Best played on PC because of free online, vast compatibility with many fight sticks, lower latency, no melting USB ports and portability with handheld PC.

You saw James Sawyer Ford get the boot for his fanboyism and you tell yourself it's a good idea to go that same route?

Official tournaments will be PS5 only and the PS version will have more players for most of the life of the game. I don't have a PS5, but I think it will be the better version for most people. I'm just happy PC a solid option for those who want more compatibility and long term sustainability. and costume mods

I'll be the only guy:

I loath that Iron Man design. Utterly fucking despise it.

That being said, this is getting bought. I'll just never play Iron Man and pretend that rancid, God awful offense against Earth and Heaven design never graces mine lab time. In general, I don't really like any of these designs to be honest, outside of Doom, Spidey, and Ghost Rider, they all look good.

I am fully aware that I will be in the minority here, and that's fine. Pumped for the game in general though, and I'm sure it will be insanely fun.

I rarely play any fighting games and never any tag team ones, so this isn't for me. that said, it looks good and I like the art style so it'll be at least a fun watch seeing others play it. hope they would have a huge roster to pick from.

Sad it's not Capcom, ASW games just don't feel as good. But I understand wanting something new and with a company that has more recent IP success (DBZ).

But Arcs DLC pricing is awful.

SF6 charges me $40 CAD a year for the basic season pass. Just 4 characters, their base outfit 1 colors, and 4200 drive tickets. Stages have to be acquired with drive tickets or bought.

GG Strive charges me $33 CAD a year for 4 characters, 2 stages, and they usually throw in a colour for the entire character roster. It's much cheaper and easier to buy and own everything with Strive considering there are no deluxe passes and the only extra content DLC is the 25th Anniversary colors 2 pack.

Blame the publishers, not developer. The prices on the FighterZ DLC are probably on Bandai Namco and Grandblue Rising on Cygames. Arc System Works is usually pretty fair when they publish.

I've rewatched the trailer at least 6 times now and can imagine this team making a proper Bleach fighting game. Someday someone will do the ip justice as the characters are tailor made to be put into one.
That said and unless something changes, the gameplay is slow compared to the MvC Capcom games. Probably a good thing with all the chaos that can be on screen at once.

Damn, the art style is incredible. Arc System doing it again.

Looks pretty dope but 4v4 is too much for me.

But I guess there will be some mode with solo fighter + assist.

4x4 is an obvious choice but at the same time who the hell has time to learn how to get good with four friggin characters? This has always been my issue with these tag fighting games. The aesthetics and characters are cool and that brings in some casuals in the beginning but then the game itself becomes super niche and the only people who can make any progress are the people who have been playing it since release.
They specifically said you don't have to do this

I didn't think any dev could make Cap look cooler.

But somehow they keep one-upping each other. Hoping for a U.S. Agent skin with a darker outfit.

I'm not into fighting games, nor care much about Marvel, but my god this game looks so freaking good.

Arc System are on a different level altogether when it comes to visuals. It's crazy

I was waiting for an ArcSys game that would tap into something I care.
Guilty Gear is fine, but I am not a big fan.
Could not care less about Dragon Ball, complete skipped that one.

This, however. Duuuude. This is huge.

I wish it was Marvel vs DC, but WB is too stupid to do that.

Day fucking 0.

The art and graphics are great, but the best part of this is seeing that they didn't chop the animations up like they do in their other games for a more "anime" style look. I don't give a damn what anyone says. Less fluid animation always looks worse than fluid animation. No one watches an anime hoping the hyped up fight has cut frames and choppiness. This looks so much better in motion, and I'm all for it. I've never been the biggest VS fan even though it was a part of my childhood, but I'm junping on this.

For fuck sake

Draugoth Draugoth !!!!

Get your damn clickbait titles correct.

You gave me hope of an actual Marvel vs Capcom game.

EDIT: To those who are coming after the thread title change. Draugoth called the game Marvel vs Capcom in his quest to be the first to post about the game on GAF.
I watched the video and I am super hyped, the art style looks incredible and I trust the devs making a kick-ass fighting game to boot! Great job XDEV for helping this come to life :)!

I agree on pricing but IMO DBZ is way better than Infinite.

I rather give them a chance. Capcom fumbled Infinite really bad.

Wasn't that Marvels own fault though? Pushing MCU and other bs? But here "tell us what you want to make"...

Thank God this is less about movie look, same as Marvel Rivals. Finally they get it.

This was a hype announcement out of nowhere. Sony interrupted Yotei for this. They must feel it's worth the hype.

I am wondering where this leaves MvC now. They say in the video that this was a three way collaboration - Sony, Arc and Marvel. So if Marvel / Sony are making this their FGC core game, will they want Capcom making more MvC entries - not that Capcom seemed that interested anyway.

Perhaps this explains why Capcom put out the MvC re-release last year. Like a goodbye for the series - at least for now.

Anyway there's a lot riding on this. Sony have been gradually establishing themselves as the FGC hub, and this seems to be a direct commitment to putting out content for that segment again.

All-stars didn't pan out, but maybe a marvel license will boost Sony's fortunes in the segment.

And a fighting stick to go with it...

Thank Chinese 3D animators for this. They have been making waves in anime and gaming with their animated efforts and have been showing that it can work and look incredible without needing to cut frames. This was one of the first, but many examples, that looked amazing:

Japanese companies started taking notice and games like Marvel Tokon are the result.

Now we just hope that it continues to their next game.

