So I got some manga in...yes, that's right I'm collecting manga more frequently now...

Mobile Suit Gundam - The Origin Vol 1 - I've never been a huge Mobile Suit Gundam fan, but this peeked my interest because of the awesome art and classy design of each volumes. This is the first one I've cracked open and I have not been disappointed, awesome book so far.

Rurouni Kenshin Vol 4, 5 - It's been a long time since I've watched this series, I never really watched OR read it in full. also getting a ton of volumes form a killer deal on Ebay, which should total my collection up to a full collection, so in the future I will be posting impressions on this series.

Attack on Titan Vol 1, 2 - I've read these a long ass time ago (matter of fact posted impressions here on GAF or them once), but I've honestly forgotten about it and reading the official translation should edge some things out for me.

Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer 1-3

I saw that this is getting a physical release in the US (and eventually UK/EU) so I wanted to give it a read, and if I like it I'll pick it up.

So far I'm really enjoying it. I like the characters (princess is awesome) and the humour. The premise is absurd, but I like that and the name is super dumb which I love.

So far so good.

Mobile Suit Gundam - The Origin Volume 1

This was overall a good read and satisfying purchase. The entire package you get here feels great and I'm proud to have it stand tall in my collection of manga. Though keep in mind my impressions of it is from a person who's seen very little of Gundam in general.

The plotting - and by that I mean how the panels are sequenced - is brilliant, though if it copies the show I would assume that the panels would flow very naturally. The art is top notch, and the setting is pretty fleshed out

My only problem is that while the setting is very grounded in realistic concepts, there are moments that make me go "What the fuck?" For example how Amuro is able to "sense" Char before he even makes his attack, how apparently being stunned by how pretty someone is affects a female's resolve to shoot someone (very sexist imo), and just other little things like that. I also don't understand how Amuro, a kid who has no combat experience or training, can take down so many well-trained soldiers or I assume are well-trained cause they're older men. The book even calls BS on this when the captain has his ship detained, but it doesn't do much with it as they continue to use Amuro for the Gundam seat without notice.

With that being said the closing moments of the volume with everyone looking at Earth was rather nice. It's good to get a break from the chaos of war and this moment reflected that at the perfect time. Good feel-good moment to end the volume on, only to give us a twist and introduce a new character at the end.

I give it a solid B+. The presentation of the package is gorgeous, but the story could be better.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Vento Aureo Vol 60

That 6 page Muda. So glorious. And I liked the use of Green Day for the unexpected attack. Gold Experience is super super OP, as always..

I want to read this, but I have zero idea how many volumes there actually are (the ones released are fairly expensive) and when they will all come out.
I paid 20 bucks for it, and for what you get, hardcover, color pages, bonus essays, the whole package it's worth it. I'll be proud to have it on my shelf once I get more volumes of it.

Rurouni Kenshin Vol. 1-3

I'll give a recap of these cause I re-read these a couple of days ago. I've had these volumes FOREVER in storage ever since I was a young kid. Got them when I was 14 I believe. Time sure flies by. Anyway...

It's alright start to the series, there's nothing really to say other than that. Kaoru is annoying as hell though. Stop being so fucking clingy and needy dammit, he isn't even your boyfriend. Solid C start.

Rurouni Kenshin Vol. 4

They went ham on the action sequences in this volume, which made it an easy read. The Aoshi arc was pretty touching and I'm genuinely curious where he's going to go now.

Maybe I'm too much of a realistic but I kind of agree with Sano on this. I get that Kenshin is supposed to always do the right thing aka forgive and forget, but getting mixed up in the business of drug dealers? No thanks. Kenshin sure does a lot for someone he barely knows.

Solid B for this volume. It was overall a pretty good volume and got me interested in reading more of this series.

What a way to deliver what I want (dates with Shouko) in a way I didn't want (the whole blown up friendship situation).

At least lil' sis is continuing to be the best:

Boys on the Run (caught up on translations)

man

maaaaaaaaaaan

this is painful

it's really good and all but it's a struggle to get through some parts

Chiharu is the worst

While some blame lies with Chiharu, Takahashi is ultimately the one who can't control himself. It's a parallel of what happens at the phone club in the first few chapters. He needs to man up and take control of his life.
