Fuuka

HOLY FUCK SEO THE GOD

Fuuka Aoi's dad was the driver of the truck that killed Fuuka Akitsuki

crying-laughter-lmao.gif

I read this and was just like "...".

UQ Holder

I'm starting to check out on this, he's going way more ham than he ever did in Negima with the fanservice and I'm just not about it. It's almost Fairy Tail at this point.

Yamada and the Seven Witches

So basically Nene is going to be the girl he was with originally. There's no way it's anyone else.

I don't post in here as much as I should, but WTF is this. Only the man who made "A Town Where You Live" can come with some bullshit like this.
There is no way you can have a MC fall in love with a girl, that responsible for killing you last GF.

Helck

I still remember the first time this series caught my interest when a friend of mine posted a picture of Witch-sama while I'm already enchanted by witches. So off I go, and I was greeted by a seemingly gag manga where it clearly took elements and aesthetic of old RPG such as Dragon Quest. Hero born every once in a while. The said hero defeat a demon king! Now a tournament being held to search for replacement. Almost every characters were introduced with class and level. Great, almost everything I hate from RPG manga are there. So I put it down and never look at it even though I keep the browser tab open just in case.

Then some few days ago another friends yet again recommend Helck. It's good he said. I looked at the chapter list and saw Witch-sama being the title for chapter 22. So then I give the series another try just for the sake of Witch-sama.

Same as before, it wasn't that much different at the beginning. Gag and comedy being thrown around here and there. Levels being used so nonchalantly as if this is truly a game. But behind all of those comic relief, Nanao Nanaki are already preparing for what will to come. First it was Helck saying that he, a human, hates human and wish to eradicate them. We as a reader who reads the story through the eye of Vamirio, of course just wouldn't be so easy to accept it. All of his being nice and perfection just become more of a reason that he somewhat fake it for his own purpose.

Then we've got Asuta chapters where she infiltrated the human domain, only to found it devoid of all life. We seen Nanao Nanaki reveals the past of her titular character bit by bit. As those mysteries brought up and answered, the series revealed itself into something that I doubt anyone who read it for the first time would never expect. What was first revealed as gag and comedy, now it is story that also filled with drama and tragedy.

If you had notice, I never dubbed the comedy part or the gag start of the manga as facade or false mask. Genre shift actually never happened. It is a deliberate attempt by Nanao Nanaki to run both comedy and drama in parallel for the purpose of the greater theme that she used in Helck. It works because her masterful execution of both, switching back and forth from comedy to drama where one doesn't feel intrude the purpose of others.

If the quality keep consistent until the end, Helck will become my most favorite manga, on all aspect but maybe general art style. There are so many things than I write about it but I just keep distracted by the emotion that still lingers in me after reading it just yesterday.

I must say that I hate Helck.

I hate how it put me into a well done emotional roller coaster like this. Her build up wasn't anything special. It was her execution on the moment of event that makes all the emotion she wants to show to her reader more impactful.

I wish I read it after the series completely finished and put to an end, so I just have to embark the emotional roller coaster on one ride.

I dont even read Fuuka but thats hilarious.

The Ancient Magus Bride Vol 3

Another great volume. The conflict of the previous volume is resolved but it reveals a darker side of Elias. This leads to further develop the relationship between Elias and Chise, as the first tries to hide it form her and the second hesitates to whether or not pry further in this matter.

As always the use of magic, folk tales and myths is really interesting as it introduces into the story creatures such as the Will o Wisp, Church Grim, Leannan Sidhe and Selkie. All of this elevated by the great art.

Next volume will be interesting as it deals with Elias past.

Reading the Fuuka spoiler is something hard to be topped this week in terms of entertainment value. Laugh hard at that and the reactions.

So Fuuka is depressed because she pushed her father into doing his job which led to him killing Fuuka?

The only thing I'm surprised here is thar Fuuka wasn't the one driving the bus, or at least riding it.

Both Crunchyroll and the animators messed up the latest Tanaka episode.
Though I can forgive the latter, since it technically could be what Tanaka and Ohta were imagining, but Crunchyroll should've stuck with gender neutral.

Shoujo Apocalypse Adventure 1 - 9

I guess this is cute girls doing things apocalypse edition. Although I have to wonder where did all the people go? Even in such a post apocalypse situation, I'd expect there to be somewhat of a society left. Kind of like in The Arms Dealer manga.

Tomo 308

Being scary is the most important trait of a teacher.
