While I never really feared for the character ( and really don't like this arc since those 2 brothers were such bad characters ), I find you quite forgiving about what happened 7 years ago. I mean look at her face when she is fleeing

Before this chapter, the elder brother was shaping up to a hooligan who rules by violence and is apathetic to others. It's not as much as I am 'forgiving' to what had happened to the maiden, it's more of me expecting his characterization to cross the rape-and-murder line which was heavily suggested. That would make this clash between Rin, Fushimi and the two brothers intensifying. I just can't help but to feel disappointed with the lame sword duel as well as the revelation of the events seven years ago. There were already very little tension right from the start, these turnabouts diminish it more.

I don't find the brothers to be bad characters though but more depth would be welcome than your run-of-the-mill delinquent.

Instead most troubles stem from the MC being really unlucky, and how it shapes him, rather than some guy actively "stealing" his girlfriend and him killing himself as a result or something.
