So I played maybe 12 hours or so of MKW and I'm pretty confident now Sonic will be better. What a colossal disappointment this game is

Sonic Kart wins by default because Mario Kart is bad. That may seem like edgy ragebait to some, but I found 8 to be mundane just like the few others I tried. Diddy Kong and Crash did it better, and I haven't seen a kart racer improve on either in all honesty. Sonic Transformed was okay, but got boring at points and I remember disliking the boat parts.

Yeah I'm rethinking my stance now. I dismissed Crossworlds earlier in the year because MKW was just around the corner, but having played MKW I'm looking towards Kirby Air Riders and maybe Crossworlds to fill the gap.
Until Nintendo get over their god damn unwavering arrogance and admit that nobody wants to be forced to play the intermission tracks online, MKW can go fuck itself.

I'll probably get Crossworlds, it looks fun and the guest character stuff is interesting. MKW looks like a better made game, but Crossworlds might be better to play, if that makes sense? Hard to say for sure until they release.
I wish they'd come out with the digital release date for Switch 2 though, crazy that it isn't day one.

just got MKW and have only played a few hours.
good graphics and it feels good, but...
- 2/3 of a race is just driving to the course
- lots of boring straight-aways
- track is often way too wide, so racers arent interacting much
- some stuff feels copy and pasted from mario kart tour
- n64 mario kart had better music
- because the tracks are so wide, theyre filled with things like ramps, railings, enemies, hazards, etc to make it more interesting... but i feel like im battling the environment more than other racers

The entire N64 soundtrack is in the game, with new remixes. And not only the track themes, but the title screen and character select themes from N64 as well.
And then there's an additional 180+ other music tracks on top of that.

tried the sonic one today at gamescom.
it has some interesting ideas. but the drivings feels very floaty, even with the assist off.
I like that they give you a penalty for hitting walls, and it has a lot of sub systems to customize your driving.
It is more or less on par with mario kart world, the ideal would be a mixture of the two

prefer the originals from what ive heard so far (only played a few hours)
couple new songs have been memorable, but we'll see.
also i hate choco mountain in MKW
basically dont even recognize it from its n64 roots
