Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds |OT| - Ya down with OTG? Yeah, you know me!

Yeah, the online really, REALLY needs patched. It's fun enough with a group of friends, but the lack of Spectator mode and Ranked's general shittyness (I've still never managed to connect to an opponent) really hurts the overall experience. The fact that the game has to stop and load after every failed attempt to connect in Ranked is especially annoying. I was really expecting a lot more from MvC3's online given how good SSFIV's was.

Also, yeah, VS CPU needs patched in BADLY.

Amazing game, absolutely awful UI.

Am I crazy that I find it way easier to do most of my motions on the stick instead of the d-pad?
No, not at all. Its just that every new fighting game brings about a stick craze and a lot of people run off to buy a stick that they'll use for maybe 2 months then they quit the game once they find out that their performance didn't suddenly become godlike.

The "Press Y to get ready" thing annoys me the most. Most of my friends who were first starting playing (and me included) kept sitting there waiting to go next.

Am I crazy that I find it way easier to do most of my motions on the stick instead of the d-pad? But I can't dash well with the stick for some reason. I guess it's just going to take a lot of practice, I haven't really found anyone I like besides X-23, and that's not even for sure. :O

When I used to use my 360 controllers, the DPad was always better for dashing and DP motions, and the analog stick was always better for QCF motions so I was constantly switching between them.

Honestly though I just couldn't do stuff fast enough with a standard controller no matter how much I practiced, and it hurt the hell out of my thumb after about an hour. The shoulder buttons were also a pain to use in combos IMO. Considering the boom in fighters this gen, buying the TE stick was one of my better gaming decisions.

EDIT: Wait, did you mean stick as "analog", or "arcade?" My response was for "analog."

X-Factor sentinel is disgusting. I figured he was going to be OP as soon as I saw his announcement videos, but X-Factor takes him to another level. Dante is pretty out there too.

I meant analog, but using sticks at arcades I have no problems dashing. It's just using analog I can't double tap well, but I do all the QCF and Shoryuken motions way better. The shoulder buttons aren't as bad because they're assists but I find it hard to hit buttons consecutively with just one finger though when I'm comboing.

What are you trying to link together?
I just meant in general, when I watch my input, it's very sloppy because I either don't do it fast enough or I just doing the wrong motions. I think I just need a lot more practice, but one of the X-23 missions I had to knock the person down, use an OTG and then x-factor then doing a standing m into an air combo, couldn't link at the x-factor to standing m part at all.

So I had some fun today, but I really suck. I would not have fun online the way I'm currently playing. I need to get a stick to cause analog stick aint cutting it.

so is it official that Ranked Quick Matches are broken? I haven't read any posts here that say otherwise.

Its seems the ONLY way to get Ranked Matches is going into offline arcade mode and waiting for challengers?

I have no idea how some people can pull off combos so easily during lag. :( I'm getting butchered here.

I just tried out christ and holy shit is he a beast. This guy is going to put the work on the little weenies online!

That post made me ponder what moveset Jesus would have in a game like this.

That was one of my biggest issues. Using just my thumbs killed speed.

woo won two matches in a row against the same guy. He was zoning the shit out of me with doom. I keep forgetting to block in this game :lol

That shit just pisses me off. People do that with Iron Man as well.

Yeah I kinda fall under that category. I just got a couple of TvC Arcade sticks a couple weeks ago and have been playing TvC as practice. I went into it knowing I wouldn't become miraculously better, but I was surprised how hard it is to adjust. It's like playing online with a little lag. It throws you off. I still can't do Shoryuken motions correctly, especially in an Air combo. But I do like having the buttons spread out. Polymar's Drill super is A LOT easier to pull off and it's kinda nice to actually be able to press 2 attack buttons for supers as opposed to just using an All Attack Buttons Macro.

You should really be using two attack buttons to dash in this game, so once you get used to that you'll have no problems at all!

This is what I've been doing. It's much faster and I usually find a player within the first 5 seconds arcade mode starts.

Yeah I was looking at that, I'll try doing that so I can just stick to using the analog. Also, when people block low, I need to hit them with an overhead to break it?

I think my other big problem is as soon as I connect with anything, I just basically mash buttons for damage. I just get excited that I'm actually hitting them, I don't know how to stay calm and do some combos. I have like no restraint, so awesome. :P But yes, practice all day, I'll have all of reading week, woot. ;)

Yeah, overhead beats crouching block.

