first up, Nick, 53 years old at the time. looking sharp. absolute LEGEND. 4 times AWA champion, multiple times NWA champion in many territories. smooth talker, showing respect and admiration for the japanese fans.
second up, the late british legend, Billy Robinson (1938-2014). 54 at the time. won titles all over the world and his catch wrestling training is still the standard to this day. another great respectful promo, putting over the promotion.
this is being sold as Special Exhibition Match with a 10 minute time limit. crowd is excited for this and so am i. bell rings. both men circle the ring. collar-and-elbow tie up leads to the first ref break. another collar-and-elbow tie up with Nick sending Billy into the ropes. chop combo by Billy, ending with a kick to the gut. Nick has the best screams of pain in the business.
Billy goes for the butterfly suplex but Nick escapes. hard slaps by both men. Billy goes for a hip toss but Nick reverses into an arm lock. Billy is fighting back, trying to escape the hold but Nick overpowers him. Billy finally squeezes out and gopes for the butterfly suplex again but Nick reaches the ropes and the ref breaks the action. another collar-and-elbow, this time Nick gets the side headlock, squeezing hard. Billy works up a counter and pulls out a lovely backbreaker.
Billy is back on the attack. big punch to the gut of Nick but Nick locks in another side headlock. Billy escapes and puts Nick on a hammerlock which Nick counters with a rather stiff knee which leads to Billy getting heated as fuck. audio is not great but it went something like this:
Billy: "you son of a fuckin bitch..."
Nick: "just a knee, Robinson"
Billy: "...right, you gonna get one on the fuckin chin"
back body clinch by Billy, who shoves Nick as he gets out. they're still heated but cooler heads prevail and the match continues as planned. full nelson by Billy. Nick escapes but ends up on the full Nelson again. snapmare by Billy. Nick goes for a keylock takedown but they both end up on the ropes. ref break the hold and the action resumes standing. drop toe hold takedown by Billy, now works on an ankle lock but Nick gets to the ropes. both guys are standing again. Billy tries to secure an abdominal scretch but Nick rolls out and ends on top. now Nick got Billy's back. Billy reaches the ropes and the ref stands them up. sideheadlock takedown by Billy, tries to lock in an armbar. Billy counters with a headscissors choke. they stand up and Nick locks in a front headlock. they touch the ropes and we get the announcement that there's only 30 seconds in the match. both men go ham right now, trading hard blows.
10 seconds left. they tie up. Billy gets the upper hand and finally scores the butterfly suplex he was looking for as the bell rings. the result is a time limit draw.
Lou Thesz joins both men, clearly happy with what he saw. so was i. hard hitting, old school match. both these guys could still go for another 10 minutes, easy. Billy getting pissed only happened for a minute or so, then he cooled off. good send off for both men who would never lace their boots again.

Got DDP Yoga in the mail today and did the opening breathing and Diamond Dozen intros. It's going to take me a while to fully understand what my body's supposed to be doing with some of these positions, but I'm focused on overall fitness, so I'm excited to keep it going and to improve over time.
