no friend invites is a huge mistake I feel.
each invite should come with 3 codes or, if they want to avoid superfluous codes being handed around, some in-game feature to invite anyone on your friends list to play.
They probably want to limit it to people who are the most interested so they can get the feedback from core players and dialogue from core players who are more interested in the game succeeding than people who might play it for 30 minutes and trash it.
I'm sure they'll be another alpha before the beta and release, but I also think the beta will be limited to pre-orders.
A game like Marathon which is 3 player teams working together to do an objective and escape would be better suited to allowing friend invites so a gamer who is serious about team based shooters can send it to friends who are too. They probably want to limit it to people who are the most interested so they can get the feedback from core players and dialogue from core players who are more interested in the game succeeding than people who might play it for 30 minutes and trash it.

sure, but I feel like playing with friends is a very core part of a game like this, especially with their trio squad focus.
and I think chances are that if a person has friends to play it with, those are friends that usually play similar games together.
like I have 2 people I play Apex Legends with regularly, and if I got an invite I bet both of them would be interested in the game as well. it's not a BR, but it's an adjacent FPS subgenre genre.

I dont get a sense someone getting a Marathon code with invites would send it to a buddy who only cares playing COD TDM run and gun style.
But now, they might play with randoms who they dont know or dont want to talk to. So it'll be a lousy experience being in a team of 3. At least for other shooters with bigger teams playing common modes like TDM, people can go lone wolf not caring as there's so many other teammates who can carry the load. In fact, in standard modes like TDM a really good lone wolf player can dominate.
Can you at least chat with teammates?I don't see the issue with this. Bungie have the right to share codes. Perhaps this is a way to show the gamers what it feels to play a game without proximity chat because gamers are not likely want to chat with total strangers.
Of course. Can you at least chat with teammates?
Not unless you actually applied to your ex for an STD.Getting an invite for this game is like your ex calling you that you might have an std

We can all understand and speak English here in Europe, but I bet it's due to server infrastructure and such.
- Can you guarantee a large enough player pool in less demanding locations to satisfy both network stress tests and player engagement through the day?
- Localization for other countries probably isn't ready yet
- They probably aren't ready to receive community feedback in other languages at this time
- Most of the marketing/strategy is going to be targeting North America in generating discourse online
It's not very different from games that launch exclusively in Japan, Korea, or China. At least this game will be launching everywhere.
