I imagine they'll cast an Asian actress as Colleen if they use her. Maybe give her a wig or dye her hair or just not care (the movie people didn't care that Scott and Cassie Lang didn't have their comic hair colors and even in the Netflix series, Jessica's hair is much darker than her comic counterpart's).

Of course. Which is the major problem. It's not that Marvel doesn't have Asian American heroes. They're just never going to bank on those characters to lead a show or film. That's the sentiment that feeds into this idea of an Asian Iron Fist. Hollywood has built one reality and changes like that allow for greater representation, while working in that reality.

It's more of a stopgap solution to what Marvel (Comics) is doing right now. Which also has its detractors.

X-men just got real Latino diversity with Goldballs, before that it was Darwin and El Agulia.

Avengers have Living Lightening gay and latino, Firebird, Silverclaw, Reptil, and Bantam

THey did the best Gen Xers so wrong, there is no replacing Synch. A black male from a uppermiddleclass happy family life, nope too impossible get rid of him.

...but did I mention Speedball? Is there any greater injustice then having your name snatched by Speedball? I mean, short of Monica's entire life, I can't think of one.

Jessica Jones being so unapologetically female-focused and Agents of Shield having multiple Black and Asian characters on the main cast (it was really surprising that they had 2 black men and 2 asian women for a long time) kind of gives me hope that Marvel is thinking in the right direction for diversity, even if we don't get a Black Spiderman, or presumably an Asian Iron Fist.

As for Black Panther, I think you're correct that they won't shy away from making a very Black movie, but I'm more concerned about how they would respond if the movie underperforms by their standards.

Yup. They didn't know how to remove his Death Seed and undo the effects. Sentry fucked off into deep space, Grim Reaper got killed (again, and by Logan this time. I think it's his role in every story.), and Daken...I have no idea.

Oh, I didn't mean spoilers about DD or Punisher. I meant like they always have top five headlines and other stuff on their pages that often have spoilers or spoilery pictures. It's just hard to avoid spoilers for current shows when browsing that site in general. Anyway, I really appreciate the info. Thanks Kirb!

Maybe one day. I was critical of Marvel for not having gay characters a while ago. Now we have a cool superhero character that metalbends on AoS; JJ had gay couples; even DD didn't engage in strict heteronormativity when disusing if one had a significant other.