Not massive on fighting games myself, but this is a day one purchase for me. The art style is just incredible and it's awesome that they're using Japanese VA for it.

Unless that's sarcasm, they promised nothing lol

They never said Saros would be at the next SOP. They said Saros will be shown "later this year". Sony will most likely have another SOP in September and there's also The Game Awards.
I'll leave it up to the audience here...

Chat, is June later than April in the year or Earlier?

Apparently it's a ludicrous thing to think that June is later in the year.

Where it leaves MvC is nowhere. MvCI fumbled so hard that it gave Sony the chance to swoop in.

I don't see the point. Marvel Super Heroes and COTA already exist (for 30 years) and they are basically the exact same thing.

No crossplay?

Looks fantastic and going all in on their own redesigns was a smart choice. That title is terrible though, they should unironically rename it "Marvel 4" just to fuck with Capcom.

With 4 vs 4 they must have plans to build a fucking gigantic roster for this.

Looks like an absolute banger.

I'm definitely up for it.

Nowadays games require way more development resources than before, which means Capcom's fighting team is too busy with Street Fighter to handle another fighter at the same time. They are also GaaS, meaning a new MvC coexisting with SF would cannibalize player time and revenue.

So even if they'd have resources, maybe wouldn't be a good idea for Capcom to make another MvsC. I assume Marvel also thought Capcom did a poor job with Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, so wanted to try something new in the fighting game area. Netherealm already had MK and Injustice, and Bandai Namco has a gazillion fighting games.

Marvel and Sony are very happy with each other, so partnered for this game. ARC System Works are very talented, but their own IPs almost don't sell. They got super successful with Dragon Ball FighterZ due to the huge popularity of the IP and sold over 10M copies as of two years ago.

Sony's publishing, funding and marketing (which includes owning EVO) will leverage ARC System Works production values and reach a bigger audience, which combined with the extra popularity of all these top Marvel IPs combined will help the game to sell even more than what they sold with DBFZ. It has potential to become the best selling fighting game ever (not counting the different SFII editions, sequels, versions, ports, collections, etc together).

Having this game and EVO, make sure Capcom will put real money on the table to move the eSports of this game. Something that will also benefit the eSports of SF, Tekken, etc. because most tournaments feature multiple games and it's important for proplayers, sponsors and viewers to have multiple important games. It's a win/win for everybody.

This means Marvel vs Capcom will sleep at least for a while, but it would be the same if this game wouldn't exist. Maybe in the future, if Capcom's staff continues growing and the fighting game userbase continues expanding we may see a new Marvel vs Capcom coexisting with this title.

Yep. They have a gazillion characters to choose from, and each one with a gazillion costumes already designed. And well, in addition to a gazillion Marvel characters, Sony could include there a few guest PS Studios characters.

As much as I am excited to see this game come out, the lack of Capcom fighters is a bummer. No DMC, no Spencer, no Chris, no Darkstalkers, etc....broken characters in a MvC is part of the appeal of these type of games.

Also, they better have a Wolvie in the game and a large cast of characters. Not a fan of the potential GAAS BS potential and hopefully they don't go full retard in that direction.
Excited to see more gameplay hopefully soonish. It does look like they borrowed a lot of the UMvC3 DNA and less of MvCI which is a good thing.

Oh, I fully expect there to be a million DLC characters/costumes, including Sony's own PS Studio characters.

I wonder if they plan on adding Gwenpool to the character roster. Would be cool if they did.

GsoeaUDb0AA-H_i

Other writers after this run stupidly just write her as "female Deadpool" which completely misses the point of her, but the actual original run, The Unbelievable Gwenpool by Christopher Hastings, is honestly incredible.

No, (because I know some non-reader here will make the assumption) it's not some forced connection of an alternate universe Gwen Stacy becoming Deadpool. She's a completely non-powered human girl named Gwen Poole who lives in OUR world, where Marvel is just comics, movies, games, cartoons, etc. and she gets isekai'd into the Marvel comic universe, but still has zero powers and has to rely on solely on her knowledge of the universe as a fan, plus the help of some friends she'll make along the way with a dash of dumb luck and maybe some explosives if necessary, to survive the super powered world she's clearly not ready for. It's so engaging and funny.

You are a GAF veteran.

What made you quote my post?
I dunno, I reacted to what I liked in the video and I was excited about the game hehe. Maybe it is the "oh but it is not Capcom related as it was a negative", maybe that? Did not mean to put your comment down, just a spur of the moment reply.

This game made me think of Maximum Carnage on the Mega Drive for some reason, like I want a beat'em up with those graphics.

The new cope they're doing on the Reset thread is fearmongering about Sony buying Arc System Works if this collab does well (which it will). The frailness of their reasons are:

1: "FGC will riot". Because a company that bought half of EVO, has been investing in EVO & FGC for years (Capcom Cup for example), and just revealed a new Marvel fighter coming to two platforms 100% of the FGC already play on Day 1....will suddenly get mad because of "reasons" 🤣

2: "Arc doesn't want to be tied down". Weren't they approached for an opportunity to do this by SIE? If they didn't want to be tied down, they could've just refused the offer.

3: "I don't have a PS5 or PC". Well buddy it's your own fault you bet on a platform of slim chances this gen as your only gaming outlet. Maybe make better choices next time.

And doubt he was referring to being a Nintendo-only gamer

It's been kinda funny waking up to see what the cope would be now that the weight of this game's existence is truly setting in.
