And they better no be confusing this with 8 player wifi play. If so... Bang! Zoom! Straight the MOON!

Nah I'm just kidding he would probably cry, while me and you are playing Phantom Dust via WiFi!!!!!!!!!!

My DS is all about Nintendogs!
I'm naming my first dog DRINKY and I want to beat the hell out of it.
My second dog will be named OLIMARIO and I will starve that bitch whenever I see an anti Nintendo post
Nintendogs is AWESOME - AWESOME is NINTENDOGS!

Oh and Amir0x is awesome, thanks man.
I'm assuming that it is indeed in the new EGM and that the thread starter isn't lying, but unfortunately I don't have a copy in front of me, so.TekunoRobby said:Chris are you serious? Is this real?

If they go the RR: DS control route, RETARDED.

You don't need a lot of creativity to imagine that this and/or some other anticipated DS game might go the way of Animal Crossing.
especially considering how hush hush they've been about mario kart every time they've show it. only the one level demo, no mention of any details, and always "more at e3, and when it launches later this year". at this point there's really no reason to think it won't be online. especially if animal crossing is going to be. even if the game comes out before the "architecture" is in place, they could still have the online coded into the game in preparation. but hopefully they won't even need to do that.Kobun Heat said:I'm assuming that it is indeed in the new EGM and that the thread starter isn't lying, but unfortunately I don't have a copy in front of me, so.

is this an issue to worry about?
TekunoRobby said:Amir0x speaks the truth, the man does indeed have the information in question and it looks legit.
Hopefully this is true because I'd fucking love to play Mario Kart Online (seriously not having this would be stupid).

first off, if last weeks mag scan news was true, Gamespy is supplying the netcode/backend to the DS online play, so there shouldn't be any worries about it being implemented poorly. And it's doubtful it would be anywhere near as broken as MK: DD lan play. but secondly and more importantly, why just assume that because nintendo has no prior experience with online play (which they actually do, but thats a whole other topic) that they would for some reason fuck it up. try waiting and seeing before making a decision. but the fact is, even a broken online mario kart is still an online mario kart. and who wouldn't want that.Of All Trades said:What happens if MK's online mode is as poorly implemented as MKDD's lan mode? I mean, it's not like there's any evidence that EAD (or any Nintendo team) has any skill whatsoever with netcode (there are what, 2 GC games that support more than 4 players?). Will Nintendo loyalists suddenly decree that lag/shoddy netcode is good because a real gamer would know that conquering lag is part of the challenge, nay, skill of online gaming?
This doesn't even take into account all the other things that could, and most likely will, plague MK DS, like shitty shitty battle arenas. Or have you all forgotten MK7.9's giant cube level?
:lol is that the exact opposite of my method of reply? either way its the same message i think.olimario said:Neat.
You mean not having DS games multiplayer until after E3 right? Yes that would look bad for the public since the PSP is wireless out of the box.ManaByte said:It would be stupid for ANY multiplayer DS game after E3.
I'm pretty sure Gamespy provides (shitty shitty) lobby/matchmaking, not gameplay netcode.ImNotLikeThem said:first off, if last weeks mag scan news was true, Gamespy is supplying the netcode/backend to the DS online play, so there shouldn't be any worries about it being implemented poorly. [/b]
Why? There's no evidence that EAD learned anything from MK: DD. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't, but just as I have no evidence, neither do you, and history is on my side. And it's doubtful it would be anywhere near as broken as MK: DD lan play.[/b]
Saying Nintendo has online play experience is like saying I have game design experience because I had Shoot-Em-Up Construction Kit for my Amiga 2000. Moreover, the reason it's safe to assume fuckups is because history has shown this to be true. MS (excuse me, M$) had a astonishing amount of netcode resources at their disposal, yet the first batch of XBL games had crappy lobbies and so-so netcode. Same with Sony.but secondly and more importantly, why just assume that because nintendo has no prior experience with online play (which they actually do, but thats a whole other topic) that they would for some reason fuck it up.
I don't want a broken online mario kart because when it's critically panned Iwata/Miyamoto will point at it and say "see, we told you online was a fad!"try waiting and seeing before making a decision. but the fact is, even a broken online mario kart is still an online mario kart. and who wouldn't want that.

I'm more worried that the only game that would be leading the charge is Animal Crossing and ignoring Metroid Prime Hunters and Mario Kart DS (both EXCELLENT games for their network). Actually I just want to play some of these classic franchises online, earlier is better but I just hope they are online.