After spending some time in training mode with 3/4 of the cast I can see an extremely varied number of teams for high level play. I haven't seen anyone at a terrible disadvantage yet.

They really outdid themselves with the gameplay on this one.

I didn't notice that haha. I meant I was using Chris. The guy has ridiculous stamina and he can combo into his hypers easy as pie. He is going to do tons of work.

I'd imagine that Chris's moveset would make Phoenix blush with envy. :P

Fake edit: Just tried ranked again and nada.

*sighs...*

You know I learned this lesson in SF4 but I bought into the hype about this being easier on the inputs then SFIV.

I just don't have the hand dexterity to pull this stuff off, I get stuck on every single characters mission mode as soon as it asks me to do a cancel, I just can't do it.

Have a TE and thinking of rocking this layout...

A1 - - A2
L M H S

...or vice versa, whichever is more comfortable; though my concern with having assists on bottom is accidentally sliding across and activating while doing (read: mashing out) attacks.

I actually hit the PS button a lot because my thumb slides off the stick, it's funny but sad at the same time. :(
Ew, no. Use the pad!

There aren't any HCB or 720s in this game, you should be fine on the pad. The bruises on your thumbs are proof that you're getting better!

I flub combos so easily, some reason Leilei likes to fly past my opponent when following the launch. Also flub Shehulk's OTG->Super.

THANK GOD for simple mode!!! Now my wife can enjoy the game with me, she always hated fighters becsue of the combo system and now she can button mash to her hearts content and give me a run for my money and have a blast :)

Thank you Capcom for this mode. Wife loves MvC3 becasue of it, maybe she will want to learn NORMAL mode down the road but for now she cant get enough. Her team is Wolverine,Deadpool and X-23

ARGH

I still haven't decided on a main team!

I need some good suggestions, I'll take ANYTHING right now and see how the dynamic feels.

Doom (best assist man in the game if nothing else), Chris (iron chin, can spam it up with the best of em, NADES and dat mag), X-23 (stylin on em)

Team DCX

DCX

I really don't understand the need for me to go to arcade mode / training mode, to be able to connect with people, instead of just clicking the buttons for them. Clearly, something isn't right...smh. That's been the only way I found matches tonight.

I think I'm going to try and learn doom now. Hidden Missiles and his beam assist are to beastly.

It's a new attribute. You don't play fps on a controller after years of using a mouse and expect to beat people that have been doing it for years or vice versa, it takes time. If you play and practice you will probably have it down in a week.

I really don't want to buy a new 360, but MARVEL, I'm conflicted.

for those having xbl issues, try this, its been working perfectly for me so far:

custom games -> set language to English

10-17. Hoooooo boy.

I need to swap my team around. I love Hsien-Ko but she's a little too immobile for my taste. She's got the best assist, but the moment she's in you can run circles around the poor girl.

Im having trouble working with Hsien-ko too but im not dropping her. Im gonna figure her out.

Teamed up with Super Skrull and Viper

Oh sheeit son.

Shout out to Scrub-GAF should have this game by the end of the week, that is if monies are available, food comes first, gotta stay alive and all that. Hope to see ya'll soon.

Oh man, this game. It's more beautiful than I could ever have imagined.

Played for the better part of eight hours with a couple of breaks, and just had my first few matches online. Of course I killed in unranked and then got the beats in ranked, but every single second of play drips with sweet magnificence.

Sure it's a bit barebones, but MvC3 is bringing me pure, unadulterated joy.

Current favourites are Dante, X-23, Deadpool, Taskmaster, Super Skrull and Chun Li; and my biggest surprise was She Hulk. But I've barely scratched the surface of this game...

tl;dr: How awesome is MvC3? So awesome

It's kinda whack though cause I noticed those two names in the DLC character voting threads on Capcom Unity and GAF.

So there goes two wasted votes for those who voted for them.

I am god awful at this game but I am enjoying the hell out of it

More people really need to give Haggar a chance. His lariat is absolutely monstrous.

I didn't vote for Frank since I figured he's a lock. Felt like I was going out on a limb voting for Doc Ock. If he's actually in then I'd be very happy. I think he could end up being a unique character.
