People are going to buy it only to support Buktooth but guides are kinda useless unless from a collecting standpoint when you have places like SRK and Gamefaqs.

Buktooth and the other author are not getting any commissions from guide sales, so no, nobody is buying the guide to support Buktooth.

I am buying the guide because I want a one-stop source of complete information about the game. Furthermore, if we're only talking about frame data, it's about 100x easier to flip through a few pages than to click through Wikis on multiple pages to find what I'm looking for.

Finally, I'm going to trust the strategy written by people that have been playing the game for 4 months way more than what a bunch of idiots write in Wikis after a week.

The guide is a no-brainer: if you want an advantage over the general MVC3-playing audience, buy it.

Compared to the rest of them since every game thereafter went a little more overboard, yeah, but still unbalanced.

Hey everyone could kill you in one hit. That's pretty balanced xD

The OP has a bunch of great information about various special techniques, but it doesn't say anything about Advancing Guard. And to be honest, the only thing I know about Advancing Guard is that the announcer says it every now and then. Anyone care to educate me? And should such information perhaps be edited into the OP?

Yup 40lbs apparently. Looks like a whole different dude now. Congrats to him.

TvC is pretty balanced. Zero is tops of course but he isn't broken.

UAS version of TvC seems to be where Capcom started getting more serious about balancing games. Bearing in mind the localization / new characters / rebalancing likely had only a fraction of the budget and time of a huge game like Marvel.

MvC3 of course is taking the approach of making everyone a nuclear death machine ;D

Hearing the word 'nigga' come from something that sounds like James Earl Jones is weird

lol James Earl Jones did Fences, and there's plenty of those words flying around.

Saturn gamepads are USB? And will work on a PS3 and 360 without modification or drivers? And are good?!

I shall look into this! Thank you

Sidenote:

I don't understand lobbies and spectating. I spent ten minutes on MvC2 online this weekend just trying to play a couple matches. All lobbies were 3/4, or 5/6, or whatever. If I joined either, me and the fourth, or me and the sixth player would sit there and wait to play. How ridiculous. Why couldn't the game let us play a match ourselves while we wait? Would people really rather just watch someone else play?

PS3 they work fine on, but not the 360. And only the Saturn USB pads are USB, of course!

Just PS3 without some sort of converter. :(

Edit: Beaten!

:p You and I both know there are people whom are going to buy it when they find out Buktooth was behind it. Not because of monetary reasoning but for the fact he had something to do with it. Support your fellow players in the community. Yours is a different case which I'd say many will also follow. I still think the majority of people playing the game will resort to sites for their tips and tricks.

Well, I'm having a hard time understanding how a rather unbalanced yet competative fighting game could've become soo popular.

Because if the game is deep enough at a top level, you can have enough variety with a fraction of the cast as opposed to homogenized balanced game.

What does that mean? It's just a video and non-interactive or something?

From what I understand CvSNK2 and 3rd Strike were like that as well. Unbalanced, but it didn't stop tournaments from happening with the handful of top characters.

I am a complete noob, so this guide will definitely be useful.

some dude in brampton occasionally sells sticks, not always working though.

Unworking sticks are easy for me to fix though. But even still they do occasionally go on sale. Like the TvC stick (SE with better parts) that was selling for $20 new at gamestop a month ago.

Cvs2 had untapped potential that no one bothered finding. CVS2 also had people playing very oddball characters that got pretty far with them. Buktooth made his team look really good, even though they have their fair share of problems against the standard A groove team.

Whomever asked earlier, if he wasn't answered...

You could see controller config in the urley stream -- they had a trigger button mapped to L+M+H.

Relevant to my interests cause I live in Brampton. Guess I just got to keep an eye out for some 360 sticks going on sale for cheap. Checked kijiji/craigslist/ebay a week ago and nothing for under like 90$. Just looking for my first arcade stick to dabble with that won't bust on me in a week.

People will enjoy a game no matter how balanced it is as long as it's fun to play. VF was always more balanced than Tekken but uhhh look at how successful the two are. T4 took a drastic turn in game play and VF4 was equal to or even better in terms of popularity because of it. Namco went back to the drawing board with T5 and the series was back on track. If you think about it, was there ever an absolute balanced fighter?

Well...lets not go nuts here. VF5 series (R and FS) was 3rd in arcade income last year behind Tekken 6 and Gundam vs. Gundam Next. Hell, even Melty Blood (putting both versions together) possibly made more than SF4.

VF5's woes outside of Japan are due to the style/characters imho. Not the balance.

All right folks, here's a mess of Shinkiro avs to help you get hype (and a few substitutions where none were available). Lay your claim and please, pleeease rehost if you take one!

Kadey is saying that, exactly... VFs failure outside of Japan wasn't because it was balanced, because it was way too technical -- which became NOT FUN.

Any word on NYC stores breaking street date [is that OK to talk about? sorry if it isn't mods..]
