Nothing like pissing off Dark Phoenix players by running away from regular Phoenix for the win. :D

I have 3 characters left.

Lol a good way to piss people off is to swing around with Spencer when they activate X Factor. This one guy got pissed and tried to do a Hyper Combo when I landed. He got BIIIOONIIICCC AAAARRRRRRM'd and lost lol.

Good lord I suck at this game. Can't even get aerial combos off special to work online.

I also keep hitting the assist buttons trying to do kicks. Bah.

yo I got sick combos in this game!!

maad sick!!

but I cant land them coz of lag :(

I'm all in the zone and shyt like yeay!! Skrull got u cornered gonna go for the relaunch into level 3!!

but then I press the S button and all it does is whiff ;_;

damn i am loving haggar. i ended up dumping hsien ko in the end. i am now trying zero/haggar/taskmaster. it was working pretty well for me right now. wonder if i wouldn't of gotten such an ass whooping from salva if i had this team earlier on. :P finally figured out team chain combo's too.
As a big Haggar detractor before this game's release, let me just say: I respect the pipe.

Max/Tony Stark players, got any great vids of Iron Man tech I can learn from?

Had to drop Magneto, too many pixies trying to fight on their own on my team :p At least a Unibeam assist will hold people in one spot so I can actually combo something.

Iron Man can be surprisingly basic. His normal aerials which consist of M M H S, land smart bomb into proton cannon is great for DHCing. Aside from using jumping dash in M as his pressure move, try tricking a blocking opponent with L L, then fly S (hits overhead) land into cr. M then S to start combo. Works just like Magnetos.

Hope this all makes sense.

The new busted shit in the game is letting a guy pull off a combo on you, block it, then XF right in the middle of the thing into LV3. Works every time D:

If you plan to only play online a lot, then play in training mode under 4 bar connection conditions. Seriously, it's helped me tons to pull off combos during online games.

What are you guys finding is the optimal button configuration for a TE stick with this game?

I keep mashing lower buttons (attacks all up top with special and partners below) thinking I'm still in SF4 mode and then doing something unexpected :(

I'm impressed with anyone that can actually keep Phoenix alive for an entire match on a consistent basis. That bitch BLEEDS.
Yeah, the second time I had to kill her, but just as time expired. It's only a few seconds. You don't have to attack. Just block correctly, advance guard, and spend most of your time in the air for like 20 seconds. :P

Do option B for any mad catz SFIV stick.

Finally figured out Arthur...you kinda have to play like you would in GnG.

Really do need to work on my defense though. I keep getting ground bounced lol.

Wow. Whoever designed the Galactus fight needs to be skinned alive and dragged through a salt mine.

Just one of this damn finger blast combos (151 hits), killed one of my characters, he bounces out, then my next character immediately jumps in with no input, right into the blast, gets caught in a juggle and has half her health gone before I even get control.

For all the people who always ask 'why do people always speak ill of Japanese game design?'

THIS IS WHY!

That probably is optimal. It'll just take getting accustomed to it. (I'm in the same boat so I feel your pain.)

Turns out I was doing that Doom combo a little off, waiting too long to hit the first air B. Have to hit it pretty much as soon as possible. Hitting it much more now. Now I have to learn how to actually play with him :D

The combo is so much fun, but I'm not sold on Doom yet as bad as I want to use him. Hidden Missle aside, his keep away seems kinda crappy and it can be a bitch to close the distance as times.

Just stay as close to him as possible and you should be able to win...with a little luck anyway.

When he pivots around the floating island he unleashes a 400 hit combo with those damn lasers. Blocking still gets you killed. It fills the entire screen so you can't jump.

Just terrible game design. Absolutely archaic bullshit.

you don't bro, you just die, he is galactus and he will stomp on your couch if he feels like it

I think zipping around the stage with Spencer when the opponent activates XF is the ultimate troll in the game.

gotta beat on him faster so he doesn't get to that point... same thing with the "glowing ball of hot instant death" move. You've gotta hit him hard and fast.

