with, especially with their whiny self-insert mains, instead of an adult dude that act so (how many chars you see that smoke and drink? altough he stopped after a while) and is knowledgeable about the world (he knowing lots of top tiers and komatsu getting all excited about it). Toriko went from one of the smartest fighters in the manga (fight vs Grinparch was awesome , but in general he always outsmart his foes), to an idiot who challenge much stronger foes and get curbstomped thinking he could do something against them. We went from arcs where everyone had relevance and fights (regal mammoth, ice hell, bb corn arc where even dogs got relevant fights) to arcs where fights are basically inexistent, everything is a stomp of two pages to two chapters most and there's no tension or excitement anymore. What's worse is that everyone act cocky before getting curbstomped, it's like perception of power suddendly disappear (when everyone from the start had the ability to evaluate power levels, see toriko when he see Star GT robo the first time, or Teppei when he sense Alfaro and Setsuno etc...)

Otoyomegatari 2

I don't give a shit about children, by and large. That said, this was the best writing of a child i've seen in years. The way the boy ditches his chores, stares in amazement at the simplest things at the carpenter's shop, and resorts to imagination, instead of words, because of course he would, he's a young freaking child, was utterly perfect. How the carpenter has to teach him what each thing is, how they connect to each other, all with the smallest amount of words possible... heck, the whole bit when he skips on his chores the second time, or how he tries to feel what the birds will feel with a bed improvised outta wood splinters...

Took me back about 25 years, tbh.

this is truly excellent.

that it is also ridiculously gorgeous certainly helps.

There's a Demon Lord on the Floor 11-13

RIP having an animal mascot
But now we have a cute ghost girl

Argh just gimme my fat titty mushroom transformation. If a chapter doesn't have mushroom tits it shouldn't have been written.

Something Something Bitch Desu 4

Okay, the "Onii-chama! Kweel before mwee~" got me. This manga is so dumb, I love it.

This is dumb, but i like it. The new character spice thing up a bit which is a welcome addition.

If that is bad, i think my art can only be described as 'things that should be in the recycle bin''

Tomo chan wa onna no ko latest

Now, this is some complex situation

first, let us learn the history of sport bra.

The first thing to know about sports and breasts is this: women have always participated in athletics, bra or no bra. In ancient Rome, women bound their breasts with cloth and leather. Pottery and mosaics from the fourth and fifth centuries show female athletes wearing bikini-like uniforms. (Eveleth, 2015)

In the Victorian era, women turned to corsets to keep their breasts from moving too much. Those competing at Wimbledon in 1887 returned to their dressing rooms in between matches to "unhitch their bloody corsets," having been "repeatedly stabbed by the metal and whale bone stays of the cumbersome garments" as they played.

By 1911, women got a "sports corset" with flexible material, and thanks to the 1914 tango craze, someone even invented a dancing corset. But it wasn't until the 1920s that bras started to replace corsets in the United States, and while brassieres designed for athletic purposes were patented as early as 1906, they simply never caught on.

Finally, in 1977 — the same year Victoria's Secret was founded — the sports bra as we know it was invented by Lisa Lindahl and Polly Smith, with the help of designer and runner Hinda Miller. That first sports bra was simply two jockstraps sewn together. It wasn't just that jockstraps were the right size, they were also the right idea. "We said, what we really need to do is what men have been doing: pull everything close to the body," Miller later told researchers. They called this new bra the Jockbra, but quickly changed it to Jogbra after store owners in South Carolina deemed the name offensive.

Some experts in female adolescent obesity and fitness suggested that young girls would be more comfortable in single-sex gym classes. But others said that option had its disadvantages, too.

according to Kimberly Burdette, a doctoral candidate in psychology at Loyola University Chicago who looks at the psychological factors that promote well-being and healthy weight in girls, says such separation might be helpful at a time when adolescent girls had a heightened awareness that others were looking at their bodies.

“It’s hard to be in the zone, focusing on athletic movement, on what your body can do, if you’re thinking about what others think your body looks like,” she said. “I like programming that is for girls only, where a girl can try a sport, regardless of her ability, without the male gaze.”

But Elizabeth A. Daniels, an assistant professor of developmental psychology at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, disagreed. “I’m not sure the concern or embarrassment is always just about boys,” she said, noting that girls can make derisive comments about one another. “So do we change the structure of the gym class or address respectful behavior?” (Hoffman, 2016)

Conclusion

Both Aikawa and Jun need to be respectful around Tomo despite her wearing a sport bra.

That is a top class post i expect in a thread dedicated to tomo-chan, i don't know if that would even be a good solution to your problem Grimace, don't let this spil outside the confines of this thread.

sports bra puppies? is that the proper term?

EDIT:

a lot of the manga i follow updates once a week/month. the fact we have something that is updated daily doesn't stop the fact that it still falls within the aspect of this thread. i discuss whatever comes up as it becomes available and unless we come to a consensus on what is acceptable rates of discussion on specific works, some ppl gonna have to hold that L.

unless you want to FT5 me on street fighter 5 vs my necalli/Bipson.

honestly the big food tournament was when things started to get fast paced

I've been reading Sakura Tsuushin and probably marathoned a bit too much of it. It gets far far darker than I expected. U-jin is generally a light and happy author. Not so much here.

I am Kagome 1
Have fun explaining that when your family sees your school photo album.

Horror-lite series about the wanderings of a cute guardian spirit. I'm assuming it'll be episodic and follow her as she sticks her dainty nose into various people's misfortunes. Well, she's a stylish dresser and quasi-willing to let a school bus fall off a cliff, so she's got my attention.

i'm rereading horimiya and you know, i enjoy it a lot, but I'd love to see what a top class (or even just a pretty decent) anime studio could do with it.
