Marvel going street level w/ Netflix (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist)

I like Taye Diggs, but not for Luke Cage/Power Man. He seems like he would have to hit the juice to get the right size/look. I know he is cut already (just googled) but not big enough.

Not bad.

Omari Hardwick is another good choice if Power doesn't work out. He's charismatic, has the build and has decent screen presence too.

Terry Crews and Michael Jai White are probably out though, either of those would be fantastic. Michael especially.

Omari Hardwick is my first choice. Perfect blend. People want Crews, but he's a bit on the beefy side.

I love Michael Jai White as much as the next person, and he was my choice to play the role this whole time, but damn if Omari don't already look the part when side by side with that pic. I've never heard of him before, but he just moved onto the list.
What was he in that I might have seen or should check out?

Power has sort of been a guilty pleasure watch (it's admittedly a sorta bad show, but it sorta reminds me of NY Undercover. Sue me) But yeah the main dude on there seems like a good get for Luke Cage.

I just hope the AoS wardrobe and props guys stay the fuck away from Netflix.
Don't even make me imagine what Daredevil would look like.

Does anyone here know much about the director, screenwriter, producers, anything? Forgive my ignorance but I haven't followed this very much. Also, will we get lesser superheroes/villains in this series such as Elektra and Bullseye? Characters that probably wouldn't make it into an Avengers film even if Daredevil did.

The showrunner is Steven DeKnight, who also ran Spartacus. The first two episodes were written by Drew Goddard who directed Cabin in the Woods. Initially Goddard was the showrunner, but had to step down in order to focus on directing Sinister Six for Sony. Originally he was supposed to direct the pilot as well, but I don't know if that's the case anymore. Kingpin has already been cast, but we don't know of any other comic book villains so far. Rosario Dawson is playing an unrevealed role that a lot of people have assumed will be Elektra, but we have no way of knowing for sure just yet.

He's fairly small in terms of notoriety tbh and I only really remember him from his part as Big Daddy's ex-partner in the first Kick Ass movie and as an antagonist gang member in Gridiron Gang. Outside of that, he's likely got considerable screen time in the new Starz show Power but I haven't seen it personally.

I forgot, did they or did they not confirm if this takes place in the MCU? If so, what phase?

It's within the MCU but it seems like all of the TV Shows aren't necessarily taking place alongside the movies. Agent Carter for example will be set in the past. Technically you could say it's Phase 1 simply because CA: The First Avenger is Phase 1 and would pre-date that show but it really will serve only to flesh out the history within the Universe.

Okay, I don't watch Spartacus but have heard good-ish things, seems to get brushed under the rug because of the popularity of GoT. I was a big fan of Cabin in the Woods though, found it to be in good humour and had an interesting take on horror films.

Exciting stuff!

Oh and thank you for telling me this information.

As a side note, it's worth noting (whether this affects your opinion positively or negatively) that DeKnight and Goddard both got their start as Writers under Joss Whedon on Buffy. While they both went on to work on some very Not-Whedonesque projects (DeKnight worked on Smallville and Spartacus, Goddard on Lost and Alias) the fact that they worked with Joss on numerous projects as well as with each other shows that at the very least their work should gel very well with each others as well as with other Marvel projects.

Maybe they'll set her up as Claire Temple in Daredevil. She then appears in Luke Cage. Bill Foster is introduced in Ant-Man, acquires the Pym particles at some point, and crosses over to make an appearance in Daredevil maybe. Luke Cage's big bad can be the Circus of Crime. Foster is Goliath now for Avengers 3.
