Just finished the first volume of eyeshield 21 and damn! That Murata artstyle is sooooo delicious. Add to that the great characters like Sena and Hiruma AND the very funny comedy, I think I found series I really like.

Like how Kubo just drew Isshin.

I love how Kubo drew Isshin and Oda drew Akainu with a unibrow

Really like Komi's, Kishimoto's, Matsu's and Nakama's.

Kishimoto is sure getting more and more in the mood for his sci-fi manga, huh? This is the third tribute in a row he drew with a very heavy futuristic bent.

40 years ... and it will probably go on for another 10 years still. Man, that's a lot of time to commit to anything.

Like how Kubo just drew Isshin.

Kubo is being consentient, for once lol. He's always drawn Ryo as Isshin

Good to know he just never bothered to hide it.

Helck ch. 75.2

This really does feel like it's heading towards the endgame. Well, it's been talking about that for a few chapters now, but here we see an actual game plan set up by Azudora.

Would like to see a bit more of this old war in a future chapter.

I know I already updated on a later chapter but I wanted to point this one chapter out in particular.

There are a lot of thought provoking segments so far but this chapter was also very moving. Yuichi's sense of guilt being returned with kindness is creating an unbearable demand for an outlet to liberate himself of the guilt. Unfortunately, he like many others in a similar predicament consciously or subconsciously resort to self-abuse of some sort. It gave this amazing perspective on how it is like being such a person and how one can improve without resorting to self-abuse. It takes time to get there but that's alright, important thing is that the kindness is returned. Punishment makes sense but to truly change, you need to know the pain of being forgiven.

I might've sounded preachy towards the end but that's probably the most stand out moment in the manga for me so far.

with the pace of the breaker i knew new waves would basically bring nothing new to the table

fucking lmao. waste of time

edit: and now they're basically working on the same genre but on a different universe. LMAO

actually yeah im fucking livid

New Waves was all build up with no pay off, complete waste of time that keeps throwing cliffhangers at you without going through any of them. Hell, they don't even know how to not fucking finish a chapter so abruptly you feel like they forgot a page.

The whole "if we try to finish this manga its gonna take like 20 years because we have no idea how to pace a plot so we're gonna do something else for a while" shitshow was the final straw and I'm not reading the followup even if it actually happens.

Tomo's got a rival.

Helck 75.2

On one hand this feels like endgame, on the other there is lots of stuff left for another 100 chapters.
I hope for the letter, Helck is really good.

Yona of the Dawn -126

I wish the translation for this was better thankfully its getting an official release now in volume form. This is one of my favorite ongoing manga and normally I can't stand romance series but the action and characters are really compelling the sei arc that just concluded was fantastic.

There'll come a point where it feels like it's over, but the manga will keep going. At that point, I suggest you skip to the final chapter and call it a day.
I want to deny this but it's sadly the truth. Quality took a massive nosedive afterwards what felt like all our passion for the characters and minor arcs ended. It's still a 10/10 series and my favorite sports manga (yes, I've read Slam Dunk).
Edit: Sena's first run spread hasn't been topped by anything ever yet. Murata's art was just beautiful.
Is Cross Manage any good?
Uh, it's average. You'll enjoy reading it if you treat it as something light and fluffy. Honestly doesn't highlight the good/bad points of lacrosse in contrast to other sports but it's a fun time waster.

My Hero Academia 5 at #1 and Haikyu being twice on that list makes me happy. Still hoping Black Clover will eventually chart.

Still I am surprised MHA beat both AoT and One Piece, they were all released the same day no?

Murata's Spider-Man artwork are things of beauty. Marvel should just throw all the money at him for a monthly Spidey comic.I'd buy the hell out of it.

I'm talking:

* one copy to read
* one copy to look at
* one copy to recommend to friends/family/anyone who'll listen
* one copy to place in a vacuum-sealed time capsule so future generations can enjoy.

You and me! I want all of this guy artworks on my walls! He is incredibly talented.
Yep all 3 of those launched on the 2nd.
Then it is super good news for My Hero Academia in term of popularity.

Pretty decent read. I really admire the visual athletic and character designs, which just exude wackiness but yet don't disrupt the neo-noir feeling too much. My biggest grib though, is I find some of the more kinetic panels to be way too busy and the dialogue, especially in the first few chapters, is just... so generic and tedious. One thing the writing does do really well, at least so far, is use multiple plot and world devices (literal devices) to question the nature of consent, control, and trust in a really interesting way.

My Hero Academia beating out Attack on Titan is pretty big.

Still think the biggest surprise of the year was Orange selling as well as it has. Like I expected an anime bump, but both volumes charting like last week now was stronger than I expected
