If it's like 80% dropped or 80% slow then yeah slow is obviously better; it would at least be consistent. But if you're just going to drop them here and there, it's much better than changing the speed slightly every once in a while. Timing is very important.Imm0rt4l said:in comparison to dropped frames...

I'd be happy to find out that it's just my PS3 Phat on its way out or something, but I've got it plugged into an Evo monitor with no processing shit on, AND it matches behavior I've seen in the 60fps footage Gamersyde's posted in the past. It's not game-killing, but you WILL notice it if you put any time into it. If you have the choice, go 360.DR2K said:I'm just saying you're an outlier.
We're imagining different scenarios. You can't time anything if the game is fluctuating between 95% and 100% speed randomly. If it's just going half speed all the time, obviously that's better than only seeing half the frames.Sixfortyfive said:As opposed to not being able to react to what's happening?

timing will be fucked in both instances, but I'd imagine it would be even more difficult to do something like a 1 frame link on a frame that isn't even there.usea said:If it's like 80% dropped or 80% slow then yeah slow is obviously better; it would at least be consistent. and xfactor levels depend on how many characters you have left
3 characters = moderate strength increase increase, slight regen, lasts for enough time to land two combos
2 characters = the 'normal' xfc, be gdlk, last for a decent time
1 character = hide ya kids hide ya wife
its the speed that fucks with me the most... people think chun is fast, wait til wolverine is in your kitchen cookin up your grits....

I don't framecount, so I wouldn't know, but every version of the game demoed has been on PS3 IIRC. Even seeing 60FPS videos with tons of action, I didn't really see any difference or dropped frames.DR2K said:I'd say players who count frames for a living would know better. Rogue's health was never an issue.MMaRsu said:What I'm trying to say is that just like Rogue, Phoenix doesn't have a lot of health, but is crazy powerful in the right hands.

The frame is there, just not displayed. You don't react to seeing a frame and then do a link; you know the timing. At least that's how I do it.Imm0rt4l said:timing will be fucked in both instances, but I'd imagine it would be even more difficult to do something like a 1 frame link on a frame that isn't even there.
MvC2 has been around, and super relevant, for 10 years. I think this game will be fine.BamYouHaveAids said:So who thinks SSF4 will be bigger than Marvel at this year's evo? I don't know, I don't see this game having the longevity of SSF4.
Soul Calibur was also relevant for years, can't wait for Soul Calibur 4 at evo this year! Just because it is a successor doesn't mean it will be received like its predecessor.Acid08 said:MvC2 has been around, and super relevant, for 10 years. I think this game will be fine.
So far:Acid08 said:Welp, Dark Phoenix lvl3 X-Factor just made another appearance on the Khaos stream. She beat all 3 characters on the other team. Insanity.

Welp..I think it's about time someone make a comparison thread.enzo_gt said:-snip-
Makes my 360 purchase with superior online and now FPS feel even sweeter! Though, LegatoB, have you checked out the 360 version as well and that's why your saying the PS3 version is worse, or are you just indicating that the PS3 version loses frames?

Who will be the next to join the leagues of temporary overpoweredness?
MvC doesn't depend on balance or those kinds of qualities in fighting games for longevity. MvC3 longevity is pretty much guaranteed depending on how much longer until they pump out MvC4.
Not really. This isn't really a bitch fight like people make in CoD comparisons and the trainwreck of a Forza vs. GT5 thread. It's all love and hype across the board.mintylurb said:Welp..I think it's about time someone make a comparison thread.

Modern fighting games have short life spans, hence the reason ST, 3s, and MVC2 still get play despite dozens of fight games being released between them. Look at KOFXlll, Blazblue, TVC, and VF5.DryEyeRelief said:lmao longeveity of ssf4. that game is a little under 3 years old.
When the sequel comes out after a 10 year wait it's going to have more hype behind it than any SC game that has been released(maybe outside of 2). This game will destroy at Evo and it will continue to for a long time.BamYouHaveAids said:Soul Calibur was also relevant for years, can't wait for Soul Calibur 4 at evo this year! Not only that but MvC3's online and DLC strategy is supposed to be as fierce as ever.hitsugi said:and has already gone through several updates.
...don't expect mvc3 to be any different in that respect, though. Capcom is all about DLC these days; no game will stick around like the old mvc2, cvs, 3s, st.. (basically every title before SF4) days.
The most fucked up thing about fighting Dark Phoenix is that she doesn't even need Level 5. If you're beating ass and she's at level 4.2 and hit her with a combo thats big enough, she'll get to level 5 on her way to hell and blow you the fuck up regardless.Sallokin said:I'd say that Dark Phoenix isn't temporarily overpowered. From what I've seen on the streams, in the right hands Level 3 Hypefactor will always be gdlk lol. It's still fun to see all the crazy complaining early on.
Also, personal peeve. If Wolvie were to actually retract those ridiculous claws they'd come out his elbows. Looks really awkward.
You're being hyper sensitive. I'm not being a naysayer, I haven't played it and don't get much time to game currently, but I'm excited about it.DryEyeRelief said:That's more of an issue of branding than anything else.

Level 3 HFC is overpowered, regardless of the character. Even HFC Ryu can blow people up.Sallokin said:I'd say that Dark Phoenix isn't temporarily overpowered.
