I can feel your pain through your monitor… Not a single game is perfect, but you can judge a game as a 10/10 because the result is greater than the sum of its parts.

A 10/10 never means a perfect game, but a game that is perfect as is. Also, if the review scales start at around 9/10 for Halo Infinite in its current form, in comparison a lot of games should get at least 10 out of 10s.

I agree a game can be 10/10 as the scale is much smaller even though it still means a perfect score.

Ponder Denzel Washington GIF by Entertainment Tonight

If you don't choose a ridiculously low score that was obviously not going to happen, do you even have a sense of humour?

It is beyond me to how the fuck they managed to improve the graphics by such a huge margin after showing that first gameplay demo.
Graphically it seemed really meh and looked like it could be done on a PS4 (Pro).

By today's industry standards worse graphics than in the demo wouldn't even have surprised me.
Seems like those talks about the demo being an older build were probably true, a surprise for once.

Friday can't come sooner, luckily I did not watch any footage other than that first demo (and saw those amazing gifs here for comparison) and will also not read nor watch any review. YouTube will also be a red zone because of those stupid fucks who are spoilering key story moments in their titles.

I was pretty sure there would be an improvement. One of the great ironies of the puddlgate thing was that the before/after pictures being compared showed pretty obvious improvements.

Expected high 80's but looks like they polished it a bit more for the 90. Game doesn't interest me but seems like another win PlayStation only gamers.

Says all of what?
His point was that you have a negative outlook of the game (that's what he took from your ridiculous prediction and then subsequent post in here). You're now saying it was a joke, which I dig. You just can't expect people to be mind readers, especially when your first post is saying that only a handful of games are perfect, which isn't true. No game is perfect.

Point is, if your first post about the game is relatively negative, and you had a low prediction (albeit, very very low — to an impossible low ), then that's all people saw. If they misunderstood you, cool beans!

27 to a 10 million success?

At that point, Last of Us Part II was close to 12 million than 10 million and this is after the Last of Us Remake release. What you ignore is that Last of Us was given away in over 20 console bundles for 6 years, which increased the volume of sales.

Do you now Last of Us Part II surpassed the original game in revenue on the NPD charts in less than a month? That goes to show you how much bundles played a factor in the sales.

I would also like to add that Last of Us Part II is in the top 20 best selling games of the year for the first half of 2023 in Europe. Last of Us didn't need bundles to reach this many sales, so Last of Us Part II is actually a bigger success.

I'm not ignoring it, hell, it might even strengthen my point. A metric fuckton of people played The Last of Us Part I. Some bought it new, some got it bundled, some bought it used and some pirated it (which probably makes it so that much more than 27 million people played it), and one fact remains: it was universally loved. It was a surprise hit for both Naughty Dog and Sony. It became a cultural phenomenon, it hit the zeitgest. I can't remember the last time besides TLOU where a game had as much discussion about it and in such a meaningful way. Sometimes nowadays threads STILL pop up talking about the goddamn ending - that's how much impact the game had. The recent HBO series confirms it has mass appeal with nerds, normies, everyone.

Fast forward to 2020. Hype is absolutely through the roof, marketing is going crazy, everyone can't wait to see the continuation of Joel and Ellie's story. TLOU 2 is at that point the most expensive Sony game ever, with massive expectations behind it. A sequel to such a massive game and now established franchise is supposed to have better results, to be more successful. The game comes out, sells 4 million copies in the first 3 days out of the gate (surely mostly pre-orders fueled by the hype) and then...nothing. Radio silence, while they massively discount TLOU 2 and keep updating sales from every other game besides it. Two years later and they finally come out with the 10 million copies sold, which is the same as...fucking Ghost of Tsushima? Again, don't misunderstand me, GoT is a very good game, but COME ON now. The 2 developers and games are not even in the same ballpark when it comes to expectations. So yeah, that's why I cannot call TLOU 2 a success. The only thing it succeeded at was fracturing the fanbase.

Wasn't going to get this at launch but couldn't resist. Those short clips I saw got me hype. Hope its a step up on SM1 and MM.

From Phantom Liberty to this.. man this year has been a banger for games.

I’ve been replaying Witcher 3, and decided to buy Cyberpunk 2077… what should I expect? I’ll be playing on PS5.

