We talking buttons or sticks?

Buttons - I read that it is a coke/pepsi thing and personal preference is the biggest factor. Sanawa's being a tiny bit more sensitive, which can be both good and bad.

Sticks - Sanawa has a bigger throw, which people seem to prefer for fighting games. I know that when I play Ikaruga on my XBOX, I fucking with the throw on my stick wasn't so long, for sure.

EDIT - I also once read that MvC2 players always favored HAPP sticks because of how strong and fast the springs snapped back to neutral. Is this true?

I'm talking about sticks; personally, the harder spring for greater tension and resistance as well as a shorter throw and smaller deadzone make the stick more ideal for fighting games. I couldn't for the life of me play 3s with a Sanawa, dashing never felt right with that stick.

with these gamestop midnight releases, cna you just roll up and pick up a copy or do you need a preorder slip?
Pretty sure you can just show up and buy an extra copy, all of them are supposed to have more copies than preorders.

I have issues dashing on anything BUT a pad, actually. I think it might be the way I hold the stick.

(except in vs when I can just AB it, thank god)

While we are just chatting about all kinds or random stuff, can we talk about dash cancels in to another dash (wavedashing)? Can it be done during any frame of the dash or only at the very very start? I can't seem to do it if I let the dash go for any amount of time, its more just like super fast AB spam while hitting forwards forwards backwards forwards, etc...

After spending a week with the game and getting in probably 10 hours worth of local matches with a few friends...I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

I've had 4 matches of Marvel 2 in the past 10 years or so; even when it came out I never really played it, probably spent a few hours on it, instead I spent most of the time with the CvS/3s series along with other fighting games.

Infinitely more fun and enjoyable than SFIV ever was; and I didn't feel like I was missing out or somehow feeling "behind" when it came to playing the Marvel 2 vets. They had more trouble adjusting to the game than I did.

This is something I'll be playing for for a long time.

Actually, SSF4 had a TON of balance tweaks other than Sagat being nerfed, and it DID 'fix' the game. Trade DP into Ultra? GTFO. Characters with almost useless ultras? Here's a new one which provides utility. Weak character? Get buffed. Hit too hard? Get nerfed. Sagat was just the most extreme case, but the whole game was overhauled for the better and was definitely 'fixed'.

I don't play Tekken or BlazBlue or Arcana Heart, so I can't say whether SSF4 is the "most" balanced fighting game this gen like the other dude did, but after playing 1000+ hours of SF4 and then another 1000+ of SSF4 I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it is a very well balanced game, much more so than SF4, 3S or ST. There are less than five 7-3 matchups, a handful of 6-4's, and a shit ton of 5-5's in SSF4, not to mention the viability of even the "shitty" low tier characters like Deejay and Makoto, so I'm wondering what makes you think it is so imbalanced?

my shit ain't ship yet

I ain't mad though because I played.

Fuck I SUCK. I have a friend who's really good -- he even played at ComiCon. I'd like to practice on my own though.

Fuck, I had the most epic Viewtiful Joe moment. I was against Amaterasu and she did her slow time super. Then, I was able to hit SLOW on her. Then I hit SLOW again (don't know why). Right after, I hit Mach Speed and combo'd directly after it and beat her.

Fuck yeah.

Yeah, when I went for the Halo 3 one, they were instruced to sell everyone who showed up a copy, even if they had to dip into the preorders. (I guess they knew they could get a box of them from a different location if need be, we have about 100000 gamestops here in the Long Island/NYC area.)

I hate balanced fighting games. I loved Vanilla SF4 most out of the SF4 series. Loved 3rd Strike.. Loved CVS2 even though I was ass at it.

The only exception is probably VF5 but thats a different beast altogether.

edit: thanks for the info on gamestop releases. might swing thru and pick one up tonight if it doesnt come in the mail. FEINDING FOR ONLINE PLAY.

My post was in direct response to another guy. I agree with most of what you said, but at the same time if you've only played a few fighting games, then how are you going to say that SSF4 is the most balanced?

