The Eternals will feature Marvel's first onscreen LGBTQ kiss: 'It’s a beautiful, very moving kiss'
Bland, boring and pointless, but at least we'll get some hot smooching action:
When the sexual orientation of your characters are the most interesting selling point of your movie, you've screwed up.

"Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” welcomes an exciting new team of Super Heroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The epic story, spanning thousands of years, features a group of immortal heroes forced out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s oldest enemy, The Deviants. The outstanding ensemble cast includes Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena. Kit Harington plays Dane Whitman."
It's like Justice League or Endgame but without any characters you know, but look at these name actors we've got and what their super powers are but with that massive ensemble cast don't expect much screen time for most of them to show off what they can do.
Hmm he's kind of a major component to Secret Wars and Warlock's stuff IIRC? But I guess they don't have to follow it exactly.Thanos won't return, I think it will be a flashback.
Those outfits are as generic and bland as anything I've seen lately. I mean, they feel more like cbeap Stage/Play props/costumes from a high school performance than anything else.
The majority of the land/sea/air of the world they are building looks so yellow-brown. There were moments of interesting color, but this is my same fear for D.Villeneuve's Dune. Mostly dull colouration to contrast snippets of scenes featuring bountiful color.
Not knowing about these characters doesn't help, but I didn't know anything about Starlord or Drax or Gamora either back in the day and I like them now! MCU can't miss, right?
...right?
It was literally the first thing I came across when I googled that movie. It's not the most interesting selling point, it's just what you choose to focus on.
This is their selling point.

Famous people don't carry movies,
I’m in because I love Marvel but this just looks like generic sci-fi. I’m sure it will be good but Marvel needs to get X-men back in stat with RDJ and Evans retiring. Because of COVID Endgame seems like forever ago.
It was literally the first thing I came across when I googled that movie.
Also that synopsis is such generic PR marketing crap and if I wanted a list of b-grade celebrity names, I'd have bought a phone book.
Famous people don't carry movies, but good stories do. The whole setting looks just so absolutely bland, uninspired and devoid of any character.
that's supposed to be an apocalypse or something?
everybody looks so clean and healthy
they're all so pristine yet they're eating what looks like a feast in like a rock tavern surrounded by ruins
jon snow wont save you dude
just watch them bring back iron man 4
when these avengers byproducts hit the iceberg they will do iron man 4 and make 1000 billion dollars
My man Jon Snow can't catch a break.
I hope the LGTB kiss is between Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek, at least.
The costumes reminds me too much of Bollywood.
There's apparently a Bollywood dance sequence in it according to the leak.
You can see it in the trailer. Please don't put leaked info without spoilers.
It's mentioned 5 times in the wiki article... also Feige has been talking about it since 2019 and so has Chloé Zhao. It will also apparently feature "the first deaf superhero" as if "being the first" would be any indication on the quality of the movie. I know basically nothing about the Eternals and these are the first things that are being shoved in my face. Marvel has become like that annoying commentator who always writes "first" in each comment section.I don't see the Entertainment Weekly article.

What about The Boys? Which is an excellent series btw.Marvels first gay superhero kiss was in New Mutants
and Trainspotting,
Not a Marvel seriesWhat about The Boys? Which is an excellent series btw.
Yeah Spud kisses Sick Boy in the beginning of the movie, but gets called off. The thing is, it just happens as with any other regular interaction. Nobody cared back in the 80s, why would we start caring now?Did it? I've seen that movie a few times. But obviously, that's your point. It was no big deal. The gay kiss watershed was back in the 80's (at least in the UK).

Who gives a rat's rear about "the first gay superhero kiss", plenty of excellent movies have done gay kisses before. I love Brokeback Mountain, Scott Pilgrim, American Beauty and Trainspotting, but these movies didn't parade homosexuality around like some kind of freak spectacle. They presented gay affection like a normal human interaction.
Marvel trying hard to tap that Indian movie audience. They really don't care if it fits their movie or not. Pandering for views, that's what this movie boils down to.
When pressed if there’s an LGBTQ character in The Eternals, Feige confirmed that yes, that’s the case."“Yes that’s the case, and will be the case not just with [Valkyrie] but with other characters in some of the movies we talked about today.”
Oh yeah true, sorry I got confused there for a second. I dunno why my brain decided to twist that around, but that's even more underwhelmingyeah I mean that's what you've quoted here
Marvel Studios’ Eternals | Official Teaser
Trailer is already over 7 million views, faster than Shang Chi I think?www.neogaf.com
There is no marketing surrounding gay or deaf characters.
Kumail's character is a Bollywood actor in the film.
The Steve Rogers and Tony Stark joke was so meta 4th wall breaking and cringey.
My man Jon Snow can't catch a break.
I hope the LGTB kiss is between Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek, at least.
??? Looks fantastic. Not a normal cape flick.
What was so bad about it?
How's it breaking the fourth wall when the movie is set in the same universe as those characters?
There's been 23 of these movies so far. The idea that they're all set in the same universe and connected shouldn't be new to anyone by now.
For a pandering film that's awful stereotyping.
