Man how did I know you would gravitate to the cheap, fast, mixup heavy assholes like Spiderman, Mags, & X-23. :P

I'm just mucking around in mission mode for the most part, but when I get to the part where they want me to do air dash combos with Magneto, or Spidey's advanced shit, my fingers and brain decide to stop cooperating and I sink into a slight depression. I don't think there is a character in the game that can cover up my lack of execution and defense like Sim can. :(

Getting myself up to scratch is going to be a looooooooooooong and painful process. >:|

Did anyone have trouble entering their Jill and Shuma code? Every time I enter the code, a message appears telling me it may not be correct or is no longer valid.

This is on PSN, trying it via the redeem code section of account management.
DLC Code is not valid until March 15th

fuck you only have to press up to double jump in the air?!?@?!@!

This is why I need to study this game before I go online, went 3 - 8 last night :(

WHERES MY STRATEGY GUIDE?@?!
Yes. Yes, he is.

I'm determined to be good with him though.

God, anyone remember Xmen v Street Fighter? I think that was the first time they had the tag-team idea. My team used to be wolverine, gambit, and ryu. That game was the first hit of my addiction.

Makes me happy to see wolverine get the kind of love he is getting. Ryu I could care less about, but I really want to see Gambit make it into this game. Bo staff+let it shine would make me jizz.

Prolly pick this game up today.

Oh I learned something new.... task can call in assist during swings.... MUWAHAHAAHA

Did some serious lab work last night. I Figured that out too. Mighty Swing + Hsien Ko's super armored Senpu Bu = SEX. Plus, excluding X Factor, his swing always does chip too.

Plus, I figured out how to angle his Legion Arrow. Thank you SRK Hyper Guide :)

Please God say someone recorded yesterday's levelup stream. I need to see some Justin Wong Wolverine,Clockwork Phoenix, FLoe Haggar, and Clakey D X23 Tron MOrrigan.

Any clips....anything.

Especially Haggar laying the pipe.

Tell me about it, I think I get too excited when playing as him though and in general.

Need to get my execution down.

Works out really well in my head, real time though is another story.

:(

I've been crazy busy, so not much time to play yet. But I will say gameplay is great, but having not played TVC, I feel lost trying to get my brain rewired from MVC2. I know what i want to do, but my fingers aren't listening yet.

Still GOTF and all. I now understand what people meant when they said, "until you play in person, you have no idea what it actually looks like." I'm way more impressed with it graphically now that I see it in person.

Sad that Galactus has that lame death scene even on hardest. Maybe that'll be DLC too, a real final form.

Well, that's basically me in general. I have to say I wasn't prepared at all for how fast pace this game is. I'm still trying to get used to blocking in real time much less executing my offensive strategy.

I humbly ask the GAF-MvC3 community: would someone be willing to personally help me out tonight?

I'm pretty decent with combos (especially those easy-ass air combos) and I'm generally familiar with the ins-and-outs of the game and a few advanced techniques. However, after a night of playing online, I realized I have absolutely no approach game AT ALL.

I keep getting my ass handed to me because of that. I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me out a bit.

I've tried that and it still doesn't work.

I think it depends on where it needs to hit. I did one of Wesker's assist combos where I think the combo was jump S, cr. m, cr. h, assist 1. I just hit cr. m and assist 1 together. That way cr. h and assist 1 hit together. Try hitting assist together with some of the buttons in the combo, or try hitting it before you even begin the combo.

In mvc2 i use to play scrubby ass matrix team. After seeing clockwork working on his mvc3 team i might have to bite his strats. I love me some lockdown chip pressure. Strider/ doom /sent in mvc2 was not a high barrier to entry. Being good was hard but playing decent was not.

Truth of the matter is VF is a great game but its substance over flash and the peons cant handle it. Also, I am the worst at that game. Got damn I am bad.

which characters do you use?

Man, catching up on the, I dunno, 600 or so posts, it seems I missed a hell of a show with Justin and crew, and guess what, Level Up didn't archive it - they better put it up on YouTube damnit.

But yes, Wolverine is the business - think I mentioned it before, but a friend of mine mains him and X-23, too deadly...

I meant those were the peeps that made up my core group. Wolverine and then either Ryu/Gambit.

And I'm voting the shit out of Gambit. Get him in the game!

What's so great about a crappy card throwing version of akuma?

Is that Level Up stream that everyone was talking about going to be archived? I'm not too familiar with their streams, so I don't know if archiving in their M.O. or not.

This is just service announcement. I may be late to the part but the direction you do an air exchange with changes the amount of meter you get. Now I see why mike ross was abusing exchanges left and right. You can get 2 full bars with one full team air exchange.
Is there any actual benefit to doing an exchange up or left/right instead of down? Is it easier to continue the combo or give you any type of advantage over exchange down?

