SF requires much stricter timing on inputs of moves, and by default MvC3 has accessibility options such as simple mode, and mechanics such as X-Factor to help out newbies. Don't get it twisted, it still is a very deep fighter with crazy amounts of technical training you can give yourself in Training mode and Mission mode, but it is also a great place to start, since it is fairly easy to get in and start doing cool shit. To quote another Gaffer "the ultimate instant gratification fighter." It will take you on a wild ride.

The mechanics are far more complicated and less intuitive than in SF4. Once you get passed that though it seems like it's more accessible and yeah, probably a lot more instant gratification here.

Someone explain to me the point of having Ryu in this game since Akuma is in it? Unless you are a total Street Fighter casual player who just loooooves Ryu, I don't know why anyone would ever want to pick him in this game.
Same reason Street Fighter has a bunch of shotos. Those characters are popular.

More accessible, but you are gonna run into some shit that's going to be tough to deal with.

Do you just mean via playing the game single player or is there something specific? Thanks!

When you encounter some of the craziness people have cooked up online even pre-release, you've got to expect to get steamrolled unless your willing to put in the time and effort to get better at the game. Same as any other game that has online really, but for fighting games the learning curve is a wee bit steeper.

...because it's a Street Fighter game? Do you really think they wouldn't put him in? Not everybody who picks up this game is a power player.
If I were to play devil's advocate, then I'd say, 'why not axe Akuma and give Ryu an Evil Ryu transformation super that gives him all of Akuma's moves?'

Or they could've just made Ryu decent. That way he would at least be worth picking even though many of his moves overlap with Akuma.

Spelled that last word wrong. URLEY

I can't decide on a team. There are too many awesome characters. MvC2 has like 20 more characters, but this game's roster blows it away.

Blocking while web swinging is cool.
It's actually cancelling out of the web swing, which is really cool. You can do it at any time by pressing any button.

I started playing Chun this morning, guess I will use her more. Definitely gonna try Ammy and Haggar too.
The more I see of Chun, the more I like her.

Get to pick up my copy tomorrow morning. Bottles will be popped.

Hypefactor Akuma is going to be another character that induces some bitter tears. He looks like a real beast.
Right now I'm wondering who else is Ryu tier. Everyone else just seems so beast in their own ways. Maybe Chris? Or is he underrated?

Chris seems to be getting it pretty similar to Spencer, just not really getting played that much yet. Captain America seems like the only one who is potentially lacking in tools like Ryu, but who knows.

Haha, up until a few days ago Chris was Haunt's favorite character.

But no, he's not Ryu-tier.

This post I just can't compute, almost half of the roster are returning characters from MvC2, and more than half if you count TvC. Unless you're strictly speaking about additions or new incarnations.

Seeing Buktooth play her, this may be the first time I attempt to main Chun in a game.

No, what he's trying to say is that even though MvC2 had more characters, MvC3's cast is way more diverse in playstyles, and looks to be much more (relatively) balanced. And I agree wholeheartedly, MvC3's cast shits on MvC2's even though MvC2 is one of my favourite games of all time.
