It was good but the last arc and ultimately the ending - oh god the ending - killed it good. All the build up, all the investment for that, never again.

Yeah, all in all I think it's still decent (to me, a bad ending doesn't totally negate what good there was up to that point), but without the increasingly forced "fanservice" and with a good ending it could have really been one of the best in its genre.

THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls - U149 1

RIP. What I thought was chp 1 was actually 0.5, but the same comments are still applicable. Not sure if this'll have clear main characters like the other divisions, but Arisu seems to be taking a prominent role so far, which is a positive as far as I'm concerned. The last page suggests there're more idols to be added to the mix, so my hopes of seeing anyone from the 142 unit haven't been extinguished yet.

Mai Ball 76

I think Mai will awaken something.
Would be hilarious if she had a cheating, sadistic side just waiting to be released.

So, I decided to browse through Wikipedia's list of longest manga, which I've done before (largely because I've got something of a fondness for series with a real meaty run to them), but decided to dig a little deeper this time around, and took a basic glance at the covers/descriptions for the various series I wasn't familiar with in some form. And for the most part it was a lot of gag stuff, baseball manga, cooking series, etc, but a few did slightly catch my eye to at least ask about them. So is anyone familiar with the following series to say whether or not they're good or bad, as I largely just know they exist and little else (also I wouldn't be surprised to find that at least one of these is popular/well known and I'm just out of the loop, as I often am):

Afro Tanaka
Usogui
Zipang
Rokudenashi Blues
Giant Killing

Giant Killing is great. If you like soccer you're gonna love it. If you don't like soccer you're still gonna love it because the characters are pretty great.

Thanks, definitely adding it to the "to look into list," then!
lol More than half of those are manga about gangs

That was actually one of the big recurring themes that popped up again and again on that list (which IIRC was all manga that breached the 40 volume point), so I guess they do pretty well in general. That said, I totally have found over the years that I have a real weakness for characters that can be described as "chinpira"...

Usogui has an interesting beginning and premise, basically what I wish Gambler Fish was without the harem. It slowly peters out towards ch.100 though it's still enjoyable, just more pretentious (no idea why)

If you like or are interested in club soccer or fan expectation and it's response and effect then Giant Killing is for you. Great underdog series.

I like Rokudenshi blues. It's like if Mr.Rogers had a black belt and was hell bent on re-educating delinquents with the magical sport of baseball. Very short lived though and you don't really come out the team formation/training arc

Any good high school delinquents manga I haven't read? Shonan Junai Gumi, Crows/Worst, Rokudenaishi Blues, Bakuon Retou, Sakigake/Cromatie are the ones I know.

Started reading Wolfsmund. It's so bizarre to read a manga set in Switzerland, as a swiss myself.

Yo, yo, yo, hold up. You haven't picked up Kyou Kara Ore Wa and you like delinquent manga? Full stop, get past the first few chapters and you'll find one of the best in its genre, whether in action or comedy. It's comparable to Crows/Worst for me, that's how good it is. Get on that ASAP.

Also, Angel dentetsu, you know it. I'm going to say something unpopular here though. Hareluya boy II flies in the name of every good Delinquent manga, it's basically just an action manga. Kinda shit, kinda addicting anyway. I don't personally recommend it though you will have fun reading. Same with Clover.

Seconding Kyou Kara Ore Wa

Zipang is good, but good luck getting it complete outside of Japan. You can at least watch the anime.

Kantai Collection - FIEND (doujin)
If you gaze for long into an Abyssal, the Abyssal also gazes into you. Unless you sink her. Super serious PTSD KanColle stories need to be handled veeery carefully to be effective, and this was a little too juvenile in its darkness to pull it off. Still more entertaining than 93.6% of the comedic rubbish though.

The only interest I have in Kantai is the Abyssals, either in porn form or otherwise.

I legit think the Abyssals have some amazing designs but every single other thing surrounding Kantai I have negative 0 interest in.

I have liked, favourited and subscribed to your newsletter. There's an occasional decent design scattered amongst the regular ships, but aside from that the Abyssals are the only selling point.

BLack Clover gets a tv anime in 2017 by Pierrot. I hope they treat it like Naruto. I need hundreds of episodes.

I wonder if someone will ever give Hinomaru Zumou an anime, sad it keeps getting passed over by newer series.

Studio Pierrot? Yuck

Here is hoping they fully animate the series unlike Bleach. Don't care how bad it go nothing upsets me more then manga that don't get full anime adaptations.

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
I mean Black Clover isn't really bad as much as it is painfully mediocre and generic

Pretty much this.
Plus the recent chapters with "Oh these new characters? Well they had a big role in the Black Clover novel. You didn't read it? Fuck you then we're not going to tell you anything"

Yeah that was fucking stupid. Though I imagine an anime adaption would cover the light novel stuff, especially one done by a studio like Pierrot

I'll cross-post from the other thread.

As generic and easily predictable BC is, it's great fun! likeable characters and great battles.

If studio Pierrot does things right, backed by an awesome OST, Black clover is perfect for an anime.

I feel like I'm the only not dtl member who really likes Black Clover :X

Fuck the novel characters though
I like it a bunch.

I read it.

I mean, I certainly don't dislike it as much as other people here but I'd certainly agree it's pretty mediocre and the characters are boring as fuck. Sometimes though you just read something with fun action and dumb powers and that's all you need. I think it's serviced well by the pacing which is as breakneck as MHA; if you don't like something or think a fight is dragging on too long then it'll probably be over in another chapter.

The fight between them and the Beast Magic dude was actually pretty baller for one.

That said, we're looking at a notoriously shit studio handling an adaptation of something mediocre.

None of us are confused as to how this will turn out.

TSF Monogatari 4.0 physical for patrons yeah!

Since you guys are talking about Black Clover and since I've read the first volume 2 days ago, let me cast my vote for the generic brigade. The first volume didn't leave a bad impression but it's pretty average nonetheless. It's even more of a haves and havesnot, kinda like Naruto, to bring up a comparison Oni loves, though the two guys aren't trying to kill each other... yet. The sexual tension is all there though.

Baito Saki wa "Aku no Soshiki"?! 25 - 27

Finally caught up on this. Nice ending for now until more chapters come out. Both Arihisa and Skyhawk are doing alright.

Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Christ Bokura no Hentai is in the same mag as MonMusu.

How absolutely bizarre.

EDIT: Whew, just finished. This is everything Wandering Son could've been but wasn't. I think it's dethroned Wandering Son as my favorite manga, but that might be recency bias.
