This was the flavor of the day in all black/grey today, and it was wrecking house even though I don't have everything 100% down yet - Doom is the only hole in the team being the only one I can't OTG into super right away with, but I do that from launcher into super just fine.

And shit, his win quotes are just so boss - "The applause for Doom begins now - the first to stop dies" or something to that effect is my favorite so far.

I don't wanna say I'm dropping SHe-Hulk completely, but her run move has to have a faster way to be done, and the run-grab thing only lasts so long until enemies just end jumping for the majority of the match - I'm so out of touch with playing her that I forget to use her anti-air super for those kind of people, but yeah.

For doom I like triangle jump-> M->M -> Cr. L -> Cr. L -> Cr. M -> S(follow them up) ->M-> M --> Forward air dash -> M ->M-> beam-> Super

I am scrubby as hell but for some reason I can pull this off.

I really want to learn buktooth's follow them down to the ground with air dive and relaunch combo but I think my execution is not strong enough.

. The networking is god awful.

they've some how managed to make it bad in every way. who wants to go into 4+ player lobbies when only 2 can play at a time, not even spectating either instead you get to watch bars go down. looking for a player/ranked match? failed to connect->loading-> menu. do the fight request thing?
*pick characters *
*here comes a new challenger*
*pick characters AGAIN*
*play match(es)*
*exit match*
*get taken back to character select screen*

considering fight request finds you a match almost immediately i find it redundant to have me choose characters again and having an option to maybe you know continue what i was doing before I found a new challenger would be nice instead of being taken back to character select.

also 8- 15 ranked , need to get better.

I treat the health bars in lobbies as a meta game.

You sit there trying to figure out what's happening in the match. "Oooh, okay so that bar is going down now... so he tagged in." "Wait, he's recovering life, he just Xfactored..... there goes his opponents health" "Oh pheonix just dark phoenixed.... xfactored too"

Good week.

MVC3 360 ver. CE - $68 after tax+shipping from Capcom Store
MVC3 PS3 reg - $60+tax early leak purchase
MVC3 Guide - $12 off Amazon

Anyone else notice that when you don't find a ranked match, sometimes it sends you to the Xbox Live menu, and sometimes it sends you to the main menu? What the hell?

OK some of these missions are super unfair

I get SFIV and SSFIV that you want to give the player a challenge

This is MvsC3, your trying to grab that core/casual market, for fun, and these missions feel like work, not fun things you want to learn, try and add in to your repertoire, to be a better player

Wolverine mission #5 was L, M, L, H, S, (Air) M, M, H, S, took me 15 minutes just to memorize the combo route
(I shudder what Mission #10 is)

Then to perform it took another 15-30 minutes, then I thought I got the hang of it, went into an Arcade game, tried 3-5 times on very hard difficulty characters, either I was blocked and punished for it, or got 1/3 of the way there, but 1 button didn't connect, so it was stupid

I just played my style of either keep away or try to get burst shots in, 3-4 juicy combo's that really help you out

Computers aren't the best practice for getting practical combos off though. Their reaction times are godlike and they rarely ever miss a punish. When you play actual people, it's a lot easier to cross up and they won't be constantly throwing you.

Its a feature not a bug

The timings in this game are giving me a hard time lately... Everyone's cancels seem to be a little different. Going from X-23 to Chris is making my body rebel.

On one hand, I appreciate Capcom squeezing in as many characters as they possibly could. I know they were looking at 30+ with their initial announcement, but early reports sounded conservative like they were going to be in the low 30s. A roster of 36 total with 2 more DLC right around the corner is very nice, especially considering these characters feel a lot more complete and full-featured compared to some of MvC2's characters.

On the other hand, this game feels very much incomplete in a lot of ways. No spectator mode makes lobby play virtually unusable for me and many others. No kick option, bad matchmaking combined with kicking you back out a menu every time it can't connect, and no option for rematches in ranked games...all very head-scratching. Piss poor menus and presentation, awful endings, no replay saving in multiplayer, and a noticeable lack of stages...

...the game is definitely lacking in a lot of ways that you would think would be standard after SSF4 established them. I know some people are salty about it, but if a SMvC3 could fix all these flaws, I'll happily trade in MvC3 and drop another $40 because I know I'll get years and years of play time out of it.

I know Capcom wants to bend us over financially, but I'd rather them do it quick with a one-time $40 purchase instead of drawing it out over months (years?) with one $5 piece of DLC after another.

I was trying chris for first time today, and I like his gamestyle. I need to learn how to fight close range too.

Don't hate me :(
Before the Sanford vid, I never used Chris for zoning. The tools have always been there, but I never considered it a forte.

If you can back someone into a corner with him: H > f.H > QCB+H > QCF+H > shenanigans is money. His standing heavy is pretty fast has decent reach.

Yup, I use a variation of that as well, fun combo to do especially with Sent assist - I wish he had a combo that could OTG straight into super, but that would make Doom a bit TOO strong... haha

I was messing around with a relaunch with Foot Dive, but it's a must that you air dash afterwards or else you bounce back way too far - I haven't seen Buk's combo but I'm sure it involves that...

Speaking of Buk, I hope that guide finally comes in tomorrow - it'll be so much easier coming up with another team by flipping through pages with so much detailed info.

Is it wrong that im in the lab with Cap whilst listening to James Brown's 'Living in America'? Cause if it is i dont wanna be right

So I've decided to main with Dante, and basically rotate through Morrigan, Zero, Ryu, Wolverine, Iron Man, Phoenix, and Deadpool around him.

