Play arcade mode, turn on fight requests, set to ranked and you'll get a new challenger the first few seconds you start a match.

Go to Arcade and turn Fight Request on. At least that's what others have said here, haven't tried myself.

edit: Beaten on the same minute!

Hmmm. Where do you live? How fast is your connection? Are you on PS3 or 360 ? Is this the first game you've had online issues with? (Lag, dropped connections, horrible match making waits...and I mean frequently. We all get bad moments like this here and there, but do you have them as a more frequent thing you deal with in online gaming?)

I'd say this is a case by case basis, I play solely on wifi/wireless and lag has hardly been an issue, especially when using fight request. Even matchmaking (outside of ranked...) has been lag or issue free for myself which is insane considering my lackluster connection speed.
 
GGs to Q, sorry you had to fight me before I even know my character's moves, I've only been able to play the game for a few hours and I've only really played arcade mode and missions.

I really want to play keepaway, but I get lost in dormammu's movement right now and I get confused really easily.

I've never even played Iron Man or Magneto, and the only time I used wesker in a fight was at the gamespot tournament, but I did better with them than Dorm and Phoenix :/

Well, I just wanted to get used to the game against a moving target anyway, I don't have any strategies or anything beyond very loose ideas right now. Thanks for playing with me.
 
I spent a few hours getting the best Haggar combos I can find down, managed to get around 600 damage (dependant on what starts it and where it happens) and 4 pipe hits. Spent 5 minutes for the first time with Sent, found his equivalent and can pull it off 100% of the time already...

Her standing M is godlike, ABUSE IT!! It beats almost everything normal ie frame advantage galore! It applies regardless of the weapon she has

M xx Forward + H, H,H,H,H,S,super jump,M,M,H,H,H xx air dash attack H( fireball + H ) ground bounce, land press S, go back in the air and do whatever you want.

easy to hit confirm, gives you time to prepare and does good damage and keeps the pressure on

Hell you can even cancel into Level 3 from the forward + H, H,H,H,H move.

Gah, this game has THE worst matchmaking and online setup ever.

Seriously, I think those online Resident Evil games on the PS2 were better than this shit.

Oh, and also I suck. :D
 
I'm up to Joe's 7th mission. Holy shit did things get complicated.

I think I'll call it a night for now. I ignored GAF game invites today, I'll play tomorrow. =P
 
no amount of practice really help learning to play against other people. Really I just need to play online as much as I can.

Edit: But fuck people with shitty connections. The most horrible atrocities could happen to them and I wouldn't care at all.

But holy shit this game is crack in digital form.
 
ugh again i lose because of stupid sentinel. i always whoop the other characters asses but then that cheap piece of shit chips me to death.

Yeah pretty much. I know im gonna want to at least try out MK when it hits...but its going to be hard to pull myself away.

I'm usually jumping and dashing the fuck around trying to stay alive.

I'm just getting really sick of this game. After so many years playing VF5 and SF4 and SSF4, where I could always count on the fact that my input on the stick would result in the action I intended, having a game only respond 7 or 8 times out of 10 just isnt fun to me.

you cant swap out during jumps or dashes