Chris's flamethrower is your best friend

I am right up against his chest/stomach. Because he is a cheap fucking bitch, his entire forearm fills the entire screen, so every single swing of his arms hits me. Blocking reduces the damage, but obviously he's 4 times more powerful than is reasonable.

Terrible. Absolutely terrible.

I've hit him with hypers while he's moving, never stopped him before.

I'm pretty terrible at fighting games and I dont find Galactus difficult at all :<. I pretty much just mash buttons and block when it looks like he's going for a swing. I can usually do it now without even losing a character. Easiest fighting game boss I've ever encountered.

When he grabs you its possible to get out by mashing buttons btw.

Ok, can anybody tell me what moves to try using against Galactus when he's starting to pivot around the planet?

Cause I hit him with a 46hit hyper chain (all three characters), it wasn't enough, so he finger blasted me, followed up immediately by blasting lasers from his head, followed immediately by another finger blaster.

So 3 separate 100 hit combos in a row.

Awesome.

Mock if old: MTV Multiplayer interviews Seth Killian. Among the many questions...
What has been the low point of your career?
Leaked info and ripped games can be pretty heartbreaking. I understand the motivations, and often it comes from your biggest fans that are extremely hungry for information or a chance to play early, but it can really end up hurting the game and a company's relationship with its fans over the long term.
Poor Seth. I hope you're feeling good about yourself, Lupinko.

The Antitype said:

you can't actually stop him from doing the "lasergasm", what I meant is you need to keep on him so you progress through the fight faster so he doesn't have a chance to use it. Notice how he'll save his nastiest shit for when you get him past 50%, that's the time to use X-factor and all 5 meters. Experiment with different hypers because some of them absolutely blow against him.

NEWB question. How do you do a snap back? Also, is playing simple mode online considered cheap?
down>forward+assist. Like a fireball but with the assist button. Also if u hit assist1 you'll force his 1st partner, same with the 2nd... very useful at times

no simple mode isn't cheap, good way to jump in if your totally new to this shiz and just wanna see shit flying all over the place at the press of a button :)

Probably the only thing to worry about is transitioning from simple to regular control. Otherwise I would have started simple as well.

For anyone still on the fence about this game allow me to describe it to you in the exact words I used to describe this game to a coworker of mine.

I spoke of my Spencer/Haggar/Sentinel team

"Okay, so we start this out and your all expecting me to be gentle and ease in on you slowly right? WRONG! As soon as we start up I jump straight up and zip over to you and BAM!
Im all coming right in your face!
I immediately start rolling around on the ground to confuse you at this point.
Thats important because when you roll around on the ground you feel invincible!
Anyhow I suddenly pop back up and BOOM! I start laying in on you HARD!
I mean hard too baby. We're flying into walls, bouncing off the ground and I'm knocking your ass around like CRAZY!
Anyhow at this point the big guy I brought with me who has the mustache decides he wants a turn and I let him have a go at you while your still dizzy from the pounding I just gave you.
So he gets a hold of you and just BOOM! Throws you into the air and grabs ahold of you and starts DESTROYING YOU!
I mean heavy too!
He's flopping around on top of you and diving all over you!
It's suffocating. You can't catch your breath!!!!
Oh whats that? Oh shit I brought me ANOTHER guy and you knooooooow who he is.
He's that big guy who ripped you in half years ago AND HE BROUGHT HIS THREE FRIENDS!
That's right at this point that guys and his friends are pouring shame all over your whole body! THERE MACHINES!
As soon as they do their thing they split and the big guys let me knock you around some more but first I slip you some X so you really FEEEEEEEEL this pounding.
And no matter how hard you try to run away you cant escape me zippin in front of you and coming right up under your nose!!!!

And the best part is...as soon as your sore tired body is left there crying salty tears down your face thinking it's over.
...
THEN THE BIG GUY SNEAKS UP BEHIND YOUR ASS AND STARTS TO LAY YOU SOME PIPE!
Then we do it all over again."

....

