Destroy and Revolution volume 1
I thought I had already seen the worst this author had to offer with Holyland. I couldn't be more wrong.
This manga is ugly, inside and outside. The character's faces never look right nor do they look consistent between a page and the next. If that wasn't enough, many times they look like some kind of mix between a goblin and a troll, especially the dude with long hair, as he reminded me of Gollum more than once.
I can get past shit drawings if the story is worthwhile or I find it interesting enough. I did it for Holyland, even if that manga ended disappointing me with its closure and certain choices made, but here I didn't really find anything worthwhile. A dude has a power that lets him remove matter from objects by focusing and closing his hand and he gained it thanks to an old man that showed him some illuminating truth. Plus the kid hates the world, but thinks killing is wrong, so he only helps his friend, who wants to become a terrorist to wake up Japan, on the ground that they don't kill people. I think this is both dumb and offensive, personally.
I can enjoy works that have a bad outlook on humanity and are badly drawn, as I love Narutaru (to me it is a masterpiece) and Elfen Lied (another manga with some shitty drawings) for example, but they have to offer me something, some interesting protagonist like Shiina Tamai, or a psychotic killer like in Elfen Lied or like Light in Death Note. The characters here aren't interesting, aren't charming, they're just ugly, inside and outside. They don't make me want to know about them, they don't make me want to know about their world.
I'm gonna give the second volume a chance and see if the story manages to actually become interesting for me, otherwise it's gonna be a drop.
