I'm liking this fight but I'm still sorta confused why this dude is WAY fucking stronger than the Light guy they fought. I thought he was the leader. Whatever.
Unlike a lot of people I'm still enjoying this series. It moves at a blistering pace so if I don't like an arc or storyline it's over in like a week. The characters are still one note but with the way the story moves along I don't really care. The fights are fun...I mean it does what I want it to do.

Both of them were selected for the spring election qualifiers. Hell, Tadokoro made it into the main tournament.They're hardly nameless expulsion fodder and at least a step above those two polar Star guys who are always together and don't even add up to a single complete character.

I've been convinced that whatever is in the basement,
it's going to fuck up Erwin. I think Isayama has been laying the pieces for Erwin to be some sort of villain or to become a third party. Though he had the sense to prioritize humanity's victory over his own desire to see the basement, if he's revived here then I believe he'll also go to the basement and whatever is there will consume him. I'm not sure what that would look like, but I imagine the truth will matter more to him than humanity's survival. The panel below we got way back when convinced me Erwin will, in the end, only care about the truth of the world.

I really like how well placed and deeply planned out this story is. Normally by this point you start getting the feeling the author is winging it if not much sooner and that he may have the overall details planned out the finer details noticeably become less tight, because this a weekly manga and it'd fairly difficult to do that. Here you get plenty of subtle hints and character arcs and combine very commonly and build into larger climaxes as the story goes on that you really get the feel the manga's actually been thoroughly planned. After pretty much 91 chapters ar finally getting confirmation that his mother is dead, though implied earlier and the reason for news reporters slight obsession after being introduced early on in the story. It's a shame it isn't more popular because it's clear the author has put a lot of thought and effort planning and executing this.

Of course Erwin will still probably survive somehow because Isayama seems unable to pull the trigger when it really matters.
Oh, and Reiner is more than just the Armored Titan now, he's the Plot Armored Titan. Fuck that.