After this description of the game everyone had to go smoke a cigarette.
And that my friends is my Porno Combo.
I'm probably gonna write up one of these crazy things for any team I like. Post some teams and get an innuendo filled soliloquy about it made!

Only thing that annoys me about Galactus is when you beat him he's all 'Now I'll show you!'
Ii mean... Why say that when he's beaten? Was there supposed to be a 3rd stage to the fight? Will it be DLC? You can't have th eend boss taunt you with some other form, say something to the extent of 'now I'm pissed and you're gonna die' and then just fall off screen.

Just stand there and block it, there's nothing you can do there.

This bugs me too.

"Beaten...by such mortals?!" or something would be much better.

That or he should go out all Unicron style, "You cannot...destroy...my....destiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny" , like a boss.

Thanks for that. I play normal in single player to get good, but people kick my ass online horribly so I play simple. Sadly, it seems to be the only way I can win. Yet, I can get to Galactus in hard mode. Go fig.

seth is being a drama queen. how exactly is leaking info hurting the company? we're finding out anyway. we just want to know and avoid the bullshit slow feeding of info that makes this generation of gaming suck more balls than it needs to.

Oh how I miss the carefree days of yore when Nintendo Power had 20-page articles that told me everything I wanted to know about a game.

Leaking stuff is a dick move no matter what your motivations are. It's a complicated issue that I don't feel like going into extreme detail about at 5 in the morning, but in a nutshell, it fucks with their marketing strategy pretty hard and Capcom should be able to do with their work and property as they please.

He is not being a drama queen. It's the truth. From a gamer perspective it's all YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH... But when you work with this kind of stuff and you plan/budget around certain things. You gotta hope things stick to plan or it ends up hurting not only you/your company but also your partners/other companies involved.

Thanks for the adds.

For now I'm running Haggar / Morrigan / Sent. I'm still terrible at doing any combos in an actual match, but I can still pull off a win with this team. Haggar builds meter with the pipe and Morrigan uses it for her mirror image.

When he shoots lasers from every direction, you super jump and block to take the least chip damage. If he catches you while on the ground, XF while blocking and continue to block. You won't take any chip then.

You whine so much. =/ In general: "super jump, L L M M H S, land, block, repeat" defeats Galactus. I've fought him with every character and lost to him exactly once, and that was only because I had to do so in order to unlock his ending.

For those of you with problems with Galactus, what difficulty are you playing on? I find that hes easier than the later stages. I would have trouble in the last 2 stages or so and then beat Galactus on the first try..

How I beat Galactus:
1. Get close to him, real close.
2. L > M > H to the groin, or a multihit/beam Hyper.
3. Watch Galactus.
3a. Is he winding up an attack? Block!
3b. Is he winding up those eyebeams? Go to 2.
3c. Is he standing around? Go to 2.
3d. Is he going to grab you? Superjump! (Tricky timing!)
3e. Oh, no! Got grabbed! ASSIST! (Or mash if you're the only one left.)
3f. He's going into the background and not grabbing? BLOCK! NOW! (Might still get chipped to death.)
3g. He's charging up that red hand of death? X-FACTOR! Go to 2.
4. I'm down to one character, or the timer is getting low? X-FACTOR! Go to 1.

Really, the main things to remember for big G is that you want to get close, you want to use non-throw hypers. The real trick for me in this fight isn't Galactus himself, it's the heralds. It's real easy to end up getting bounced from one to another, but anyone with a beam or area effect move can hit both of them at the same time, ending that part pretty fast.

Of course, some characters have specific strategies that work out them better than this for them, but this is the basic idea.

Well apparently I'm not as good as you at this particular fighting game. Sowwie.

I'm playing on normal. I can get up to the Galactacus fight and through the two silver dudes without losing a character. No problem.

I'm fine playing against actual, you know, characters. Pattern recognition, puzzle-boss, screen-filling BS, not so good at dealing with in this game.

Beating Galactus really isn't the point of the game anyway.

Really though the dude's not that hard. The silver dudes took out two team members and I still shredded G with Viewtiful Joe on his own.