I’ll probably start CP2077 after Spider-Man 2 though…

Insomniac Games most likely has 2-3 teams.
Ratchet & Clank 2015 - Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart 2021. 6 Years
Marvel's Spider-Man 2018 - Marvel's Spider-Man 2023. 5 Years

I don't get why you guys say Insomniac output of games are fast.
Ratchet & Clank was 2016, and then there's Spider-Man Miles Morales in 2020. Also, why does it matter that they have more than one team? It's still Insomniac as a whole.

Played Cyberpunk for the first time just the past couple weeks. It is the best gaming experience I have had the past few years. It has the world building/depth of a game like RDR2 alongside deep rpg mechanics. Gameplay is so much better than I ever imagined as well. Outside of 7-8 crashes on the PS5, I have encountered few bugs. Just a really unique gaming experience

If you haven't played the base game yet... you're in for a treat. It was an amazing game when it launched (but with a rocky start, esp on consoles), now even better with the latest patches and DLC. Only played on PC so can't give any insight on how it runs or plays on PS5 but I'd assume it runs well with only visual fidelity and performance seperating it from that.

For the game itself. Its gone far up to one of my favorite games of all time. Interesting world, lore, story and characters and the gameplay is fairly fun too. Lots of builds to play with and story choices to make. Definately would put the time away from others as it's quite long and not worth starting rn given that SM2 is out in a few days.

Wait, MJ stealth missions are back!? Why, for f’s sake? Why the f are these stupid Stealth missions needed?

Meh, I hate these Stealth missions, for Peter and Miles as well. Sigh, they just sucks. Will wait for a sale now. I know this may sound stupid but it completely ruined the flow in the first game.

I just love Witcher 3, so I’m buying CP2077 based on the fact that it’s from cdpr.

Thank you. I don’t think I’ll be playing the expansion yet; maybe when it’s cheaper or if I really like the game.

It can’t be better than Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine?

Sorry for derailing the thread. Can’t wait for Spider-Man ✌🏼

I just tried to state 100 / 100 is stupid, I wrote the game looks amazing and I will buy it as I did with the first game.

I definitely know this isn't a perfect game without even playing it.

I also expected it to get 8s and 9s and maybe between 90 and 100.

Cold beans ftw.

Fwiw, most reviews say they’re actually good this time
They aren’t needed this time or any time. It’s ridiculous, game is called Spider-Man 2, it MJ’s mundane adventures with a taser.

I hate when games do that shit, basically take away your character, lower, etc and force the stealth missions. Totally ruined my anticipation for the game. Oh well, it’s what it is. Will grab it used down the road.

My only complaint. I bet if you got a room of girls and asked them if Peter and Miles are hot you'd get a lot of yes, I'd bang....

Ask a room of dude about MJ and .........

Why do studios keep doing this? The game looks incredible and it's not like it's really a big deal but, I just don't get why this is happening and for how long?

She looks like clark's mom from smallville ;P Allmost all big AAA western studios make female character not sexy, sony is in that team too(one exception was detroit become human, maybe coz it was android so they got green light to not use her as ugly-agenda example but she was sexy af ;)

It's not, but the gameplay mechanic is.

Since I posted that "hot take" I've since purchased the game

Am I not allowed to point out the percieved hypocrisy?
Perceived hypocrisy? The same mechanic in two games in two different genres can obviously completely change of value ( nobody would welcome the introduction of a double jump in GT, for example). And I' m pretty sure you can also use the normal traversal mechanics to reach your next destination in Spiderman 2, if this is what you prefer ...

lol what you mean demo was probably an older build? Like you really think they just decided to add raytracing and improved graphics in the last 6 months because people on the internet complained??

Also its crazy how some of yall think sony would allow any of their AAA devs to ship a game with anything less than top notch graphics.

I never got all the harping on the MJ missions. It like all together 20 minutes of a 30 hour game.

A large part of the game was already stealth - as that's part of Spidey's whole repertoire - and being stealthy with Spider-Man was really fun, fast, and dynamic. Then all of the sudden we're hit with these sluggish instant-fail stealth segments that felt of out place.

That said, while I didn't like how they were executed gameplay wise, I like them more than dislike them for the way they could break up the pacing a little and take their time to tell some story.
