I've not picked up a guide in years. But I grabbed this one (hopefully it will be in soon). It's 400 pages, really detailed and is just 11.50 on Amazon. That's worth it to me just so that when I take it over to a house to play with friends we all have an easy way to look up moves and basic tactics without having to hit up a wiki online or something. Plus the frame data is all included which is nice for getting into the combo lab.

Eh it's not so bad. The menu is defaulted to "Mission Objective" when you hit pause so it's just two button presses instead of one. To be honest once you learn what your moves are it isn't even really necessary.

No dlc or anything.

It's just a really solid guide, one of the est guides I've ever seen. It really goes in depth with everycharcter and has basic->advanced tactics and combos.

Plus it was also written by Buktooth, who is a top player and also friend of Joekage and Farms who post here. so a lot of people are buying it just to show support.

I agree but his lack of xfactoring was actually upsetting lol.

He's really good. His rocket punches only go half screen at most though. One of his nerfs
 
Is there a listing of the command moves anywhere? The command list doesn't include anything that's not a special move or a hyper combo.

I thought the same thing, I was expecting an X-Factor in the first couple of matches against Nelson, and it never came.

Bought it lastnight and yes it's very very very detailed. From novice to super pro lol. Crazy awesome!!

Oh sweet! I'm glad I ordered it then. Can't wait to get it and hopefully stop sucking.

Shoryuken on my Ipad is how I roll. The damn thing has replaced almost every form of printed material in my home aside from junk mail and bills ;).
 
After sanford was talking all that noise about chris being a zoing beast i tried to pick up chris but as a character he is definitely far from smooth. I like placing mines on wakeup but I suck at comboing anything with him.

Doom and Haggar are my second and 3rd. I think I may put doom in as 1 and if i can learn chris he will be second with haggar in 3rd.

Haggar's lariat assist is godlike.

You guys shouldn't worry about team 'synergy' starting off.

Especially at the early stages of the game, it's really an experimentation/trial and error thing.

IMO, settle on a point character. (the first character that appears on field) Then go from there.

Loving the game so far, pretty easy to get into.

At the moment I'm using Wolverine, Chun Li and Ameratsu as my main team but I like Super Skrull so I might stick him in for Wolverine.

Also I've played 1 match on Xbox Live so far and I won so I don't think I'll ever touch online again so my 100% win record stays intact :P

Hahaaha, that's pretty funny. If I'm getting spammed by projectiles and I end up losing I do get annoyed and frustrated. But it's more at myself for not being good enough to counter that tactic. I do believe that my losses come from my own lack of skill no matter what my opponent is doing. So I find it pretty amusing when people rage so much and send hate mail like that.

But I'd totally love to see more of the hate messages that people are getting.

Assist get eaten up big time in this game. You feel like crap because you hit that button at the wrong time and blam 3/4 life.

Personally i need to work on assist setups so I can be a lot safer. For example , I like chris's mine assist on wakeup or when someone is about to be forced in after a character died. Some nice traps come from this.

Talking about assists, I was trying the challenges that require assists in the combo. I must be doing something wrong cause the assist never continues the combo. I mean you can't call while attacking, and they usually take forever to come out... how the hell do you do that.
 
I really like using Zero's DP assist when "shadowed" I start with zero on point, wait till its safe, activate shadow, and then tag in akuma. Its really dope.

(I got this idea from the FADC video, it works great)

I started getting messages like that last night too, LOL. One guy called me a "stupid-spamming noob" after I took out his entire team with Storm or Arthur; forget which one it was, but he would try to get into a fireball war with me and lose, or just keep jumping forward right into my projectiles when he had Felicia out.

I notice that a lot of people I play also never super-jump or push-block, so I take complete advantage of that. People get really ticked when they try jumping over Arhtur's projectile super, only to find that Arthur can jump up while doing it!
 
Is hate mail more of a 360 thing or something? In all the fighters I've played on the PS3, I've never once gotten any sort of hate mail, and I've played thousands of matches between SSFIV, MvC3, BBCS, and Tekken 6.

On the topic of spamming... does anybody have tips for how to deal with it in this game? I'm still not that great at this game yet.

Say for example, if somebody like Arthur is projectiling the crap out of me from across screen, how do I get out of that mess before I get chipped to death?

I've received hate mail in SSFIV on PS3. I tend to do the opposite, I'll actually send out mail to players who play well.

No clue. here's tons of stuff I'm scratching my head over. Trish double jump mission #7, or doing a mission where it all combos, but it doesn't count for clearing it. I dont get it.

Super jump, or get a character that can teleport close to them.