I'm really enjoying the game, but the sheer frenzy of the action puts it a little outside my wheelhouse. I don't really expect to ever get great at it, simply because I find it really hard to figure out what is going on sometimes, let alone what I'm doing wrong.

I don't think I'll still be coming back to this game years down the road the same way I do VF5, and expect to with with SSF4.

But it's great that the fighting genre is coming back like this and providing so many different looks and playstyles for different gamers. :D

Capcom programmers don't know how to throw or catch exceptions very well. The former is for when you are set as host and the connection fails (unable to connect) and the latter is for when you aren't the host and the connection fails (host has d/ced). Why doesn't it just search for another connection? Who the hell knows.

Damn the mission mode is harder than SSF4. I have no problem with links in SF but the MVC3 combos (kind of like target combos in SF) is killing me. My fingers just can't move that fast :(
Just to make it harder, if you do an extra move, it will count as a fail. In SF4 you could sneak in as many moves as you want as long as you did the ones required.

EDIT - sounds about right bistromathics, that explains the "randomness"

Had the same problem, I chose my team based on similar motions for specials and supers and the general similarity of the inputs for combos (including timings)... otherwise good luck getting a team ready before 2012...

Seriously. I mean WHAT THE FUCK? Why was there NO collaboration b/t team S/SF4 and team MVC3? There is so much head-scratchingly fucked up stuff in this game. Thankfully most of it doesn't affect the actual gameplay.

Speaking of challenges, I'm stuck on Shehulk's final one. It wouldn't be so bad if the combo itself wasn't so retarded in it's practicality.

To everyone that got screwed over by the Capcom store, read this:

http://www.capcom-unity.com/jgonzo/...from_the_capcom_store_re:_marvel_vs._capcom_3

The Capcom Store is a great place to find exclusive pre-order items and great deals on Capcom products. We go to a lot of effort to offer cool and unique items at fare prices that you can't get anywhere else. We are, at heart, a fan service.

We also pride ourselves in our customer service. This past week, something that was beyond our control occurred and it affected the shipping of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 for some of our customers. 83% of orders were unaffected and shipped out on time. Unfortunately 17% did not and on a game launch of this size, that is not insignificant. We've been reading your messages and listening to you on the forums.

We want to convey to you that your business is important to us and that we appreciate you as fans and as customers. With that being said, we are working on some fantastic ideas to help compensate the customers whose orders were affected by this shipping incident. The details of this will be revealed soon, but know that it will be something worthwhile.

Thanks again for shopping with the Capcom Store. Please don’t let this experience dissuade you from ordering some of the great products and pre-order bonuses that we have planned for in the future.

How does one do Dante's Devil Trigger. I understand the movements, but then it has something called double attack? Which button is that?

Press two attack buttons at the same time

Yup, the instant an extra button is hit, it's over, even if the whole thing still combos.

What I really hate is when you a long ass combo to the end, and because it scrolls without changing color unlike what SFIV wisely did, you won't know where you messed up the first few times.

does anyone have any advice on dealing with keep away and beam spam teams?
Get someone who closes the distance quickly, or spam back. I.E, Super Skrull or anyone with excellent mobility. :P If you don't want to change teams though, you'll need to mix up your rushdown. Jump, airdash, then ground dash, jump, air-dash, basically force them to anticipate where you're going.

I'm trying to put a team together and it's hard with so many choices. I want to use She-Hulk, but I'm not sure who to team her up with. I want someone who is good at zoning/projectiles and who has an assist that'd get people to jump at She-Hulk and I've narrowed it down to either Trish or Arthur. Then I want a more middle of the road rush down type character, and I'm thinking either Viewtiful Joe, X-23 or Deadpool.

Any advice on a good team made up of those elements and characters?

Learn to block, understand timing between attacks, superjump is your friend, know your air dash properties, understand that you will be hit sometimes - and its just a matter of making that hit as irrelevant as possible, going over isn't always the only way in, use your assists well - some people negate projectiles almost entirely, being smart > being patient.

Yup, just like how versatile MT Framework is, they should also have an additional system running for Online play that's universal in all their future fighters if possible. One thing I do like with MvC3 though is that you're able to rematch as much as you want in player matches without going back to the lobby or select screen. I wish SSF4 had that
Except you can't do this at all if you create a lobby. Only in quick-match.

how do you play this game? i can't even make it to the final boss.
i think i got to the 7th stage, the enemy gets so tough they do more combo than me, they combo into super, they force me switch to my low health character, and they block every attack I do.

EDIT: this is my first Marvel vs game. never played any fighting game this fast

lol it seems to be a consensus that outside of the gameplay, this game is a barebones mess. Maybe they should have waited until April/May

He was right about sentinel too. Dude's not hard to learn and having a competent sent in your group will improve your team's play significantly...

I think he posted that to trick people into using Sentinel so he could destroy them last night.

Are those videos up yet? I missed the last few games.

Would we be happier if the game came out in April with spectating and better online infrastructure or are we happier that it came out months earlier so we can play it? :P

Also... he made sentinel look free. Before, a flying sent would've meant death from above to anyone but dude proved that air throws cause cancer.

Depends if they patch it I guess?

Ugh, online. Why must you be this broken. I find the good games and people leave after losing once. I don't give a fuck about win/lose stats. I just want to play. :(
