MLB The Show is somewhat niche, too.

Dragon Ball FighterZ sold over 6 million copies, so a well-known IP can still do huge numbers. A dream scenario would have Sony buying the studio and then fund a big triple A fighting game with a new Marvel vs Capcom that is co-developed by Arc.

They didn't buy it but they did in fact co-develop a ....fighting game with Marvel characters and not Capcom.

Sad it's not Capcom, ASW games just don't feel as good. But I understand wanting something new and with a company that has more recent IP success (DBZ).

But Arcs DLC pricing is awful.

That's not a negative lol

Marvel Infinite had less players than the free DBZ Fighterz weekend and gave everyone what they wanted. This was natural IMO, especially seeing they made a glorious fan service game like that.
It is to me. I don't like fighting games

Honestly, this looks awesome - basically what I wanted from an MVC4 (ie: not Infinite). Pacing looks right, it looks downright fun, and I'm digging the character designs.

Not really into fighting games, but this looks like a banger. I love Marvel characters, love the art style and how it has an anime twist, rather than just conform to how the characters traditionally look. Looks like it has some passion and soul from that mini documentary. Count me in.

I agree on pricing but IMO DBZ is way better than Infinite.

I rather give them a chance. Capcom fumbled Infinite really bad.

4x4 is an obvious choice but at the same time who the hell has time to learn how to get good with four friggin characters? This has always been my issue with these tag fighting games. The aesthetics and characters are cool and that brings in some casuals in the beginning but then the game itself becomes super niche and the only people who can make any progress are the people who have been playing it since release.

The dev literally addressed that in the presentation, you can either learn all characters on your team and tag into them, or just use one character and use the others as assists.

But how does that work? Unless all 4 characters share 1 lifebar? Once the point character dies, it's next character up normally.

Edit: Watching the announcement vid again, I didn't see any character lifebars, meter, etc

Don't care for fighting games but every now and then one comes along to ignite my interest.

This is one of those games.

Same, but I mostly don't like most modern fighting games. Arc System Works games are generally too technical for me, but I love their style. I also have zero interest in Marvel, but Arc's style and everything being in Japanese is going to make me buy this game.

Picture the ratio system from CVS 2, but with assists instead of just 1 guy.

Serious Dragonball Fighter Z vibes, which is one of the best fighting games ever made, with its play style. Bring...it....on!

I don't think anything leaked, at all. Sony ninjas doing their work, I guess.
Nioh 3, as well a pretty comprehensive list of partners to be featured at this event (such as IOI, making it a given that we'd see 007 here) had all leaked in the hours prior.

Fantastic event regardless of it though.

weird game to end the show on "especially when you promised saros last time" but it looks like a good time, not a game for me though.
They never said Saros would be at the next SOP. They said Saros will be shown "later this year". Sony will most likely have another SOP in September and there's also The Game Awards.

Max was talking about the possibility of a 4v4 game 2 weeks ago:

In the same video he talks about a potential Marvel vs Capcom 4. No doubt Max heard something from his contacts, but assumed it was MvC4.

Good catch, in retrospect it's kinda insane that a Marvel 4v4 game made by ArcSys and published by Sony didn't totally leak.

Certified megaton announcement, anyone shitting on it has no clue what they are talking about lol (or just hates fighters but should still see how big a reveal this is), day fucking one 👌
