how are the psn/xbl ports laughable? they seem pretty accurate to me. or do you mean laughable in that they didn't add anything from the arcade?

Any port by backbone sucks. The game is buggier than the DC version.

From the pics on /v/ of people looking through the game in XV132 show Jill/Shuma are already on disc.

Possibly even activateable.

Pics rehosted: 1 2

Mods I can link to this, yes?

They're on the disc? Oh noes. You're going to buy them and you're going to like it. I know I will.

I was watching MVC3 videos and my little nephew saw iron man (very into the Iron Man stuff thanks to the recent movie + toys) and he was all into it. Cheering when it looked like Iron was doing good, and getting upset yelling "come on Iron Man" when he was getting beat up. This game will overload his mind. Kids got it good these days, and I'm sure this game is going to sell very well. The ad was all over the tv weeks ago and I rarely watch tv. And you think these intro videos give us chills? They must blow kids minds open.

Wouldn't they have to be on the disc, so players who own them can play against those who don't?

2nd, It's Capcom. No shit it's just gonna be unlock keys.

Not necessarily, unless your implying all future DLC HAS to be on disc for people to face eachother with it, which doesn't have to be the case. They could include DLC in large title updates like Burnout Paradise, and then have DLC as unlock keys to access that content. That's a legitimate way of doing it. Dude hasn't found traces of Frank West, etc. yet though.

aren't jill and shuma supposed to be free for everyone?
CE owners all get it free, otherwise, we have no information on whether they will be for pay or free. Most likely for pay.

Haha, no way. MVC will never be able to touch SF levels of popularity.

SF brought back people who haven't played FG's in a while. MVC brings in that crowd + a whole new crowd who is into marvel.

Why does everybody keep thinking Striders going to be in? Due to his extra licensing issues he's the least likely character on the entire roster to return.

Disc no, but wouldn't people have to download the basic data units to even register the character?

Oh and if you think they're placeholders:

Jill AtkCollision
Jill AtkBodyCollision
Jill Model (a series of these)
Jill Motion
Jill Model 3p
Jill Hair
Jill Text
Jill Baseact

Straight from /v/ once again. Dude is looking into trying to play Galactus or anything now. Also, people are making up Lupinko leaks to troll others, so yeah anything else is pretty much BS. More info soon:

It's not that the characters are new, it's that they're on the disk, and they're still charging for the DLC.

So far, no other characters. There are some empty spaces in terms of numbers, but, well, I'll write all that up in a bit.

No news yet. Transferring files to and from different hard drives.

You're underestimating the SF brand and overestimating the casual crowd's willingness to suddenly jump on all fighting games. We shall see. I certainly hope it will sell very well.

For video games sure (to an extent), but man kids these days do not now what good TV is like.

It's balanced out with Boomerang, old episodes of the cartoons we used to watch on demand, netflix, ipod touch, DSlite, soon DS 3D, PSP2, etc. They can watch cartoons any time they feel like it, no need for woody woodpecker VHS tapes, or waiting on the birth of cartoon network to play cartoons at night.

Am I? Do you have any idea how bad Third Strike was in terms of popularity? That game was underground until the Daigo parry video. SF isn't even the most popular in Japan man.

Well he was voted the #1 character in capcom-unity's dlc chracter request thread.

The sales question boils down to this; how many people are brought in by the following statements.

"Dude new fighters out it's like SF2 we can throw fireballs oh man it's awesome."

"Dude new fighters out you can fight Iron Man and Wolverine against Dante and Ryu oh man it's awesome."

that game is still underground.

HD Remix, lulz

you can't cherry pick your SF games.

Especially since HDR was tops too.

you mean the one that was started by a forum member?

Does it matter? Capcom held those kinds of votes to see what characters would be in the SF4 variants, then the character lists leaked and they kept on pretending like it was our votes that got Cammy and Dudley in.

Pretty lame. Blazblue had some stuff(its how the music, emblem, and character portraits were found), but the actual character data wasn't present.

Pretty shocked if Frank is not on it at all, I thought it was fairly common to leave some junk on the disc, especially in his case since he was almost a finished character.

yeah it matters. if they're started without capcom's request, there's no reason to believe they mean anything.

The Capcom forum rep you mean?
unpaid forum moderator acting on his own, yeah that one.

You should not compare MVC2 sales to MVC3 sales and you should not compare 3rd Strike to the SF4 era.

Both HDR and MVC2 DD versions sold mainly towards the hardcore crowd. If MVC3 wants to touch SF4 levels of popularity, it needs to attract the casuals. And I have my doubts about that.

I'm a believer that the votes don't matter. It's just public stunt'n Ono style.

There's nothing to believe, it's the truth. Character lists for recent games have leaked waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before they do those kinds of community votes. They're going to put in who they want.

You are talking about SF brand. If you want to limit your scope to just SF4 then just say so.

Oh you mean people who own any console with internet hooked up.

Capcom projected MVC3 will sell at least 2 million.

For all those shopping at home, this is still half a million less than SF4's numbers. If not more so by the time SSF4 hit. By May of 2009, SF 4 sold (shipped) 2.5 million. SF4 was released in Feb of 2009.

Even Capcom does not expect this to sell as well as SF4.

Please end that argument. When even crazy ass Capcom doesn't project MvC3 to match SF4's number, neither should you.

If it happens, cool. If not, whatever.

If the Marvel licence and simpler button system don't attract teh casuals, I don't know what will lol.

People who own any console with internet hooked up do classify as hardcore. Almost 50% of all PS3s and 360s are offline. Granted, that figures over a year old, but I doubt it'd be much different now.

SF4 success is no isolated phenomenon, it stems from the old brand strength from SF2 days. And Marvel simply doesn't have that. Sure it's popular (mostly in the US) and the Marvel/Capcom characters have a lot of appeal, but will it do SF4 numbers? I doubt it.

2 million is the initial shipment, same as SFIV. Capcom has already gone on record and said they expect MVC3 to be bigger than SFIV.

Capcom's projection is 2 million within the fiscal year, 6 weeks after release.

You're looking at sf4 after 3 months.

Well, good luck to them. They love to aim high (with comical results at times). They will probably ship the shit out of it (I still have other 50 unsold copies of DR2 and LP2 rotting in my store I can't get rid of =( )

NPD will be interesting for Feb/March.

Never

Funnily enough, three of the characters on that screen made it to MvC3. (Dante, Zero and Thor).