I never said it was the most imbalanced... just that it definitely isn't the most balanced. My opinion is that its not anywhere close to being the most balanced tbh, but thats because there are a lot of things in SSF4 that rub me the wrong way and it belongs in another thread.

Are you single? Come down to Long Beach tonight so we can have a nice stoner "We have no bitches to hang with on V-day MvC3 session"

You can also check out my Virtual Boy!

Stay free haunts, I don't need a website to get a review copy.

OlwOx.jpg

I don't have an xbox 360

I don't know what time to show up tonight at the midnight thing, anyone have experience with the crowds? I'm sure there will be less people there than say the Halo 3 midnight launch but hopefully there will be a good amount. I don't want them selling my CE to someone earlier in line, doesn't seem like preorders are super safe.

Sorry to spam the thread, but I have so many questions, and you guys are cool and on my level, while SRK seems to ignore me.

If I hit a tatsu right off the bat with Akuma (my point) I should always combo into "super laser beam in your face", right? Or is it worth it to get a nice meter bank going, for a more brutal combo, that he won't be able to switch out and recover the red on.

Also - Do assist characters take more damage then they normally would, when they get tagged? It just seems like they get WRECKED.

Depends on what you're going for. Like if you have Phoenix on your team you'll probably want to do meter building combos for when you bring her out later. Really depends on whatever tactics you're going for, this game has insane options.

Assist characters do get fucking ROCKED when hit.

I played it urley at Best Buy.

This game... is fast. Not sure if I'll be able to keep up. o_o

XF3 Dark Phoenix = hide yo wife, hide yo kids...

Going from East Coast to West Coast for weed, Mahvel and Virtual Boy? Only a crazy man would want to attempt that.

I am pretty insane, but thanks for the offer.

Damn it, Capcom store. SHIP... =( I'm also tempted to buy the strategy book. It's only 11 USD...

No midnight releases here, fucking bogus small town.

I feel you, man.

They told me they'd have it for sale the instant they open tomorrow though, thankfully. When Vanilla SF4 came out it was a nightmare, I had to wait like two or three days after release for it due to late shipping.

About Akuma after tatsu > up to you. Build meter or do damage through a combo and hyper finish - depends on your playstyle. But because shit gets so crazy in this game, I usually just do the damage that I can when I can and try and dictate the flow of the match early. Meter isn't so hard to get where you have to change your entire approach to the game (unless you want to get into some level 3 shit early).

Assists do get absolutely wrecked though.

Amazon has shipped, 14 hours to go.

Come to me, my CE steelbook. Come, come to me unholy DLC characters! COME TO ME, PURPLE TEAR MILKING MACHINE OH YE SENTINEL OF SORROW. Come and crash theyself upon the shores of my twin customized TE sticks, dolby digital surround system, and large flat panel display.

Oh yeh and the strategy guide is comin' too cool huh bros.

So I'm not huge into fighting games but Amazon is sending me my copy and I'd like to get a fighting stick as well. Are they still really expensive and which one should I be looking for?

Thanks for any help.

You don't need a stick.

Play the game before you buy a stick.

I did not even know Long Beach, LI even existed. LOL. I'm from Queens. The most I've been in Long Island has been Green Acres Mall in Nassau, and that's just about the most I know of LI even if Nassau isn't that east.

Why would I reply to a post made here, in the SF4 thread? Especially since I know he doesn't ever post there? I don't think a small tangent on a related subject is really going to hurt this thread, do you?

The quote I replied to clearly said that SSF4 didn't 'fix' the problems with Vanilla despite Sagat being nerfed, and that SSF4 hadn't been balanced. I was intentionally not comparing it to other fighting games, I was looking at the game by itself and wondering what constitutes imbalance if SSF4 is an example of it.

No harm, no foul. Back to dat Mahvel.

Wesker is strong as fuck but his whole teleport crap is just confusing. And I hate the fact that one can't teleport and continue on the combo (from what I've tried).

Wesker's teleports can definitely be a part of the combo... I don't main him, but Max put up some vids earlier that made me feel small.