Hey SRK,
Krisan Thyme and I are back again to give you guys an idea what's on the disc pertaining to Shuma-Gorath. Krisan Thyme, using the same techniques as he did previously to get Jill Valentine working, replaced M.O.D.O.K. with Shuma-Gorath. You can see this in the images we'll link further on. He's basically the Shuma-Gorath we all know and love. He plays very similar to before but with some new tools to fit in with the MvC 3 roster. All his resources on the disc such as model, animation, textures, and audio are all present. He is essentially a complete character. Krisan is letting me deal with the write-up this time.

Before I link you guys to the images showing him being playable, we would like to make sure the facts and speculations about the stuff on MvC 3 disc are made clear.

FACTS
- Jill is an incomplete character that is only really missing a big handful of audio samples such as the tag-in voices and hopefully what we assume is some character balance. Also a good portion of her system data is actually missing.
- Shuma-Gorath is essentially complete and is 100% playable and all his resources are on the disc. Mission data is complete and accounted for on the disc but at the time we did not access it.
- Aside from the final roster and Jill and Shuma-Gorath, NO OTHER CHARACTERS OR CHARACTER RESOURCES EXIST ON THE DISC. There are references of Frank West and Dr. Octopus found in the boot executable but NONE OF THEIR MODELS, ANIMATIONS, TEXTURES, SOUNDS, ARTWORK EXIST ON THE DISC. NONE. ALL GONE. We know Frank West has been said to be canned many times. As for Dr. Octopus, we will come back to that in a bit.
- DLC Outfits exist on the disc for the following: Ryu, Akuma, Chris, Wesker, Dante, Captain America, Iron-Man, Thor, Dr. Doom, and Dormammu. The characters Capcom have shown so far in the launch trailer have their DLC Outfits completely on the disc. The other characters mentioned that have DLC Outfits that have not been shown are INCOMPLETE and unusable. The way the complete DLC outfits are packed make it tricky to access in a reasonable time so we will leave these alone.
- The entire roster is numbered from 01-41 all over the disc. 01-20 refer to Capcom characters and 21-41 refer to Marvel characters. Frank West is 09, Jill Valentine is 20, Shuma-Gorath is 32, Doctor Octopus is 40, and Galactus is 41. Again Frank West and Doctor Octopus have their resources completely stripped from the disc so it is impossible for us to make them playable. Why is that important? Well that leads to some unconfirmed speculation. Considering everything that has been talked about so far by Capcom and what we've seen on the disc, there is reason to believe that Frank West and Shuma-Gorath were intended to make the final cut of the roster and Jill Valentine and Doctor Octopus were on the drawing board late in development. Why do we think this is a possibility? Here's our reasoning. The following is just our speculation and should not be regarded as truth in the slightest.

SPECULATION
Frank West and Shuma-Gorath's numbers are right in the middle of their respective sides while Jill Valentine and Doctor Octopus are the last numbered on each of their sides. We've been told by Capcom that Frank West was canned at the last minute due to technical reasons. Shuma-Gorath was a Marvel character pushed by Capcom while Marvel was reluctant so he may have been pushed to the sidelines even after he was completed and was only mutually agreed upon to be included the last minute if he was paired up with a Capcom counterpart. It is possible Jill was taken from being a post-release character and was pushed to be part of the final roster with Shuma but time constraints did not allow for it so Shuma and Jill are now DLC. This would explain why Shuma-Gorath is complete while Jill is not. This leaves Doctor Octopus as the last man standing without a Capcom counterpart. He was either a totally scrapped idea or possibly currently a work in progress for future DLC. We just don't have enough information on Doctor Octopus to make any assumptions. All we can say with certainty is that he was part of the entire development process at one point and that none of his game resources are available on the disc.

We know that this might have been a bother to some but we are just curious gamers looking for some answers. We won't show any video of Jill or Shuma as we'll leave that for Capcom to do when they want to formally reveal them. :)

As for now, Krisan is done digging through the disc. To get this information and share it with the rest of you, we've had to use some questionable means. With nothing much else left on the disc for us to look at and test, we have decided to move on from playing around with the disc's contents on jailbroken systems to playing the game online with the rest of the world because we value that much more. From what we have seen hidden away on the disc, we support Capcom's hard work and we hope you all partake in getting the DLC characters. They're great characters that add more to an already uniquely diverse roster and we look forward to future characters to come. We'll be buying and so should you.

Finally the Shuma images I took can be found here: http://www.global-trance.com/mvc3shuma

It was fun using Jill and Shuma-Gorath for the time being but we're going to give them up for now. We'll see you guys online!

Here is my guess. They usually archive stuff but they did not post the archive from last night. I'm guessing they want to bank on youtube ad hits etc so they are holding off on posting the ustream archive.

well, if you keep doing down-S the other person will start to counter it

Paying for unlock codes? Capcom on blast.
We all know the Shuma story (mentioned in the quote) though. Capcom wanted him in, Marvel objected, they compromised and made him DLC along with Jill.

As far the costumes, most of the alternate costumes for the cast aren't on the disc.

If you ALWAYS do down wouldn't it be trivially easy for people to break (100% chance instead of 30% chance)

I've now got 50% of the trophies, but did anyone get "Charles in Charge"? I can't seem to get it...

Also, is there any use for player points? (other than unlocking characters)
